So how do you narrow it down?

My son just graduated high school last night and I've decided, after going through all his photos for his senior display, that I need to do a scrapbook for him (ok, really for me but it will be of him! ;))

I'm just wondering, how in the world do you choose which photos to scrap when you literally have thousands to choose from? Eighteen years is a lot to cover, I know. Is it doable in one book or am I just going to drive myself crazy?

Yes, with that amount of pics you will drive yourself crazy!

I think that you first need to decide how many pages you want to do. Then figure out if you are going to do the whole school career, only high school, or only senior year.

Once you decide that, if you are doing the whole school career, maybe do only one page per year. Hit the highlights. Journal what you remember him being like during that time. If there was a favorite teacher, favorite friends, something big that happened in his life that year, whatever.

If you are doing high school only, pick a few highlights from each year. If senior year only, then you can really get more detailed.

Good luck with your project. I am sure that it will bring back many memories for years to come and something that he will cherish forever.

I agree with the previous poster that defining your approach is a critical first step to keep from losing your mind. :) I am currently in the process of gathering/organizing my own childhood photos and I think I am going to format this way:
1. The Early Years (birth-until starting school)
2. Kindergarden-Elementary
3. Middle-High School

If you have a lot of his senior year that could potentially be its own separate album to include graduation, prom, etc.

Good luck and have fun!
