Sick snowbirdies here, too! Yesterday Drew woke up with a fever, and I ended up coming home from work chilled, achey, just feeling overall ICK! Didn't feel feverish, but about 1/2 hr after taking tylenol I'd start sweating, so I guess I was! We've been in bed all day today. Drew hasn't had a fever since the middle of the night, I think mine's been off and on. There is SO much gunk going around right now. Several of Drew's friends have tested postive for H1N1, but the local Dr's aren't really giving the Tamaflu because they say the side effects are making people pukey sick and only lessening the flu symptoms by about a day! WHO KNOWS! So many different opinions! Hope you all are staying well!

Hello to all my Snowbuddies!!! Well, I went for my yearly check up today, couldn't see my regular Dr. so I saw the NP girl....glad it's over for another year. After that I beat it back home to take ds10 to the Dr.- he was feeling a little yuck yesterday(me too)...but today he woke up with fever...it is a sinus infection. So....Rx and mucinex + a ton of fluid and he should feel better tomorrow! They said the flu is on the wane here it looks like..but that when school started they were swamped...and most of it was swine flu...the rest was Strep Throat!!!:scared1:

WOW!!! :scared1: 10 weeks! That is a long time! Well, hopefully, if all goes well, you will be able to go out and have a good celebration for your birthday! Maybe you should go dancing! :dance3: :rotfl:

 I don't think I'll be up for that for a few months after my birthday! ;) I need clarification if I'm going to be using a cane after my crutches or if I'll just be freeeeeeeeeee. But it'll be a long time before I'm more active then walking...

...then, hopefully, a longer time until I even have to think about my knee again!!

The upside for me, on being home, is that I hope to miss out on the plague. I usually fight sinus infections from mid-to-late October until about March. I'm hoping that the weeks of being at home will just let me go that much longer before I get sick.

that is definitely the positive here!!! I know what you mean!! Everybody I know has some kind of sickness right now....unfortunately for us, DS10 was the first sinus infection he had seen in a while...but thank goodness it wasn't the flu!!!!! Today, my eyes are hurting and my throat feels tight...guess I will go take an allergy pill for breakfast!

Hello everyone. I had a great day! It was outlet mall shopping day with friends. We left at 7am traveled to the Chicago area and shopped. The weather was absolutely perfect for this time of year, I'd say probably in lower 60's and sunny. I saw a Red Sox jacket that I love and wanted, but stopped myself from spending $120 for it. Then I only spent $12.87 at the Disney Store, and didn't buy a thing for myself :confused3:rotfl:. I'm rather proud of myself :flower3:.

Now it's back to reality. My sister is coming home tomorrow for the weekend and since she decided that earlier this week, I didn't have a chance to request off. So I work everyday she is here, 12pm-8pm, not nice hours.

Arr. I typed up a reply and closed the window instead of hitting, well, reply.

crzyred, as big a Red Sox fan as I am, I wouldn't have paid $120 for the jacket either!

Yesterday, I had a friend come visit and today, my dad flies in!

The friend visiting was nice - it was the first since before my surgery. She was a great guest/babysitter, and since we had her stay for dinner (her boyfriend was out of town AND he's a vegetarian AND we had meatloaf), she even helped with clean up and set up (my mom made the meatloaf ahead of time and my friend ended up putting it in the oven for her). (My mom also got the chance to leave the house in daylight - ha ha ha - since she's been "stuck" at home with me, while DH has been working!)

My friend also brought one of those bizarre but tasty Michigan treats - a bumpy cake! It's typically a cake, with a hard chocolate frosting covering a white buttercream (or even just cream) on top of the cake. She got one that had toffee in it. Yum YUM. Yet, so strange!!

Morning Birdies!!:goodvibes
Well....we are off to a fabulous morning!! It's 7:30 and it's still preeeetty dark..we have about a 90% chance of rain and it's rained most of the night...another cool front coming in behind all this rain! Which, we need(the rain) because our pollen/allergen counts are listed as very high this week..so, this should beat them down a bit!
We have a busy day..dd has Ballet, ds#1 has Guitar, and ds#2 just decided to do Guitar also, so that will be today also. Busy, busy!!!!
Sarah~ Glad you had some company and you are feeling a little better! How is the incision...still itchy? Good sign! But,...I was told with my C-sections if the itching got too bad, to lay a warm wash rag or something like that to ease it...if not you are soooo tempted to scratch it!!!!
Well, hope you all have an awesome day!!!!

Morning Snowbirds! I'm having a slow day here. My day care kids are sick which is nice because I get a day off but not nice becasue it probably means my kids will have it next. Hoping it's not the dreaded swine!

Shawna- sounds like you have a busy but fun day ahead of you! Enjoy!!!

Less than $13 at the Disney store...oh how I admire your strength! :worship:
Hope you make the most of the time you have with your sister. Or you could just call in sick and enjoy more time together :rolleyes1

That does sound yummy- strange but yummy. Then again cake is good no matter what you do to it.

Hey Birdie Buddies! :goodvibes

 and :wizard: to all the sickos out there! :goodvibes I am one myself so I understand! Hope we all get better really soon! Some of us have trips to plan! :)

It's still itchy! But it's Friday and the staples come out on Monday, so hooray. Also, I find that icing my knee seems to help quite a bit to kill the itchies! :headache: (I don't think I'm going to watch them take the staples out, whereas I do watch them take out stitches)

Sarah - That cake sounds so YUMMY!!!!

The cake WAS yummy. It's all gone, now, though. :scared1: I'm glad that the bakery isn't anywhere near me, though!

Well, my dad has arrived! Today, he's going to built a table my mom found for me (at Joann's for $5!) and then put in a handheld showerhead in the bathtub. Hooray for daddies! :)

Sarah..glad your dad is there and can help you out with all those 'manly' jobs! I didn't actually watch them take my C-sections staples out...couldn't really, as I couldn't bend--it hurt too bad...but it was quite a creepy feeling..didn't hurt or anything..just weird cause it's numb....

I agree. I had 2 c-sections (1 emergency and 1 planned) and it didn't hurt to have them removed. Creepy is a good word to describe it. Although when I had mine removed from my 1st one, I went in fully expecting it to hurt. When they removed the first one, I semi-yelled "ouch". It was enough to scare the person that was removing them, followed by them apologizing over and over and how they didn't understand why it hurt b/c it shouldn't. Once I had them fully convinced that it didn't really hurt, it seemed like it only took a another minute to remove them.

Well I think I'm finally over the funk that has had me this week. A lot of crazy stuff has been happening. Due to some of it, I wasn't able to book our 2010 trip like we had planned, so we have to wait about a month to book it. DH and I are trying to figure out what we are going to do for our 15th wedding anniversary for July 2010. We have thrown around so many ideas that it's not even funny. Everything from Vegas, to DL, WDW, London/Paris, Rome, Canada, a US train trip, Mexico, a Mexican cruise, or an Alaskan cruise. I would love for us to go to WDW for our anniversary, since we met at the MK. However DH is insisting he doesn't want to go without the kids.

I know about not wanting to go without the kids! We can't do it either!! Our 15th was in April...both boys were playing baseball...so we didn't do anything ...a week later my mom came in and babysat so we could at least go out to dinner!

We've been once before without the kids. We went for our 5th wedding anniverary. It wasn't a great trip though. We stayed offsite, there was a problem with our credit card when we tried to rent a car, so we had to use the resort shuttle (which made Disney buses seem like private limos in comparison). We were there over 4th of July weekend. Since the boys were both under 3 we didn't want to have to deal with them in the FL heat. The best part of the trip was playing at the MK in the rain.
The babysitting factor is as big of a concern as the cost. My grandmother has moved in with my parents since they last babysat for us to go on a non kid vacation. Which was for our 10th wedding anniversary to Vegas. I'm not sure how long my mom would be able to watch them. There house is a small 2 bedroom, maybe 1,000 sq ft. Well actually it was a 3 bedroom, until my mom started her ebay business and is using it as her office and there is no bed in the room. My mother in law can't keep the boys, b/c she works in the materials purchasing department in a hospital and our anniversary falls during July inventory time. I know she is going to retire within the next year, but I think our anniversary is before that. Who knows maybe we can wait until after she retires. We are also thinking about going to PA. My DH is a huge Civil War freak and our anniversary (July 1st) was the day the battle of Gettysburg started. We have some friends nearby and they have offered to let us stay with them. So we have added a Gettysburg/Washinton DC trip to the mix. I swear this would be a lot easier to decide if there weren't so many interesting things to see and do in this world. Maybe we should just make it easier on us and just go to WDW for a few days. With out the kids, we could try a couple of the 2 TS places.

Aren't Daddies the best. You can always count on them! I'm 31 and still am his little girl! He's calling Disney to get me some ADR's this Sunday since I'll be out of town and won't have access to internet or long distance.

I don't thik i could ever go to WDW without my kids. I would be thinking the whole time about how much they would have loved this and that...I'd be a mess. You could always call in a Fairy Godmother to stay with the kids and get out alone for an evening!

I can't believe how fast this board moves! I had to search and search for our snowbird's chat!

Sorry so many of us are dealing with sickness. Rylan's been delaing with a cough/stuffy nose for about 3 weeks now. He is feverish today so I kept him home from school. It was off and on and I can't tell if it's just my thermometer or not. My dr isn't really doing the Tamiflu, if it were end up as H1N1. Being 36 weeks, I really don't want to get sick. We're doing all we can to keep healthy these days.

As for me, I'm dealing with some hard core nesting the last couple of days. I'm doing riduculous things like ironing bed linens and taking the bottle of CLR to every mircroscopic speck of calcium build-up on the faucets. Hoping baby holds off until my scheduled delivery date of the 12th. Starting to wonder, though. Having lots and lots of pain/pressure.

Thinking happy Disney thoughts, though. Again thinking of changing up from a January trip to a November trip!

It took him about 5 minutes and I now have a handheld showerhead in our main bathroom. He even managed to find, at Lowes, a "home health care" section, which had accessible items for sale. Including, of course, a handheld showerhead with a super-long hose AND an off/off switch on the head so that if someone puts it down, it won't spin and spray.

It's wonderful!:cloud9: It took some effort, but once I got in to the tub, I was able to take my first independent shower since the morning of October 13th.

And I'm a year older than you and it means a lot to me!! (The table is handy, too... no more trying to balance meals on a tray on one leg!)

They head home tomorrow, though.

Mindy~ I love the nesting!!:goodvibes I was put on bedrest with baby #3 because I wasn't gonna make my scheduled date either and my Dr was out of town on Conference:scared1: She would have been a full 2 weeks early probably....all that to say..you might better stay off your feet a little more!!! I hope your little man feels better ASAP!!! Keep us posted....

Sarah~ I know you are gonna hate to see them go home...I am glad your daddy was able to do some neat stuff for you!!!! Time to get out the needle work and library books, huh?! LOL!!

My little girl woke me up at 1 something this morning sick...'Mommy...I think I needa throw up..." So that goes on off and on till nearly 4....Poor baby...I hate when they throw up...especially her...she is sooo tiny.....also..a bit of chills and fever before bed last night. So..we are in bed watching Peter Pan...she said she wanted to stay in bed all day....fine with me!!!! DS10 is still getting over his sinus inf.....Hopefully if they are gonna be sick, it'll be now and not in December!!!!
