So I stayed at the GCH this weekend

I really think, as previous posters have stated, that this is a desperate measure to try to sell AKV and SSR to Californians. For those who bite, it probably is an emotional purchase that they might regret. (Of course, unless they really wanted WDW resorts).
Several of these purchasers will probably reconsider adding on GCV so soon after that large investment, and decide to just take their chances booking GCV at 7 months.
I really don't think this sales tactic will have that much impact on sales of GCV's. I'm sure anyone who wants to buy when sales are first available will be able. At least I hope so!:rolleyes1

We are much closer to DL than WDW. After more than six months of research we made the decision we wanted to buy. Dh has a conference in DL next month. In order to take advantage of the current incentives we decided to purchase now not later. Our decision to purchase at DL had nothing to do with the GC villas. Our decision was made before the Founding Members issue arose. We are taking this purchase very seriously. Flights alone are 2000 dollars for every trip. To make sure we were making an informed decision we are renting points off a member. We are flying 3000 miles to go and see AKV. (we were going to originally purchase in April but decided sooner was better than later). Please understand that not everyone makes this decision based on an emotional purchase. There are those of us who have done our homework
:thumbsup2

This was not an emotional purchase for us, its interesting people assuming all this in the first place. So what you didnt buy at DLR, after we are done making an add on, then you can also. Hope this info helps for all you emotional people out there in the 50's. JW

I think what he is saying is "Those who purchase at SSR or AKL now, in order to be a founding member at GCH, may be making an emotional decision", not people like you who would buy at WDW anyway. In fact he says exactly that in his post. I would not take offence at this comment.

Well, my guide finally called me back late yesterday. He, of course, did not know anything about this Founding Members program. So he made a call to someone in management and was told that yes, sales will be opened to the Founding Members first. He speculated after maybe a month of sales it would be opened to the rest of us. That timeline is just speculation on his part. Oh, and Founding Members will recieve a "special gift". He thinks it will be something similar to the AKV tapestry but he was not told what the "special gift" is.

Interestingly, the lady he spoke with said sales to Founding Members will begin in a year and a half. That puts it around April '09. I don't know if they actually have a projected selling date and she just slipped or that is an assumption on her part. I guess we will see.

I am glad that you interpreted that post correctly. I was not offended:goodvibes I feel we are in the crossfire. I really feel for the people who had their heart set on GC. What I don't understand is why they dont take substantial deposits from people who really have their heart set on these villas so they can get first dibs. Or those showing interest in full point purchases get first crack. I certainly do not think it is fair that newbie owners to be like us have first crack before loyal long time owners wanting to purchase full/partial points there. Those ding dongs that make an emotional purchse like the OP stated will regret it eventually and it will re-sale back to buyers for a cheaper price anyways. What goes around comes around.:lmao:

I disagree dragnfly. We just bought in September at DLR. From what I read here is that I will have an opp to buy in GC before you. If im right on that, what makes me so horrible compared to you? You will get your chance after us. Im sure there are going to be plenty of points to go around!! I really wouldn't dwell on it. First dibs, last dibs. We all get to own a piece of the magic. JW

So because you bought before us (we buy in 7 days at DLR) does that give you preference also? I would like to know since we are thinking of adding on when available.:goodvibes

Drag N Fly, are you already an owner? If you are, I would buy under one name, (Either you or your spouse) If you do it under the name you originally bought under, they will consider it an add on and try in California PM me, My guide is excellent.

Not yet........ 7 long agonizing days!

Well if it is some kind of selling ploy to get people to buy a DVC contract in California now in order to insure them first crack at purchasing points for the GCV, the ploy won't work on us. And I'm a die-hard DVC/Disney/Disneyland fan, and I've been extremely, eagerly waiting for a DVC at Disneyland! But I'm NOT going to plunk down $16,000 while visiting DL for ,lets say AKV, just to assure us first opportunity to buy points at GCV. NO WAY!!! Well, okay, yes I would if I won the lottery or a big jackpot or something, but other than that, NO WAY!!!

However, if it so happens that GCV sells out to DVC members first before us poor, out-of-luck, general population folks get a chance to buy in, please keep me in mind if you happen to have a few leftover GCV points you want to rent.:goodvibes:rotfl:
