Not to be rude, but once a certain poster joins the thread, I am "outta here":rotfl:

So sad, as I love a good discussion and thought we were having just that. Hope to catch ya'll on another thread:wave2:

Really, you would leave just because a certain poster joined in the discussion?

Ok well, nice chatting with you.

He may be. He's a politician. They are not necessarily honest about everything they say.

He may have apologized just to smooth things over, as I said.

I am not condoning if he groped anyone or the fact that he had an affair and fathered a child outside of the marriage. But it seems as though some are trying to put part of the blame, about the affair and the child, onto Maria, and I do not think it is her fault that he did what he did. HE is the one who had the affair, not Maria.

I totally agree.

This site does have an ignore feature you can use, instead. ;)

I agree, but I'd go a step further. This is happening every single day with "regular" folks, too. Except how many women get abortions after they have affairs with married men? Most, I'd be willing to bet. We women get all riled up about the cheating dog scum of a man who has affairs, but no matter how WRONG it is, let's not be naive and think this is a unique story.

:worship::worship::worship:

Let's not forget that Arnold was juicing for many years. I know a thing or two about men on gear. They have bad tempers and insatiable sexual appetites. She had to know! But I think her humanity was in saying that she "knew" him. . I take that to mean that she knew he loved her. . . .and I don't doubt that for a minute. BUT still they can love a woman and still have atrocious behavior. :(

When their job includes their belief that marriage is between a man 'n a woman 'n that they're protectin' the defintion 'n sanctity of marriage, it involves me.

They should be eatin' the words that marriage is between one man 'n one woman!

In California it was the voters, not the politicians, who decided to make marriage between one man and one woman when they passed Proposition 8. I don't agree with it at all but you have to put the blame where it belongs.

I'm referrin' to the Governor's past position of marriage is between a man 'n a woman 'n the general belief that the sanctity of marriage is threatened by equal marriage.

I won't discuss blame with you coz the DIS prohibits religious discussions.

And FWIW, Arnold opposed Prop. 8.

I'm not blaming Shriver for the affair, but pointing out that she put blinders on about his "bad behavior" in the past and can't legitimately say she was caught completely unaware. More than a dozen women came out and said Arnold touched them inappropriately/sexually, and Shriver completely dismissed those claims, even when Arnold admitted to them in his own backhanded way. She basically called all those women liars, victimizing them yet again.

I think Shriver chose to believe him then, but I hope that looking back, she realizes she made a mistake and now knows her husband's true nature. He's apparently a master manipulator.

I think this southern black dialect is offensive because it evokes a lot of painful history/reminders of what life was life for people in the deep south.

As a matter of record, he vetoed equal marriage twice in favor of domestic partnership.

I can't recall his "reasoning" for the vetoes, but I remember he worked to overturn Prop. 8 and had this to say following a judge's decision to overturn it:

“For the hundreds of thousands of Californians in gay and lesbian households who are managing their day-to-day lives, this decision affirms the full legal protections and safeguards I believe everyone deserves. At the same time, it provides an opportunity for all Californians to consider our history of leading the way to the future, and our growing reputation of treating all people and their relationships with equal respect and dignity.”

He concluded, “Today’s decision is by no means California’s first milestone, nor our last, on America’s road to equality and freedom for all people.”

She probably dismissed those claims because she did not want to believe that they could be true. He was/is her husband, and she loved him. Maybe she still loves him, but I hope that she is able to move on with her life, and I think she will.

If you're referrin' to me, I would hope you know I'm not the real Uncle Remus 'n I post like I talk coz that's just the way I am.

I don't think it has anything specifically to do with black. I think it is just speaking in a southern accent. Or at least, that's how I view it.

Well, there you go.

Or is it wells, ter'en ya goes? I'm no Mark Twain when it comes to writing in dialect.
