One of the soldiers killed at Ft Hood lived in our town (he went to high school with DD). I knew that his funeral is Saturday but I didn't realize that his body was coming home today. I was out and about and just happened to be on I-55 this morning. Every bridge that I passed had police cars, firetruck (some with their ladders up), and people waving flags. They were honoring him as his body passed on it's way from Midway Airport on to the the funeral home.
When I saw it, they had already driven passed his home, high school, elementary school and middle school and were getting back onto the highway.
It really hit me when I saw what looked like thousands of motorcycles in the procession. Most of these people probably never met the young man but yet they felt the need to be part of this.
May their families find comfort and peace.
May he and the others rest in peace!
Thank you to all that have chosen to service our country!
