I know everyone here was trying to help and I took the advice of just about everyone but..........NO LUCK! I bought 800 speed film and used no flash with our minolta camera and the pictures still didn't turn out. Most focused just fine on peoples heads (if they were in the pic) but the lit-up castle and the fireworks were blurred. I did get a couple of Spectromagic that were fairly clear but the lighting isn't comparable to being there. Our daytime pictures were magnificent! I just spent $70 on developing and at least 3 rolls were basically wasted because they were of Spectro, Wishes, Illuminations, and Fantasmic! What a bummer. At least I have the memories in my heart and mind....but I really wish I had pictures to look at!!!! :(

You might enjoy watching it at www.spectromagic.com Also, you can do a search for pictures online and see if anyone else has posted some of their pics that turned out well. I know its not quite the same but its better than nothing. :)

I took a lot of pictures of Wishes with my digital camera. I would be happy to email them to you. I would have no problem if you liked them and wanted to pass them off as your own. hehehe But seriously, I HATE when my pictures dont come out, so I feel ya! PM me and I will send them to you via email...Just tell me the limit of how many pictures you would want...I took a bunch!!!

Absolutely...but be careful what you wish for...I took lots of pictures. I even shrunk one down for my avatar!

Great pictures!!! Yours are among the best I've seen of Spectromagic. Thanks so much for sharing!!!:teeth:

goofyDisney......I tried to take night time pictures with my digital and they are all either way too dark or very blurry....
What kind of settings did you use?
Please give me pointers on getting the best digital night time pictures?!

Also sending a PM to get a few of those Wishes pics!:hyper:

I didn't take the fireworks but did take Spectromagic.

Use manual exposure and manual focus if possible. Otherwise the camera will focus on and try to make the heads of nearby people look good to the detriment of other things.

Got reasonably good results with f/2.8 @ 1/30'th second for ISO 200 (or f/2.8 @ 1/60'th second for ISO 400). The unlighted parts of the floats, and persons walking alongside were too dark while the white lights outlining the buildings were washed out. I think fireworks (except some of the really bright stars) should be OK and the castle should show up OK

Open one stop more to get a better view of persons waling alongisde the floats of Spectromagic

Close one stop more if you found out that bright details got smeared, but Christmas lights hanging over Main St, and the castle itself, may be too dark.

Digital cameras usually have an ISO rating (usually 200) on which you can make your lens and shutter settings. Use the LCD panel viewfinder in back to see what you get. Some cameras have a lighten/darken control, sometimes labeled EV, instead of F stops. Experiment by setting this to maximum lighten.

For video you also need manual exposure. Otherwise all the color washes out. For a color viewfinder, adjust so the lights or fireworks look best. For a black and white viewfinder at least make the scene look like night if it is, not day, in the viewfinder.
