So exactly when was it that you realized you were "hooked on Disney"?

Got the Disney magic? Can't explain it others? Spend all your time thinking about Disney related things? Always saving for your next trip? Always planning what resort should we do next? Dream about the Castle?

If any or all of these apply to you, you are definitely "hooked on Disney"

So my question is this.

Exactly when did you realize that you were "hooked on Disney"? Can you pinpoint the moment? Perhaps you have always loved everything Disney and can't exactly remember when it all started, but you just know you are.

Share. When did you know that you were "hooked on Disney"?

When DD and I got back from our 2003 trip. I had gone to WDW as a 13 year old back when EPCOT was just a series of "Look what's coming!" posters - not the best introduction for me since I wasn't getting along with Mom and was, well, 13 and jaded on the whole "kiddie stuff" experience. LOL

I took DD when she was 5 because we got a great deal and I figured I'd get the Disney thing out of the way. Well, sheesh, we had an absolute BLAST with all of the parks and the rides and the characters and just playing together. When I got back, I realized I was trying to convince my non-Disney parents that it'd be a great trip for all of us. Still haven't managed that, but DD and I have been back again once already and are headed again next month. We're hooked. :flower:

Now, to find a Mickey who would have fun at WDW (and other places, lol) with Minnie and a really great Princess. :goodvibes

On our drive out of WDW my dd started crying and said her wish (from the Wishes firework show) didn't come true. I asked what did she wish? Her answer, to live at WDW. I realized I wish that we lived there too:sad: .

I have a story, it's a little long but bare with me. We were taking my 9 y/o for her 3rd bday. To make a long story a little shorter, our original 7am flight was delayed, delayed, delayed, delayed and finally cancelled. We arrived in Orlando 12 hrs after schedule, wet(my daughter spilled soda all over us on the plane), and with no luggage(after all the flight confusuion, they sent our luggage to CT). We were really disappointed(to say the least). When we checked in the Disney people were great, but I couldn't get our wasted first day off my mind. They delivered our luggage in the middle of the night and we set out early the next day. At the MK, we had fun. Great rides, shows, pics of my daughter, etc. When we got back to the hotel, I was just starting to think that maybe this vacation was not worth the trouble we went through when my 2 y/o daughter grabbed my hand and said "today was a wonderful day" Such a profound statement from such a little person. Being able to watch a kids dreams come true, and experience happiness that she probably never even knew was possible is why we go back!

Well, I always felt like Cinderella. I've always loved her.

But I guess I knew Disney had me was when I was supposed to start planning a ski vacation and I kept comparing everything to Disney. I keep thinking "For the price of two to fly to Denver four can fly to Orlando" and "Gosh, lift tickets cost more then park hoppers", "That ski resort costs more then a Disney resort!!!"...you know those kinda comparisons. Now, I just have desire to go vacation anywhere else.

But, appearently I lost this battle and I'll be skiing next ski season. It's the only way I could dh to agree to another Disney vacation.

I cannot pinpoint when exactly I became hooked on disney.....

I have always loved disney... i was in high school and my best friend and I would shop at the disney store for school supplies, and even bought those "sippie" cups with straws for in our cars... (we needed help LOL)

But once I got married, had kids etc... I really saw the magic in it all! There is nothing like seeing the excitement on your childrens faces when they meet their fave character!

Once I found out how much fun the planning part was, I knew then and there this was an addiction I would never ever get over! Before we ever leave for the current trip, I am already in the early stages of planning the next trip! lol

Yes, I am the same way. I am lucky to be planning two trips this year. One to WDW and the other to Disneyland for their 50th. Really excited about the Disneyland trip, I was hooked at my favorite Disney moment time. Seeing Jiminy Cricket on the float in 1997. I knew then I had to get back to Disney. I am always thinking of what resort to stay at next, or what ride can I try next. I am somewhat of a chicken. I have worked my way up to Splash Mountain and Test Track. Space Mountain is my next scary step. I'm hooked - so are you - isn't it great!

For me it really sunk in when we decided there was no other option but to use a travel voucher we had won to pay for a ticket to Disney. We planned to return for our second trip NEXT year but this voucher made us realize how much we wanted to go again ASAP. There was never any discussion about going any where else! :Pinkbounc

When I was 10yrs old and my parents took us to Calif to visit a great uncle in Anaheim Ca and took us to Disneyland for one day. We were waiting for the fireworks and Tinkerbell flew thru the sky while the fireworks were going off. I was thrilled and wanted to come back. That was in 1961 and I wasn't able to return till 1973 for my honeymoon at WDW and a trip to Disneyland in 1974.

Hi,
I think i started my obession with disney when i was a kid....My dream vacation was going to WDW but my mother being a single parent at that time couldn't afford to take us....When my first child was born everything was mickey mouse and then my second son was born agian everything was mickey mouse....When i was able to take my children to WDW for Christmas i fell more in love with disney....It was my childhood dream vacation that i got to share with my children....They also enjoyed going to WDW to maybe not as much as mom except my little one who would love to live there....I can see the obession starting in him as i see in myself...

Hi!

The minute we knew that we were hooked was our first trip to the World June 2003 - we walked down Main Street and I looked at the look of amazement and happiness on my Darling Boys Faces :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: ....it was amazing!

Our first trip was in 1993 for our Honeymoon and we were hooked. We've been back at least 1x a year since then (many years we've managed to make it 2-3x). All of our DDs are hooked too and it's just wonderful. I've had friends ask "Don't the girls ever get tired of going to Disney?" and I can honestly say that they don't. And neither do we!

We knew we were hooked when it was time to leave our first trip and we were all tearing up and no one wanted to leave. On our flight home, we decided that we would try to come back as often as we can. :earsboy:
We were hooked! Planning for the next trip is the only cure!

Who out there, besides me, wants to try every Disney Resort at least once? Who out there, besides me, wants to eat in all of the restaurants? I want to visit at all of the major holidays. I want to soak in all of the hot tubs. I want to see all the parades. I want to see all of the characters. I think you get the idea. I want to do it all! the pocketbook allows me usually only one trip per year, so I am always planning the next one. Disney has me in its clutches, but I'm not complaining too much. Thankfully, the DIS boards and all the rest of you, who are also hooked, are passing your money saving ideas along, so our vacations to Disney can be more often and cost us less. Hooked on Disney and proud of it

I was hooked the moment we drove through the main Walt Disney Resort Entrance, I literally teared up, it was already magical just driving through to our resort.

I got hooked when I was either 4 or 5 years old, sometime in the early 1960's... my Uncle had gone to the Anaheim Convention Center for a builders conference and came back with Ears for my sisters and I. I was hooked on all things Disney! I then joined the Mickey Mouse Club Fan Club (I still have the membership card!). We made our first trek to Disneyland not long after, and the rest is history! I know Disneyland like the back of my hand, and now my family & I are just days away from our WDW trip! I'M SO EXCITED!!!

Oct 2001 when we first stayed at the Wilderness Lodge. The end of that wk we bought into Disney Vacation Club
I lost that Disney Magic Nov 02 and it was tough for a while.
When we returned to the Wilderness Lodge this past Oct I was skipping along the walkway singing "Im home, Im home!"
MIL thought I was nuts but as the wk went on and she was Welcomed Home she understood.

Call me crazy, but I did not get hooked until I was 38 (which I am now). I had never thought about going to WDW, never went as a kid... and really didn't care. Then we came into some money and DW and I decided to take the kids to WDW.

THEN I discovered these boards and that was the beginning of the end. The final straw came when we arrived at the MK on our first morning and were there for the opening celebration. I felt sooooo stupid with tears in my eyes and my 4 year old ds on my shoulders. Then I looked at DW and she was tearing up too! What a bunch!

Now, all I can do is think about the next trip!!!

It's not just "us females" that are Hooked. Nice to read a post from a DD refering to his DW. My DD stays home, hes missing all the fun.
