what did you all get as dessert @ pizza planet? I am thoroughly enjoying your reviews.

AH! How could I forget, especially with the title of the thread! Probably because I didn't take pics of them. We just got 2 bags of apple slices, 3 sugar cookies and 2 chocolate chip cookies. You could also have gotten a Mickey Mouse rice krispy treat. The sugar cookies were the exact same asthe chocolate chip cookies without the chocolate chips, so they weren't exactly what you would think of as a traditional "sugar cookie".

We actually really liked Pizza Planet - the theming was fantastic and we have sons - they loved the place. Thought the food was pretty good too and prices not bad if paying OOP.

Five years ago we did the regular dining plan and I did love it - but at the time wished for a counter service plan. I am hoping to try the QSDP soon.

You know what I think would be great - a "medium" plan - say for every three days of QSDP maybe one TS. To me, that would be perfect

We liked Pizza Planet too for the same reasons, and we especially liked that the combo meals came with a salad instead of fries (so tired of fries!). That "medium" plan sounds perfect for us too! We would definitely be interested in something along those lines.

Thanks so much for doing the QSDP review - there are so few CS reviews! We're doing a QSDP trip in September and your great reviews have made me rethink a few of our plans. I didn't even know they offered breakfast at WPE! I love that place. We're definitely going to have to make it to DTD for breakfast. And my DH was happy to find out we can get sushi as CS. Great job!! (Also enjoying your TR too!)

We did go to Pizzafari on our first trip to WDW a couple years ago. The pizza was about the same, maybe slightly worse, but you don't get the salads there I don't think.

Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe-Dinner

First of all I must apologize because I did forget to take pics of this one meal. So hopefully I can describe the food enough that you can get a good mental image.

On our last trip we really enjoyed Pecos Bill because of the great fixins bar, so we knew that we had to return. We got 4 regular cheeseburgers (DB and all 3 DCs), 3 deluxe cheeseburgers (I think it had bacon and onion strings), and DU got a taco salad.

My deluxe cheeseburger had (in addition to the bacon and onion strings) mushrooms, lots of pickles (my favorite food ever!), lettuce, and I don't even remember what kind of sauces...probably bbq and ketchup and mustard i don't know.

There are so many options to put on your burger here including artificial cheese sauce, salsa, and I think there was chili. DU put a bunch of stuff in his salad too. It's great because he could customize it as much as he wanted. All they gave him was a taco shell and the meat, and he put everything else on it. He said that he really liked it and the meat had good flavor.

For dessert we got 5 strawberry yogurts (the yoplait kind, regularly they were selling them for like 2 bucks each!), 2 carrot cakes and a thing of apple slices. DU didn't really like the carrot cake but DC13 and DD did.

Overall, I think this was the only time I got a burger throughout our whole QSDP adventure, so it's definitely possible. But this is one burger place that is unique and worth the trip!

Later that evening when we were in Tomorrowland, we grabbed smoothies at Auntie Gravity's. Again no pics, but they were so refreshing and they hit the spot perfectly! DU and I got the "tropical", DB and DCs got the strawberry banana, and DD got the orange-pineapple. Everybody loved them.

Might disagree with Pizza Planet but that might be because the seating was difficult when we went, the salad was just all lettuce, and it was noisy which is saying something since I wear a hearing aid. Not much to choose from at DS but might I suggest that you give Min and Bill's a chance next trip? I stumbled upon the best hotdog in a pretzel roll last time and my husband sucked up both milkshakes.

Seating is difficult, unless you want to sit outside (but who actually does want that in 95 degree muggy weather?). Even though the side salad is basic, it's a nice change from the fries. Speaking of hotdogs in a pretzel, they had them at Blizzard Beach (after we were done with the dining plan), and it was very yummy!

A big part of any vacation is the food and who wants the same old stuff that they eat at home, as a rule? Especially when they eat so darned healthy the rest of the year and are ready to bust loose, a bit.

Getting a salad instead of french fries is a good option but I just wish it were a tad bit more special. I would like to see soup especially in the winter months.

I agree with the PP who suggested a medium dining plan where you would get a few TS included. Having a point system where TS were so many points, CS, so many and Snacks so much would pretty much fit everyone.

Sassagoula, over at POFQ, has muffalettas and begneits which is a nice change and when the weather is good sitting outside is a great option. Stick around to hear the piano playing late at night.

Definitely subscribing. We are doing the QSDP for the first time in December. I was relieved to read your review on Yakitori House and so glad you posted pics. I have always wanted to try this but I was reading bad reviews lately. After seeing the pics I think I would like it. Thanks so much for this report. It's great!

On our last trip we were riding the train around MK and I had a great idea. We hopped off and went to Pecos Bill, seated my husband, who has issues, and went and got our food and we were able to catch the afternoon parade. Not quite front row center but having seen it many times before it is a new perspective and comfortable seating with food thrown in for good measure.

It was that brief period of time when they were serving the country fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy and corn on the cob. Yum! Gone now.

Sorry for the lack of updates recently. I was at USC orientation and then took a side trip to DLR for a couple days. Add on to that I have 3 more weeks at home before leaving for college so things are a little hectic. I'm working on an update right now and it should be up in a little bit.

Artist's Palette-Breakfast

Since this is just another breakfast update, I won't bore you on the details. Here's the lineup for what we got this morning:

Artist's Palette-Lunch

So much Artist's Palette!!! Well today we left AK relatively early and decided to have lunch back at SSR. I had heard good things about their flatbreads and sandwiches so we gave it a try.

What I got was the cheeseburger flatbread. This was an interesting combo of both a burger and a pizza. It had tons of toppings including cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, ground beef, onions, ketchup, mayo and mustard. It tasted really good! Definitely one of the most unique items that I had over the course of the dining plan.

DB got a regular cheese flatbread. Nothing special.

All 3 DCs got the chicken tenders (big surprise ). Again, nothing special.

DM got a turkey and brie sandwich. Basic sandwich but she really liked it. One thing that was great about all of these sandwiches were the yummy chips that came with each of the boxed meals (not the flatbreads).

DD got a "Smith" sandwich, which I would write about if I remembered what was in it. Sorry, it's been like a month...

DU got a buffalo chicken flatbread, which I don't think I got a pic of for some reason? Anyway, for dessert we could get a ton of things from the grab 'n go section, including ice cream. DM, DU and I got the mickey mouse ice cream sandwiches. Mmmm..who wants one??

2 people (DB and someone else) got the strawberry yogurt parfait, which I really wanted to try (but the ice cream was literally calling my name!). It looked scrumptious.

We also got an M&M cookie (yeah, they are big cookies)

a sugar cookie (with Mickey Mouse sprinkles)

And a brownie. DC12 could not finish this because it was so rich and dense (I mean, just look at it).

There are some decent options here, and there are some safe options for those picky eaters, which worked out great for our group. I would definitely recommend the flatbreads because of their uniqueness. For those staying at SSR, this is a great place, although I wouldn't necessarily take a side trip for this stuff.
