So how are UPS/FedEx/USPS doing on your deliveries this year?

I have a FedEx package that has been in "transit" from a location only 67 miles away since Sunday. No status update since then and phone rep had no further info. :(
So far no issues with ups or usps.

All of my packages were doing alright until my mom's gift , which was shipped from a warehouse that was an hour away from my house got moved to a location 2 hours away from my house and it's been sitting there for 4 days. I'm guess my mom may have to wait for her gift this year. So much for ordering 3 weeks ago.

USPS is horrible!! I have ordered many items from amazon and i note on my shipping address to deliver to the back door. I don't want items left on my front steps. The past 3 amazon packages that have been contracted out to USPS have been undeliverable. It is a single family home and the address speaks for itself. Go to the back door!! The packages eventually get to me, but later than scheduled. Amazon is great and they actually extended my prime account an extra month for the inconvenience.

My other USPS issue was when i sent my bank check for our DVC account. I requested confirmation and delivery signature. That was at the beginning of Nov. Had i not been in contact with the Title company i would still think that the package was "in-transit". Never again will i use the USPS for anything of importance.

Amazon, in certain areas, has the Amazon locker. It's a locker inside of a Seven Eleven or some other store and people can use these lockers to receive things. I agree that package thefts are on the rise, however, the consumer must do their homework. They have to know whether or not the package will ship in its own packaging (giving away the contents of the box) or will it come inside another box (Amazon tells you right on the item page if it's going to ship in its own box). Some items are just too big for any kind of special box or over-wrapping.

I know this world has changed drastically in the last 15 years, but man, would it be so hard to have a trusting neighbor sign for your things? Sure, not every neighbor is going to fit, but life has changed so much that a lot of us don't know our neighbors anymore (apartments and such, it's understandable).

You know, when I was a kid in the mid-1960s, UPS never left a package on our door step if nobody was home. They left a note telling you which neighbor they left it with. But there were a lot of stay at home moms in my neighborhood, and it was a safe neighborhood, nothing ever got stolen, they just didn't leave stuff on the step.

I know at work it's a mess just because all the positions have been cut that used to deal with legitimate company packages. Shipping clerk job is gone, deliver person job is gone, there currently isn't a single administrative assistant or secretary in the building. Now you have legit company stuff mixed in with a ton of employee personal stuff in a company of 120 people. We had a $30,000 piece of equipment delivered that disappeared inside the building because the payroll clerk signed for it, and just left it sitting in his office since it wasn't addressed to someone specifically. He finally put out a note 2 days later, just before the intended recipient was about to start having the package traced.

finally got my UPS package today. it was not tracking at all for a few days and then suddenly updated to be a day earlier than quoted (which was still the 5th/6th business day). i'm actually glad i am able to shop in stores as shopping online isn't so great at this time of year.

I'm still waiting for two. One is supposed to be delivered today. The other was also supposed to be delivered today, but it took a wrong turn in Springfield, MA. I live in NH. Item was shipped from NY and arrived in Springfield, MA on 12/19. On 12/22 it was scanned in in TX. Yup, from NY to MA to TX and now it is (hopefully) on its way to NH. I doubt I'll it get in time for Christmas, but I have other things for my dad. It's just his pjs.

So FedEx is the only carrier that failed for me this year. After having no status updates for 3 days I was in contact with them. The first rep couldn't give me much info other than "hope you get your package before Christmas". I contacted FedEx social media and they did "research" on my package. They said it does not appear to be lost at this time, that they are unable to unload the freight from the trailer "due to the significant increase in holiday shopping." If UPS and the post office could handle/prepare for the increase in volume, why not FedEx? Huge fail on fedex's part.

My opinion of UPS has really gone down in the last month. They used to be my hands-down favorite in terms of cost/time/consistency, but I've now had more shipments coming through them that were delayed in the past 5 weeks than I've had on time. And the latest delay was (to me) insult to injury - a letter mailed from the same location on the same day arrived this morning when UPS's shipment won't be here until Monday end-of-day. Both were envelopes. I'm sure the USPS envelope cost a fraction of what the UPS shipment did.
