Kim (wookie)...girl!!! Bless your heart!!! This is just a roller coaster isn't it? Well, hopefully tonight you can pin him down on something...I ABHOR not being able to make a decision...just having to wait for park hours for Dec is bugging me!!!!!

Kim(Canada)~ I know your girls are gonna love Bible school, and yay for you taking some time to do things that need to be done.

Drakes~ Sorry things are stressful for you right now:flower3: We are glad to 'bear your burdens' with you!! We need people to talk to sometimes...once it's out of your mouth, it's less on your heart!! It just doesn't seem so bad once it gets voiced and you can have a little understanding and sympathy. We will be praying for your daughter...keep us posted!!!

No we haven't "officially" decided. I think I feel safe with a Jan trip. I have a little stressor right now...DD's dad(my ex) needs to provide a letter to allow me to travel with her. So I don't book anything until I have that to avoid any loss in money.
As well DD requires a ultrasound next week due to a health concern - so depending on the results, that may postpone things.

We're also waiting on the orthodontist bill.

There has been alot of stressors in the drakes household.

I normally don't share this much on the boards, but I need to let it out, I find I keep it all inside - so many people think my life is perfect and I am so strong... if only they knew this is just the immediate things on my mind...

Thanks to those who are reading this :)

I hope everything comes out ok. Some times it just feels good to vent a little. We'll keep you guys in our thoughts and prayers, especially with your DD's ultrasound.

Honestly when I get really stressed and I'm feeling like I'm God's red headed step-child that he is dumping all the crap on, I just repeat the part of the quote from Walt Disney where he says "keep moving forward."

Thanks, it has been. These are the following changes the trip has made and the only thing that has stayed the same was the Dlx DDP
Trip1: the week of Christmas 2008 for 10 nights, Poly MK view room
Trip 2: the week of Christmas 2008 for 10 nights, WL courtyard bunk bed room
Trip 3: the first week of December 2008 10 nights, WL courtyard bunk bed room
Trip 4: the week of Mother's Day 2009 7 nights, CR MK view room Atrium club level
Trip 5: the week of Mother's Day 2009 7 nights , CR MK view room Atrium club level + 3 nights WL courtyard bunk bed room (thanks to 4/3 deal starting at WL)
Trip 6: January 8-16, 2010 CR Tower MK view room
Trip 7: December 3-8, 2010 CR Tower MK view room
and now Trip 8: November 13- 19, 2010 CR Tower MK view room

Honestly that's one change too many. Oh well at least DH is promising that we will go between now and 11:59 PM on December 31, 2010. I need my WDW fix!! I haven't stood on Main Street with the castle before me smelling freshly made popcorn since October 2006.
He looked at the calendar and "thinks" he will be out of school in October. He only has 5 classes to go and their sememster are only 8 weeks long. Even with taking off the semester in November/ December this year for the holidays he should be finished. Well that is as long as every semester they offer a class he needs to take. He could technically be in school for our trip. I started to threaten his life, and I must have had a crazy women look on my face b/c he said "I know if I am in school I will just take the semester off to be able to go to WDW."

If I had the energy to deal with it, I would start a ptr called something like "1 change, 2 change, 3 change, o heck just how many changes to a trip can I make before I go."

You COULD just add that to your sig file, anyway!! :)

We're off to IL this morning for a quick weekend trip. I am a tad disappointed because we'd originally hoped to go to Six Flags. Unfortunately, my surgery recovery hasn't been as fast as I'd have wanted, so we decided not to. Otherwise, it would be walking all day at Six Flags, all day Friday at a Fiber & Folk Art festival, and all day Saturday in Chicago. Can you imagine the tired sore crankypants person I'd be before day #3 even starts?! ;)

I do think the cartilage damage/osteoarthritis that's also in my knee is really what's slowing me down. I had (really minor) arthroscopic surgery on June 26th. Even my 60 year old father, who is not the least bit fit or healthy, recovered faster than I did from his knee surgery last summer... but then, he doesn't have the arthritis like I do. So my knee is recovering from surgery and it's always a tad bit swollen from the arthritis. But now it's more swollen because of the surgery on top of the arthritis. In turn, when I try to bend my leg, my knee locks up, which is another symptom of it all.

Oh well, I suppose. It could be worse; it's just frustrating. I am looking forward to spending all day tomorrow with one of my steadiest and most loyal friends (she was one of my bridesmaids) and then looking forward to both the Harry Potter movie AND the exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry!

And it's the same friend that I'm dragging off to Disney World! That's two months from tomorrow!!!

Here's a random question for many of you out there: what do you do for (wedding/dating/whatever) anniversaries? I am usually grinchy and all we do is go out for a nice quiet meal together. Do you do the same? Do you exchange presents?

We don't need to have details to keep you and your daughter in our thoughts. I hope the things stressing you are over soon.

You better take it easy now so your knee is healthy for the important stuff- you know Disney!
I'm heading to see the HP movie Saturday and I can't wait. :wizard:
Our anniversary is on the 28th- 8 years. We usually don't do anything big. We're going out to dinner without kids this year which is big for us since it never happens. DH always brings me flowers but we don't do gifts unless it's something personal like a love letter or something thoughtful. Although let me tell you that hasn't happened since our early pre-kid anniversaries:laughing:.

For anniversaries, we do give gifts...but my big thing is cards!! My hubby always writes me a wonderful letter, or gives me a card with something beautiful he has written. Gifts may be tiny, or may be big....just depends....on finances, or if we have been wanting something in particular. Hope that knee heals up soon.....your trip will be here before you know it!!!!!!:wizard:

Can I ask a silly question? What's "Crocodile Dock"? I know it's some sort of vacation Bible study, but what do you do there to make the kids want to come? I know that around here, it's a struggle to get kids to Hebrew School, so I'm just curious. (And maybe I can steal a few ideas to present to our synagogue!)

Crocodile Dock is the theme for our VBS week, too. Our VBS week is the 26-30. If you'll recall from the previous chat, we just started attending this church in February. We couldn't be more thrilled or feel more at home. The children's pastor is just wonderful and I honestly think he lives for VBS week each year!! I know for us they're doing the whole cajun/swamp theme. He's turning the sanctuary into a swamp! He'd love to have a real alligator, but I don't think that's going to work out for him. :rotfl2: Unfortunately I'll be out of town on business that week, but DH is volunteering - I believe his words were "put me anywhere but with the babies." :lmao:

We usually don't do much for anniversaries (or Christmas or Birthdays, although DH got to spend his bday with the "whole world". I wanted to do something this year for our 10 yr (Sept 4) but it doesn't look like it will happen! We have two trips planned next year so all the money and vacation time needs to go toward that! If anything, we go out to dinner, but even that just depends what's going on. I was planning on trying to get an overnight babysitter this year, so we can at least go somewhere for dinner and drinks and then sleep in...:cloud9:

Shelly...the torment!!!! It's killing me... I know it's driving you nuts!!!! At least you are moved, tho'. You had a lot of decisions there for a while. We did go in Nov back in 02...It was great weather wise...I think my boys wore shorts the whole time...I was pregnant with #3,so I just did my maternity capris....but definitely short sleeve shirts!!! they swam too...we were at the Poly.. I thought the water was a tad bit chilly, but they liked it!!!! Would you not consider going when it's Dec and seeing the decor? (Can ya'll tell I want more of you to go when I go?)

December would be the same as November as far as DH getting time off from work. We were going to go in December one year, but moved it up to May instead. The December crowds scare me! Not that I don't like people, I just don't like them in my way at Disney!! :rotfl:

At this point we still don't know if it will be Nov or Jan. . . Hopefully we will know soon!

DH and I don't do a whole lot for anniversaries and birthdays for each other as far as gifts. I always tell him not to spend much - put the money in the Disney fund and I am happy! :goodvibes

Our VBS is next week! I am jealous that it is not Crocodile Dock like everyone else!!

Glad to hear that you have settled into your new church so nicely.

I was really shocked at the crowd size this past January!! I don't think the last time we went in Dec was much more crowded than Jan. Maybe the Christmas party was busier,..as far as evening crowds.. but we waited about the same amount of time for the rides in Dec as in Jan. Epcot was slower...I think DHS was about the same. Hopefully we won't have tooo long to wait in Dec!!! I hope we can get there earlier in the mornings and hit the big stuff !!! Do most of ya'll go for the rope drop? What time do ya'll get to the parks? We usually get there around 10..the kids like to sleep late, so I let 'em!!!! I think they are old enough now(the littlest is 6) that they won't be totally exhausted to do some early mornings and late nights!!

Okay, I am gonna make this the QOTD:Do you do rope drop;what time do you arrive at the parks?

Okay, I am gonna make this the QOTD:Do you do rope drop;what time do you arrive at the parks?

We do one of 2 things. We either get up early and get to the park before rope drop (usually around 8:30) and stay until about 3-4. OR we sleep in and get to the park sometime between 12-2 and stay until close. That way we can hit the parks early with less crowds some days and others we get to sleep in! :cloud9:

that is what I want to do this time...we will be going to MVMCP one night, so that will definitely make us sleep late the next day!! I am going to do Rope Drop at Mk tho'!! Gotta see that show!!!

Okay, I am gonna make this the QOTD:Do you do rope drop;what time do you arrive at the parks?

The only "rope drop" I've been to was on this past January. We got to Hollywood Studios for morning EMH so we could do Toy Story Mania. We didn't see anything though. The CM's just held everyone and then let us go. So it wasn't exciting.

On my sister's birthday we got to the park about 5 minutes after opening and we saw some of the characters still at the Train Station.

We try to get to the park by mid-morning, but that depends on what our plans are for the day.

Another great QOTD!

We almost ALWAYS do rope drop, arriving 15-30 minutes before park opening and rushing to our favorite rides. We are pooped by late morning and then need an early lunch. Afternoons are relaxed. Evenings are fun and we don't usually stay up too late...so we can do rope drop again! Repeat the next day...

QOTD: This past trip was the first time we've been there for rope drop and we only made it once but it was on my Must Do list. I'd like to make it there at least once my next trip too. I don't like waking my kids and rushing them too much in the morning- sometimes it backfires later in the day :headache:.

Anyone ever been to Animal Kingdom first thing- I thought they did something special but we never made it there for opening to find out. I may have to put that on my Must Do list for this trip!

Okay, I am gonna make this the QOTD:Do you do rope drop;what time do you arrive at the parks?

It depends on the trip. For the brief ones with my friend, I always try to make rope drop (3 days, 4 parks - you gotta!). In 2005, my husband and I stayed off site but we made it for rope drop each day (the days were pretty short) and we managed to catch fun openings at all parks but HS. This year, we were little more "well, whatever" which comes with having gone a few times. hee!!

Also, thanks everyone for their input about anniversaries. I kind of feel like doing something different this year, since it's been a bummer summer with the trips we've had to cancel. But it looks like a lot of people don't do much, either. It's our 9th this year. Next year, for our 10th, well, we're going to Europe. ;)

sarah~ Saving up for Europe would be awesome!! :yay: But, I am just a gifty-girl!!!! I HAVE to do it!!! I know some people don't care one way or another, but I like doing it... my hunny does too. Of course, if I knew in a little less than a year, I was goin' to be Across the Pond....a great card with a sweet love note inside would do the trick!!!!:lovestruc

Okay girls....guess what? I am sitting at my table looking out side at a GEOURGOUS sweet gum tree right outside my back fence.

AND.....the outer, bottom leaves are turning colors!!!!!There is also a little oak tree to the left of my kitchen that has a few bright reddish leaves on it. My birthday is next week...and here it is usually the hottest week we have (barring heat waves;) ) and then within 1-2 weeks you can feel the change coming in the air....it's one of my Favorite Things. How exciting!! I am a fall lover!!! We still have some absolutely scorching days here in the fall, but you can just feel the change in the atmosphere----it's not so heavy.
I know ya'll have heard me whine all summer about feeling bad in the summer and what not. Well, I went to the Dr a couple of weeks ago and had a scad of bloodwork done.....we are trying to find out why I keep feeling this way. I thought perhaps I was anemic again, or had some lurking illness. Well, it all came back okay.:yay: I am not harboring some draining ailment. So...he said it is probably all hormone related. I personally think it really is the weather here. As soon as summer ends....I feel soooo much better. When I was a kid, one of my grandmothers would get her husband to travel all summer....she couldn't take the heat either. They would go to Colorado, then travel up to Canada....she always said it was cause she was 'heavy' that she couldn't take the heat....her house was like a meat locker. Really..we would have blankets and quilts in the summertime!!!! But, now, I don't think it was her weight at all....I could definitely lose 10#s,but i am not overweight and I just am miserable here from June into Sept.

so, I told Mike that for medical reasons, we have to move to a northern border state, or Canada.:rotfl:

:rotfl:
I love that! My house is always freezing, year round never above 68. I'm sitting in sweatpants/sweatshirt right now. It also doesn't help that it's only 58 outside, with a high of 64 today. Has anyone else noticed that this has been an odd summer as far as weather?

Hope everyone has a good friday and a great weekend!
