Anyone know what a "bubbler" is !??! :lmao: That's always a dead give away as to where I'm from!

A tobogan is a sled here too. My sister is in KY and it's a hat there, but her first year she had no idea so a student came into the training room and asked if he left his tobogan. My sister started laughing and said does it look like your sled is here?

Soda? Sparking wine? What is it? Your sis sounds too funny.

Well today is wet and cold, but it's a great day. I have an empty house until the boys get out of schoo. My DH's dad needed his help at work, so he's gone for the day. Oh and I learned a lesson this morning. Watching Cougar Town while sitting in front of my laptop drinking a Route 44 Dr. Pepper from Sonic is a bad idea. Luckily I didn't spew any on the screen when I laughed. It did get on the laptop, but hopefully not enough that I have to explain to my DH how it got there.

o, I didn't even think of that.

I talked again to the boys this morning. I just so happened to be looking at the Chirstmas picture thread. John came into the room and saw the pics, and said he wanted to see WDW with more Christmas light. I then went to youtube and played a video of the Osborne lights. As soon as he saw that, he decided he wanted to go during December on our next trip. I have knitting scarves down, and I plan on learning to make hats (caps, toboggans, whatever ;p). I'm thinking that since I will have over a year, that I could make us all matching scarves and hats for the trip (just in case it's cold). I don't think I'll have time to master knitting gloves in that time, but I can try. Otherwise, I'll just buy gloves that look good with the colors I picked. Maybe Christmas red and green, but I'm afraid if I do that stripped it may look too Freddy Krueger-ish.

Same in MA - except, of course, it's a "bubblah". I still call it a bubbler, too.

I've had a rough couple of days. I'm home alone. I have plenty to do but I'm bored and don't wanna. I haven't slept well, so I end up taking long naps and feel grumpy after I wake up.

But, on the positive side, my muscle memory is returning! I only needed a slight help from my husband to lift my leg and then I did the rest of my exercises on my own. Woohoo!! Plus, I finally got the leg bent past 90 degrees. It's slow going, but we're getting there. The brace, however, is evil and heavy. I think I'll just take it off when I'm on the sofa so that I can work on bending my leg.

Oh well!

Oh Yeah, the beverage thing is so funny! In MN most people call it pop, but I say soda because when I was in college in MA, I got laughed at! Usually when I'm asked what I would like to drink, I just tell them specifically what I want. I knew someone who was from Atlanta (home of coke) and EVERYTHING was coke. Even if you wanted orange, you said Orange Coke. Now how odd is that?:lmao:

The pahk the cah thing is definitely more of a coastal New England thing. You don't see a lot of it in Western MA and it's touch and go in Central MA.

My DH grew up with pop. I grew up with soda. He says soda now. My favorite story is when his brother was visiting us in Boston. He asked the waitress what kind of pop they had. What? she asked. "What kind of pop?" "Huh?" I interpreted: Soda. Oh, language!

I also grew up with "soda." But I ran into trouble when I moved to Massachusetts! Some people call it soda up here, but the "natives" (you know, those who have been here for 8 generations) don't. They call it "tonic."

I like to drink tonic water sometimes. We went one night to a bar, and I asked for a glass of tonic. Server: "What kind?" Me (confused): "Oh, Canada Dry, Schweppes, whatever." Her: "No, what kind? Coke? 7 Up?" Me: "You know, a gin & tonic?" Her: "Yes." Me: "Fine. Bring me a gin & tonic - hold the gin!"

I know we usually heal slower than we want, but it's sounds like your is going well. I hope it keeps going well and better than the doctor predicted.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: too funny.

Tonight since my DH and I both weren't feeling well I decided to watch a movie with him. Actually I was watching one when he got home (The Proposal) and he didn't want to finish it. I wanted something funny and light-hearted. While he was looking at Netflix, I went to check on the boys. I came back to his version of "light-hearted" which was "Faces of Death". Thankfully it was his version of a joke. We then got to watch "The Goebbels Experiment". They used his own diary and videos. I just felt so sorry for his children, since I knew what happened to them. DH and I both love history, so it was actually pretty interesting.

Oh Wookie-Looooove the ticker!!!
We are having cooler weather again!! It's in the high 50s with rain...at least I can open the door to air out the house with out the air coming on!!!!! DS10just got up and he said "I don't feel bad anymore"!! Praise the Lord!! I am gonna send him to take a shower and see if we can eat breakfast today!!!DS13 still has fever and a sore throat.

Thanks!! Today, I was able to do leg lifts entirely on my own, my knee is bending more easily. You're right; progress is always slower than we want! Despite knowing that recovering is measured in inches and not feet (especially since my foot doesn't get to touch down!), I think I'm covering some pretty good inches.

My DH has also decided to take a vacation day once a week, to stay home with me. I'm thrilled.

I'm soooo glad that DS10 is feeling better!! :goodvibes What a tough time for your whole family!

Funny, your temperatures are about the same as our's. Today, we're supposed to get in to the 60s, with rain all day.

Hey all! Just checking in!
Busy weekend coming up for all, I assume?? We have Trunk-or-treat at Drew's school tonight, IF ONLY IT WOULD STOP RAINING ALREADY!!!!! We'll do it in the gym and thru the halls if it's raining, but that's not near as much fun! Andy had a theme all planned out but decided not to do it since we probably won't be near the "trunk" anyway. Now watch it end up being nice and we'll have the naked trunk! :scared1:

Then tomorrow morning a soccer game if the fields are dry (yeah, right), then trick-or-treating thru the neighborhood and hanging out with the neighbors! We usually go to my SIL's for Halloween, but I'm looking forward to staying home and hanging out and relaxing! I think I'll go get stuff for smores! Because we all need a little more sugar in our lives! :rotfl:

Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable weekend! Now if only this work day would hurry along...4 more hours...

Well, we're off in the morning for Barcelona to start our cruise! :cool1: Ready or not...which as of now we're not! I hope you all have a happy Halloween and a great week ahead. Shelly, you'll be leaving before I get back--have a great trip! I can't wait to read all about it...especially how you liked the Haunted Mansion! :wizard:

Thank you!! Hopefully this one will stick and not get changed. We're having great weather. The highs are in the low to mid 70's and the lows in the upper 40's to low 50's. Hopefully the boys will stop coughing by tomorrow night, so we don't have to cut trick-or-treating short. I'm glad your DS10 is feeling better.

OK, I have to ask - when I first read the post I thought it was a typo - what's Trunk-or-Treat???

XXX
Happy Halloween (a couple hours early). I have to work all day tomorrow so I don't have a chance to hand out candy, which is something that I've done for years now. But after work I'll head over to a friends house for a party, but I have to work on Sunday so I won't be drinking at all (:confused3).

Everyone have a great time with your kids! :wizard: Here's hoping they score tons of great candy that they will share with Mom and Dad :rotfl:.

Our school does "trunk-or-treat" every year where all the parents park kind of in a circle in the school parking lot, or you can just bring your lawn chair. We decorate the trunks, backs of trucks, etc, and the kids go car to car for candy! We have costume and trunk decorating contests, you can pre-order pizzas, it's just a safe area just for the school families that the kids can trick or treat and you don't have to worry about inspecting the candy or keeping a real close eye on your kids. They get TONS of candy, the parents can sit back and let the kids run around because they close the parking lot-no one in or out until it's over, it's just lots of fun!
