So how are UPS/FedEx/USPS doing on your deliveries this year?

All packages are arriving as scheduled. My mailman did not come yesterday (I had cards in the mailbox with the flag up--still there this morning. And he has been coming after 8 pm. Ex's mother used to work for usps and says it's going to pot:)

FedEx is behind in my packages from Amazon! They were supposed to arrive Dec 14...now expected Dec 21... Cutting a little too close!

I've been sick so I haven't been able to make it to many stores. I placed one big order from Nordstrom Rack online for the first time earlier this week. UPS tracking it showing 6-7 business days to get here, saying it will be delivered by Dec. 24. Standard ground is 3-5 business days so my one package may be late. i was going to upgrade but i couldn't find the option at checkout. living in the city I also shipped to my office, so I hope a few guys in the mailroom are here Dec.24, if not I have to wait until the following Monday and my gifts will be late. i think the issue is they ship out of CA and im in NYC, but you don't always know where they ship from until you get a tracking number.

i ordered from Sephora for myself and I got free shipping at $50 (well $38 after coupon code) and it got here in two days.

This is about the craziest year I have seen for package deliveries.

And it's only going to get crazier. As the online era continues, why go out into "the storm" when you can do everything with a click of the mouse? The only trade off is that instead of having your items right away, you're now at the mercy of a bunch of other people. The people that pick, pack, ship, handle and deliver your order.

Also, just for everyone (not picking anyone out) if things get behind or whatever, be realistic with the blaming. Please realize that when they say that between UPS, FedEx and the USPS they're handling BILLIONS of packages, and having them all delivered as fast and efficiently as possible, your 1 or 2 packages are but a mere speck in the ocean of packages at these facilities. In my area alone, they are still playing the commercials looking for more people at UPS and FedEx... That's how desperate they are for people and they can't fill the jobs fast enough.

Deliveries are not good. I ordered target gift cards which came via FedEx/usps and they arrived 4 days late. I just mailed out a priority mail package that should take 1-3 days and the post office quoted me 10 days for delivery.

I had a package get shipped from California to Louisiana on Wednesday via USPS 2 Day Priority, and it was delivered on the 2 day mark Friday (even though the Post Office originally said Saturday). So don't give up hope!

My Priority Mail (2 -3 day) Shipment .. West Coast to East Coast

Sent on Wednesday .. Arrived on Friday .. :thumbsup2

We have a UPS hub here and they are processing about 1.6 million packages a night. That's insane. They had been prepared for 1.3 million. So, an extra 300,000 packages every day. That'll put you behind for sure.

And a lot of people don't understand how they couldn't be prepared... which means those people have no idea how this stuff works. It's called forecasting. Just, just like a weather report. You take information from the past to predict the future. This is how these companies decided how many packages to expect and thus how many seasonal people to hire. Sometimes these models work better then others. I'm sure UPS and the like looked at their numbers over the last few years and increased accordingly based off of market trends. However, it seems this time the model didn't work as the increase seems to be greater then accounted for.

Right. Places like Amazon, Target, Walmart all do the same thing. The demand for shipping is greater than ever and it's only going to continue on that path for years to come as people graciously pay to stay home and have their items come to them.

FedEx smartpost is messed up for me. I have 4 packages in their system ordered 11/29 and 12/2. The stores got them out within a few days, but FedEx is taking their time. Two expected 12/22, two on 12/26! Those two got to our local FedEx but for some reason went back to Kansas City today :(

I sent a priority envelope to be delivered today and nada, it hasn't made movement since Friday. I'm going to have to go to the post office if it hasn't been delivered by Wed.

Gosh, you must have the same USPS driver as I do! He has crammed so much in my mailbox that I will now have to replace it due to damage! Its a large plastic (Rubbermaid I think) that is wide enough to lay a magazine down flat and the postal worker has put such large packages in there that the bottom has cracked down one side! My poor mother with arthritic hands couldn't even get a package our of the box last week - it was a plastic mailer with soft clothes in it folded double and crammed part of the way in/part of the way out!
Wow! Lucky her! I have the FreeStyles and they are awesome.

My UPS guys are kicking butt as they usually do. They seem to be making more than one delivery in a day and one I swear that was in the middle of the night. Some stuff from Amazon was coming the very next day early on.

FedEx has done well though they are a little more creative in where they put the packages so I'd have to go on a little hunt for them.

USPS themselves have done pretty well, it's my particular mailman that is the issue. I bet he spends more time cramming things in the box then it would take him to just to drive down a couple houses and put it on my porch. He also scans things as delivered but I won't get them until the next day. Puts the key in the wrong box or puts the key in my box but doesn't leave my package. He's always like this so its not just a holiday season thing.

I despise SmartPost as well but was pleasantly surprised when twice I got notices from UPS that they were closer so would not be handing off and would be delivering themselves.

As far as companies go Amazon rocks as usual. I had a package go missing and they replaced it immediately. Only issue I had with them this year was that they shipped my DD's big present with what it was all over the box. I had a feeling that might happen since it was so large and shipped it to DH's work. Still it was marked as a gift so shouldn't have gone down that way.

Target has done well with shipping but their pick up has been awful. Why would I want to go to the store five different times to pick up my order?

No issues with Walmart, TRU or Kohl's. Game Stop, way too long and very poor packing, things were pretty beat up when I got them and took forever to get here.

Jet and Groupon I probably won't use again. Both would give a ships in 2-3 business days but after checkout I'd get a will ship in 7-14 days notice. No way to cancel them as the claimed the shipping process had already started.

I had a UPS Second Day Air package that was to arrive today (shipped Friday). Suddenly this morning, it has an 'exception' and will not be here until Wednesday. (It arrived at our local hub overnight last night) I paid $8 extra for the rush shipping....

I do wonder if that may change a bit, with a shift to people shipping to the UPS stores to pickup.
With an increase in package thefts from doorsteps, an increase in apartment complex owners refusing to accept packages for tenants, and employers banning employees from getting personal packages at work, I think there has to be some kind of change.

Amazon, in certain areas, has the Amazon locker. It's a locker inside of a Seven Eleven or some other store and people can use these lockers to receive things. I agree that package thefts are on the rise, however, the consumer must do their homework. They have to know whether or not the package will ship in its own packaging (giving away the contents of the box) or will it come inside another box (Amazon tells you right on the item page if it's going to ship in its own box). Some items are just too big for any kind of special box or over-wrapping.

I know this world has changed drastically in the last 15 years, but man, would it be so hard to have a trusting neighbor sign for your things? Sure, not every neighbor is going to fit, but life has changed so much that a lot of us don't know our neighbors anymore (apartments and such, it's understandable).

I got something on Ebay on Thursday. Estimated delivery would be 24th (could've said 23, but almost certain it said 24). It was shipped right away, and sat in Texas forever. Left around midnight, arrived at my post office this morning, and was delivered. Can't believe it sat there forever and when I finally saw movement it was here within about 12 hours.

Also ordered something from Walmart. Was told it would arrive next Monday. Was looking earlier and the tracking number says it'll be here the 24th. It left CA this morning, so I guess it's possible.

Luckily for me, I didn't really care if they were here or not. Yes, they were gifts, but we don't worry about that. We're all adults, so if something isn't here, no biggie. If the item isn't here, we'll wrap a picture of it, so that person knows what they're getting. Either that, or just say another gift is on the way. I understand that's impossible with kids.

I've gotten a couple dozen deliveries, everything on time. I was actually concerned about stores doing the shipping though I've had two different retailers ship me random orders they have no record of. One was amazon and it came addressed to me with no invoice and I have no idea who it really should go to. (it's not on my account at all!) the other I had a store accidentally ship me the same order twice! Both said keep it because they couldn't figure out how to process the situation.
