Just wanted to tell ya'll that I posted a great fudge recipe over on my Christmas thread. It's the fudge that I make for our Christmas parties and put in our tins for gifts. Just in case you were interested!!:goodvibes

Good morning Snowbirds! :cool1::cool1::banana::banana:

Oh my goodness, did we go an entire DAY with no posts? I guess mine might show up dated Sunday...I still haven't figured out DIS time! :confused3 Hope everyone had a nice weekend, and that all the sick Snowbirdies are on the mend!

This is me: :scared1: We leave for our cruise this SATURDAY and I'm so unprepared! I haven't made a single list! I know many of you are very organized, which I am not :rolleyes1 but this is bad even for me. Guess I should stop DISing and start organizing and listing!

Oh no!! I would be in full-panic-mode!!! Girl...get busy!!! Make sure you take some pictures and give us details!! Ya'll are gonna have so much fun!!!

So, we are officially canceling our trip in December.
We decided that we need to save the money and time for visiting family before we leave for Korea, and traveling around Asia while we're there.
I am kind of sad that I won't get to use my Annual Pass one more time before the end of the year, but I think I got plenty of use out of it.
I can't wait to here about all y'all's trips though.

I've been looking at stuff for Tokyo Disney and Hong Kong Disneyland, and I am getting really excited about them, even though we probably won't go to either for probably 2 years from now.

I'm sorry you had to cancel your trip. I know how hard that can be even if it your decision to do it. I had almost totally forgotten that my DH has a highschool friend that is stationed in Seol, Korea.

We had a good weekendbut it started really bad. Friday David and I laid down for a nap and set the alarm for 1PM. Since the boys didn't have to get picked up until 2:45 & 3, 1 was way early right? Nope, b/c they had early release day and we forgot about it. I learned it only takes you being 45 minutes to hour being late before the school district threatens to turn my kids over to CPS. Saturday I took my English final, and my professor said that it had been "a pleasure to have me in her class." Then we went to David's parent's house. They had been saying that they don't see us enough, so we spent the night. Sunday we hung out, watched the Blue Angels, and watched some football. There was an airshow at an airport near their home and the Blue Angels flew right over their house. The boys didn't have school today, so Joey stayed the night again Sunday night. He went today to work with his Papaw, who owns his own appliance repair business. Last night we had a nasty storm, so John didn't want to sleep by himeself. He snuggled up with myself and my DH last night in our room. I have John on fever watch right now. He's been coughing and having a lot of sinus drainage. Hopefully it's just allgeries.
Right now I'm trying to convine my DH to go to WDW over our anniversary with the kids and do a land/sea trip. However the almost $10K price tag is not helping my cause.

Hello Birdies. My weekend was good. I was able to switch shifts with a co-worker so I only had to work til 4:30 on Saturday, so I got to hang out with my sister that night. We actually did a lot of planning for next summer. Also my sister and brother are coming home for Christmas.

Today I need to do some cleaning and laundry and make my Christmas list. We exchange names in my immediate family, so now I just need to come up with something for my list other than MONEY. I'm trying to think of things I could use on the trip. I don't want to ask for clothes, because as of today I'm already down 10 lbs. and fit in absolutely none of my winter clothes anymore( so I really have no idea what size I'm wearing anymore). Which I am happy about, but that also means I have to spend money right now so I don't freeze.

So here's a question (feel free to yell at me if it's too early to think about this...:rotfl:): What is one thing you really want for Christmas this year?

That sounds awfully high! Does it include the airfare, insurance and transfers? I thought kids were supposed to cruise free at least on some cruises. You might try to price it out separately. We put together our own Land/Sea package and with the discounts WDW offers you might be able to do it cheaper. You'd have to factor in transportation, but it's worth a shot.

Our weekend was a mixed bag. Friday was nasty weather, had to leave work early to go to school conferences, which went great! Then DD6 had a slight fever - uh-oh. DD8 went to a slumber party (coughing), DD6 went to grandma's for a sleepover. DH and I went to a neighborhood adults only Halloween party! We dressed as Dora and Diego. I know, not Disney :scared1:
Lots of fun - I drank lots of wine. DH had to work Sat a.m. so I had to pick up DD8 at 9 from the party. Oh, was I hurting! SO we took it easy all day and that night we carved pumpkins and played card games and watched the Charlie Brown Halloween DVD. Very fun. Took it easy yesterday too, watched football and met some friends in the evening. No more fevers, just coughing. Today DH says he has a sore throat. Jeez, what next?
I told them we can all be sick now, but no one is allowed to be sick in December! I'm going to go home after work and wipe down the house again.

Oh Sheree!! You are so funny!!!! I know that feeling of wanting the sickness to come now and LEAVE!!! We can NOT be sick in Dec!!!!! I would hate that! dd was sick the week we left last year, dh got sick the last park day, and dd relapsed the last day...she still managed...but I knew she was just trying to stick it out!!!!! Can you believe we are 6 weeks out!!!!! WOOHOO!!!! Still trying to convince dh I need that new Jessica Simpson luggage;) It's cheaper to buy carry-ons, right?!!!!!

Boo. :( But all the neat places you'll see, overseas, instead!

To have a pain-free knee!!! And be off crutches!!

Alternately, I just heard about this crazy website, called http://www.yearoflace.com/. It looks amazing - gorgeous lace weight yarn and beautiful patterns to knit. But, I gotta say, the price tag is pretty insane. It would be fun, if I won the lottery, though!

My weekend was, um, uneventful. The parents took off on Saturday and DH and I just bummed around the house (duh) all weekend. I had a meltdown last night, about not being able to do ANYTHING for myself right now. I wanted popcorn. I pop it a certain way and while DH would ABSOLUTELY do what I asked, I still have to go through the hassle of explaining it to him and following up and and and and it was apparently a huge tragedy.

I had cheese, instead. But a much better mood today - I FINALLY got my staples out!

When the staples came out, the incision flattened, and most of the pain went away. Then, the physician's assistant unlocked my brace and I'm now allowed to bend my knee (or work on it, really). I'll see my surgeon in another 3-4 weeks and then I'll be allowed back to work. So, while I can't do anything, I hurt less, bending my leg is great, and I'm far more chipper.

I just need to save my pennies like CRAYZEE and then talk someone into going to Disney with me, when I'm healed, yes? :)

I would love a Kindle. I need it for school. Both of my classes this next semester use online books, and they can be dl'd to a Kindle.

It did include airfare. It was 5 nights at the WL and a 4 night cruise with a balcony. I have several phobia's and I think that the inside stateroom is just a panic attack waiting to happen for me. Our anniversary is near 4th of July, so it's not a cheap time to go. Honestly there are so many things that I want to do, that I'm not sure what we'll really end up doing. I would still love to go for a few days (kid less) on our anniversary and then take the kids later in the year. If we couldn't take the kids later in the year, I wouldn't think about going kid less for our anniversary. We still have time to go before we have to book anything.

I'm glad to hear that you got your staples out and that most of the pain went with them. It's amazing sometimes little things can make the biggest difference in your mood. When I was in the hospital with my oldest son I had to stay on my left side. Just being allowed to lay flat, lay on my right side or sit up put me the the best mood. Honestly even being allowed to walk to the bathroom made me happy.

Sarah - Yeah on the staples being out and feeling better! That's got to be such a huge relief!!

Weekend - ours was pretty uneventful. It was our first non-soccer weekend, since the tournament was last weekend -- did I tell you all the DS's team WON the championship!?!?! I'm so proud of all the kids. Most had not played before and we had to play to "stacked" teams to get that championship. They were so excited!! Anyway...back to the weekend. We carved our pumpkin on Sunday. We're enjoying a little of an Indian summer this week, and then back to the chilly fall weather.

Good afternoon ladies. Luckily the boys are just coughing, and sneezing. I got the throwing up part. I would much rather it be me doing it than them. DH and I had a long talk last night and decided on Washington DC for our anniversary. We have to see how long we can get a babysitter for, b/c that will determine what else we do. I would love to go to Gettysburg, Jamestown, Philly, and stop by and see our friends that live in VA. We'll just have to wait and see how long who ever is going to watch them can watch them for. It's going to be a lot of walking, so as soon as I get over what I have, we're going to start walking every day. Also we talked about Disney. We are thinking either October or early December. I'm going to ask the boys which they would like better since I am torn between the two. I would love to see the parks dressed up for Christmas, but that's so far away. We've already been during October (and loved it), but it is sooner. Right now my brain just keeps thinking "get there asap". Since I can't think clearly about it, I'm putting it up to the boys. I'll be happy with whatever they pick b/c I know they will be happy with it. Well I'm rambling, so have a great day all.

Well the boys were about as much help as a foam hammer while building a house. Joey (DS11) said Christmas b/c he hasn't seen the parks at Christmas time. John (DS10) said he would love to see the parks at Christmas time, but then remembered all the candy we got at MNSSHP and picked October. Maybe we'll just go in December. That way I can take that semester off and not have to worry about school work next Christmas. Anyone know if early October or early December is a better time for crowds?

That's exactly what I'm thinking.

For those of you who are planning trips for December thru February (well... parts of it anyways)
Southwest released a deal that expires on Thursday for low fares for off-peak times
# Purchase by October 29, 2009, 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.
# Travel Dec. 2 - Dec. 16, 2009 and Jan. 5 - Feb. 10, 2010.
# Travel valid every day except Sundays.

The fare I found from Kansas City to Orlando was only $78 each way, and SW doesn't charge baggage fees. I think it's probably a good thing I already canceled my trip yesterday, because otherwise those fares would have me seriously considering not canceling.
They may help us with visiting some of my more aging family members though. I just don't know if we'll be able to nail down plans by Thursday.
I just thought I'd share it with my Snowbird friends in case they don't receive updates regularly from Southwest.

Thanks, I didn't even think about SW. I may have to check them out for our July trip. We're trying to go as cheap as possible since we still want to do WDW next year as well.

Kim~ As far as picking between Oct and Dec....I think a lot of it is depending on your preferences...we have been twice in Oct..the first time the crowds were fairly low and the weather was great. Second time the crowds were a bit larger and the heat/humidity was still there. Since we are from the same area, you understand how disappointed I was!! We have enough of that here, don't want to spend vacation with it that weather. December(the first part) is great crowd wise..weather is all over the place from year to year...we have worn shorts and tees one day, then had to buy tobaggans the next!!! I would just pick Dec.....but that's me. Now that I have said that, watch us go for Halloween next year!!!!:lmao:
