So, this is Disney's answer...

:confused3omg.... that was awful. At least with HSM we have song recognition and an attachment to the music, story and characters. I cannot for the life of me understand the fascination with Stitch and why WDW gives him such a platform?

Okay. Now you've gone too far :goodvibes. Pick on the attraction, but not Stitch :rotfl:. Seriously, some of us are "fascinated" with Stitch. For one of my adopted sons, he represents a sweet adoption story and the whole "broken but good" family concept means a lot to us. Also the concept of a mischievous but good hearted character is one in which my son can identify. We truly love Stitch. Its a shame that Disney can't come up with an attraction that would truly showcase this unique character.

I don't know. I think the burping and spitting on SGE is pretty darn unique.;)

I saw this show and I have to say, "I laughed, I cried, it was better than Cats."

Yeah :). I do like the end of SGE where he knocks on the castle. Stitch is both of my boys' favorite character to see in the parks. Both of them give him really tight hugs every year. Something awesome like Monsters Inc. would have been nice for Stitch. Something that incorporated both aspects of his character. Too bad I don't have the talent to be a Disney Imagineer of an Exec. :lmao:.

I saw it when I was there last week and it seemed like the kids enjoyed it... at least the get up and dance part. And I guess it was semi interactive from what I saw.

I agree that it doesn't seem up to Disney standards and I could have been one of those girls in it - with no professional dancing training at all.

I like stitch... but I hate SGE and won't even go on it anymore.

We watched this show last week and my kids (14 dd and 10 ds) enjoyed it alot. There was quite a crowd so it seems that we weren't the only one's having fun. :D

We also rode SGE and I thought it was the dumbest "ride". I was one of the lucky ones chosen to be "spit on" by Stitch. Oh joy. I guess just don't get the whole Stitch character. I don't like Lilo and Stitch the movie simply because of Stitch's obnoxious behavior and once you add into the fact that he doesn't actually "speak" but instead just yells and hollers, it is enough to make me bonkers.

Disney does A LOT of stuff right. I wouldn't vacation there as much as I do if they didn't. That's really the point. Those of us very familiar with Disney and their standard's have come to expect great things from them. This isn't one of them.

When I heard about the coasters at Universal and Sea World, I really didn't care about them per se as I'm not a huge coaster buff. What I was excited about was seeing how Disney responded. What I (and from the sounds of it, others) am saying, is that Disney seems to not be taking things as seriously as maybe they should be.
I don't know. Disney is currently doing major rehabs on both Space Mountain and Hall of Presidents, they put several new elements in the park for SWW, they're building up several character meet & greet locations, they're constantly adding to the character corps (the "UP" characters, for example), they're building a new stage for Capt Jack's tutorial so that he can actually be SEEN :thumbsup2, they put Move It Shake It Celebrate It on the streets (which has been very popular) and who knows how much other stuff behind the scenes just in maintenance and rehab. They're not opening a big new attraction, but clearly they're spending money to make things better and bring new things to the Guest. In fact, they're probably spending about the same amount of money that Universal or SeaWorld is on their new coasters. Disney is just spreading that out over many different areas. I'd rather have a bunch of new stuff all over property than one big thing in one park. YMMV

I get that when people see Universal an SeaWorld opening new coasters, they want Disney to announce a blockbuster too, but Disney is a different product. It's not going to grow the same way.

:earsboy:

This is a horrible idea/show/thing whatever you want to call it. I still wont go to universal or sea world or anything while at WDW. but as others have said this is a truly bad show, I hope this is not Disney's best hope for the future.

Really? You won't give any of the other attractions a chance? Why? Because it's not Disney? That's a shame. Manta is a wonderful coaster, as are the Shamu shows. Universal has some top notch attractions as well.

That's a good point.

I think the issue is, Disney is spending money on the wrong things. Space Mountain was pretty much a no-brainer. It had to be rehabbed. I loved it as it was, but any coaster that is operating 12-18 hours every day of the year for 30+ years is going to need a rehab at some point.

In all fairness, I've never been one for these types of stage shows. The shows at castle for example - Not my thing. But since there are characters there, it doesn't have to look "professional". The dancers on this show, being real people, should look like they're good dancers. They just don't.

I honestly think Disney doesn't have to do anything. It's the Disney name. Disney could buy a ferris wheel, put Mickey's head on it, slap it in a middle of a field, call it "Mickey's Magic Wheel" and it would have a line.

I think that's what the people making the decisions are relying on. The fact that they don't have to add many new attractions, and yet still attract millions of people. The less money they spend, the more money they make.

I agree with the previous poster that said it looks like a show you would see at Six Flags.

AND... I can't imagine taking my valuable touring time to watch it - but that is just me and my kids.

If we got to Disney several times a year - and had Annual Passes - and could treat Disney the way we treat our local zoo or museums (visit for a couple of hours and go home) - then maybe I'd sit out there with a slushie. Not gonna happen when we could ride ANYTHING else.

:confused3

Wow, that was terrible. I love Stitch but the ride & now this show are just not up to Disney standards IMHO.

Stitch is easily my favorite Disney character, so I'm a little offended by those who are dumping on the poor guy. :goodvibes

Beyond that, I don't know why anyone would be labeling this as the "answer" to Harry Potter. This is just a show they added. It will run its course and be replaced by something else.

It's been debated enough, but I don't think Disney NEEDS an answer to Harry Potter. Certainly when it opens they will lose some people for 1 or 2 days, and, yes, that's lost income. The truth is, though, that there are far more people who don't care about Harry Potter, than there are fans.

I guarantee even on the day that Harry Potter opens, that Soarin' will still have a 75-90 minute wait at some point.

Disney is doing its best to balance the new with the old, and I think they're doing a fabulous job of it. The rehabs on a variety of the "old" rides have been great, and I'm sure SM's will be just as good.

When Harry Potter opens, I plan on spending a day to see it, since we're fans. But, more than likely, it will be because we add 1 day onto our vacation, not take a day away from WDW.

Again, as to this show, it's just a show that was put up to fill some space in Tomorrowland. I'm sure some people will love it, and some people will hate it. In the end it's no different than any other Disney attraction that has its lovers and haters (see Fantasmic for more info.) :)

I know that this chick, as much as I love Disney, is dying to plan a trip to Universal once those new attractions open up! Will be a total Universal vacation - visiting the parks every day, staying in one of their hotels, eating their food on property. I CANNOT WAIT! :goodvibes
