So how did your portfolio do today?

Correct. People 2 years from retirement don't joke about it.
My post clearly says MY portfolio. I highly doubt anyone is going to get upset about me joking about my portfolio. And that is especially true because they've made money over the year.

I am not even going to look either! I had a hunch last fall this would be happening, and I hate to believe my hunch was correct:scared:

Learned a very long time ago to not check day to day. The trend is what is important. Everything is up over the course of the last year. There will be people who panic and sell or pull out of the market.

We are way overdue for a correction so anyone surprised by this doesn't really understand how the markets work.

Like I said to my husband "the money we lost today wasn't our money to begin with...it was earnings that won't really have a value until we sell off the shares anyway." Our 12 month portfolio performance is around 24% so we're not in a position to be upset about a 5% correction to the DJIA.

I want the market to keep going lower, selfishly, because then we will be able to buy up more and more and the inevitable rebound will be very lucrative for us 30 years from now.

The thread title says, "your portfolio". Did you edit it?

I'm down about $6k today.

You asked a question and then made a joke. When tvguy answered your question you told him he didn't get your joke. The joke was cute, but I thought it was secondary to the question so I'm really confused about why you keep on harping on the joke.

One portfolio is down about 3% today. My other one (the old 401-K) is harder to track because the tools on the Principal website are not as easy to use as the ones on the Fidelity website but it also looks to be about 3% down. Not bad considering.

I get the joke and thought it was funny (love Spongebob), but I thought this was posed as a question for people to answer how their portfolio did. Maybe change the title of the thread to "How my portfolio did today" instead that way people aren't as confused by it.

I'm not the one harping on it. Others are and I'm answering them.

I did not gain or lose. That won't happen until I buy or sell
