So what do I do now?!

Okay, I decided today to get the Bonus Pass for the five days for the price of two and ordered them online. The order was declined, even though my credit card has enough credit on it. The only thing I can think happened is that my expiration date on the card is June 2003, and they won't take a card with an expiration date that soon. I had that happen once a long time ago with a hotel stay. But, our new cards haven't come in the mail yet and this card gives us Air Miles, which of course I want. I could use another card, but I won't get miles! So can any of you think of something I can do to get around this?! It's my understanding that these tickets are only available online right now, so I don't think calling the reservationist will help. Our trip is the week of May 24, so we will be using them before our card expires. Any ideas?

I'd call the issuing bank and ask. Is it possible that you have a limit on the amount of transactions that you can do in a day?

That's not it. We haven't used it since we got back from St. Maarten two weeks ago and all of those charges have come through and I've made two large payments. It has to be the expiration date. I looked online to make sure that no unauthorized charges have been put on and there's nothing suspicious. I really feel like it has to be the expiration date. I had this happen once when we were going to Atlantis. My TA called me back and explained to me that since our trip was going to be after the card expired, I had to either use a different card or call the bank and have them give me our new expiration date over the phone and let them know it. I guess US has a policy on how far out the expiration date can be and we're not far out enough. I suppose I'll have to call the bank and get our new one, but it's such a hassle.

Some CC companies only allow you to charge up to your limit in any giving statement cycle even if you have made payments during the statement cycle that bring the balance back down. I know that AMEX branded credit cards are this way. As a clarification this is not an AMEX GREEN charge card that has no preset limit but the SPG branded AMEX CREDIT card.

I'd call reservations and see if they can do it over the phone.
Yes, it says online only, but I'm sure they have a way to override and do it manually. Then they can tell you the reason why your credit card is declined.

I'd call the credit card company and make sure the card is active. Because if you enter the expiration date wrong on a web site, it shuts the card off.

I'm pretty sure I didn't enter it wrong, but I didn't know that. I'm gonna call the rep at Universal and see if it's the expiration date, which I suspect. If that's the case, I will get my new one from Capital One and then enter it, like we did with our hotel ressie a few years back. I'll let ya'll know if it's the expiration date, because that could affect others who try to buy tickets online and have a card that is fixing to be renewed.

I would call your bank and ask, they are the only ones that will be able to answer why it was declined.

I use cards that are nearly expired all the time, so I can't imagine they declined you in April for using a card that doesn't expire until June?

Good luck getting the problem fixed :)

I highly doubt it would be the expiration date because you are using it to charge tickets (not a reservation) and they bill you immediately. I ordered mine online, my card was billed right away and then I got them within a few days. Are you having them sent to you or picking them up at the will call? Try having them sent and see if that fixes the problem. Keep us posted...

Okay, so I feel like an idiot. I tried again today and it went through with no problem, but I think I figured out what I did. Where it has you put in the expiration date, there is one pull-down menu for the month and one for the year. I think I put in the year and didn't do the month so it showed January instead of June. Boy, am I embarrassed. But thanks to all of you who tried to help. I'm normally not such a ditz---promise. But the good news is, I have our tickets! I have the confirmation my hot little hand now! We got the Bonus Pass, with five days for the price of two, including Party Passes for City Walk at night. We'll be there in 3-1/2 weeks!

Glad that you got it fixed. I was gonna say to cal the company and ask for a temporary increase on your credit limit.

tdm516 - You made me laugh. I had a similar problem while making airline reservations last year. I kept entering my cc number over and over. Finally I called the number that kept popping up my screen. As I started to explain to the agent at AA my problem, it hit me - I never changed the drop down from visa to mastercard. I felt so stupid.
