Oh, it's been an adventure. This is why I order early:
FedEx: not a single problem. Packages on time, doorbell rung and door knocked on every single time.
UPS: Not a single doorbell or door knock. Never is.
1. Had a package delivered after 9:30 pm (last time I looked outside, and turned the lights off)...it sat outside all night. It rained, and I had to take my lazy behind to Target to exchange a sopping wet WiiU for a dry version. They gave me all kinds of grief about the exchange too. I took in the whole thing, shipping box and all, and they opened the WiiU box and water poured out. I got the replacement, but it was 3 hours that I didn't want to spend at the store.
2. Had a package delivered and left by the garage door. It's less than 5 feet from there to my front door, but nope, too far to walk. It had just started sprinkling when I got the message it was delivered (thank goodness Amazon does this). Package saved.
3. Had a package go AWOL in their system. Said it was in SC when it was actually being shipped from across the country; same package registered as delivered on the same day (with the SC tracking info) as being ordered; and when the package was delivered, the tracking said it had just been sent to a depot in CA.
4. had another package go AWOL. Ten days later, it's delivered, badly damaged box. Luckily it was just some jeans for DS that I ordered from Target (because they never have his size in stock at the store here), so no damage to the clothes, but if it had been a video game or something breakable, it would have needed replacing.
5. I ordered 2 Kindles on the $35 sale. One arrived in Jacksonville in 3 days and was delivered the next. The other arrived in Jacksonville in 3 days, then was sent to Texas, then Louisiana, before making it's way back to Jacksonville and was delivered a week after the first.
USPS:
1. I have a package stuck in Chicago. From November. No one knows where it is.
2. I have a package stuck in CA. From November. No one knows where it is.
3. I have a package that was sent to Chicago and delivered to the "back door" of an apartment. There is no back door to this apartment. It was a "one of a kind" type present, and I can't find a replacement for it.
4. Every time UPS sends a package to USPS to be delivered, it gets "lost". Since Black Friday, the count for "lost" packages is 6. I have two more I'm waiting to be found, but received the other four anywhere from 3-5 days after the tracking says it's been delivered.
5. Multiple deliveries throughout the day. One would think they would deliver three packages to the same address all at once, but nope. Got 3 separate deliveries; one at the door, one at the garage door, and one at the mailbox (after the mail had already been delivered and picked up).
6. I had to send the rent check for December to the rental office in Vegas, because their online systems were down (changing something, not sure what, but they were down for 3 weeks) and the local office guy was on vacation for 2 weeks (he's the only one in the local office). I sent it registered, overnight, requiring signature. It arrived at their office in Vegas 8 business days (yep, only counting Mon-Fri) after being sent from FL. They didn't even get a signature...the mail person just dropped it in with the rest of the regular mail. I'm trying to get my money back for the overnight shipping and the signature. I'm lucky that the rental office listened to what happened, especially with the proof I paid for the overnight/signature and that it was the post office fail.
