No fondant is easy to work with... as long as you are not a perfectionist!!!!:rotfl: I have not tried doing a whole cake with it though... one reason is I don't like the taste of it... I find it easier to use regular frosting then decorate with the fondant....

So I thought it might be fun to see where everyone has eaten while they are in Disney... as we are thinking about what we want to reserve for our Febuary trip...... in October (when I go with my sister) we are going to a few new places (Yatchmans and Teppan Edo).....
so I started making a list of just the counter service and table service places we have been to.... I think we have hit just about all the snack places...lol... so here is what I have...

We are driving into Syracuse tonight. Madison has an Irish dancing competition there tomorrow. Even though it's only 2 hours away, it's like a mini vacation for us. Our weeks are so crazy with school, grad school for my DH, dance for me, dance and swimming lessons for Madison....it will be nice to spend time with just the 3 of us. Madison is usually done dancing pretty quickly so on the way home, we'll be stopping at an outlet mall that I haven't been to in years! I love retail therapy!

Did anyone see that Toy Story and Toy Story 2 is coming to theaters as a double feature in 3-D! It's only going to be out for 2 weeks!

I hope you guys have fun!! I'm sure she'll dance beautifully. I had totally forgotten about them coming out soon. I don't know if the boys want to see them or not, but we are going.

Oh and I found out last night my dog is a Mickey Mouse fan!! The boys broke their toilet last night, and my DH was trying to fix it. It's nothing big just the chain is broken, but it's a plastic chain. I was in the office working on school work. I went to go check on his progress. Well right in the middle of the hallway floor was a big Mickey Mouse head balloon shaped doggy urine stain on the floor. Since my DH didnt' believe me, and wouldn't walk away from trying to fix the toilet, I took a pic with my iPhone to show him. I won't post it since when you get down to it, it's a picture of dog urine. I've always heard that dogs look like their owner's, and I guess they share our interest as well.

Oh and Wendy your cakes look great. However I would like to give some constructive criticism....The only problem I see with your cakes is the zip code they are being made in. You are too far away from TX to make me one :(

My little sister turned 16 at the beginning of this summer, and I tried my hand at a very special birthday cake for her: I wanted to do a topsy turvy cake! It didn't turn out as well as I wanted it to (the bottom layer pretty much fell over before I got the chance to put the top layer on:lmao:), but she really liked it...

The smaller cake, once I had given up on making it "topsy turvy," was really easy to do with the fondant. The bigger one was a bit more difficult, but it was fun anyways...

Geez I never knew we had so many talented cake decorators in our midst! :worship:

My weekend plans went down the toilet- pun intended for Wookie. ;) Andrew woke up with a fever this morning so we're skipping the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs for now. I still took Em to see the Wild Things at the book store though. I'll post some pics later. It was so cute! And the person that read the story to the kids was a little girl- bless her heart! She did such a good job reading and showing the pictures to the little ones!

He should be the last one to get this virus so I hoping next week is a fever free week :thumbsup2 Gotta go sanitize some toys...again.

That made me giggle. Luckily it was before class actually started. That's right I'm DIS'ing while in class. ;)

I'm sorry your little man is sick. Hopefully he will get better and you can see it soon. I asked m DH if we could see it and he said "no". John had a really good day at school. Something happened that if it had happened last year, he would have beaten the heck out of the kid. On Fridays they have like a show and tell. They call it "Fun Friday". Well back when Stars Wars Epi 1 was coming out, they had these trading cards. I bought a ton of them and didn't open them. When the teacher said that another boy had gotten one of his Star Wars cards and torn it up, but that John just walked away and told them teacher. If that had happened last year, he would have beaten the heck out of him. He has no fear of anyone, no matter there size. In 1st or 2nd grade (can't remember now) he punched a huge 4th grader for not moving out of his way fast enough. Well I was like "what do you mean Star Wars cards? He's not even supposed to touch those let alone have them at school." She looked like she felt bad for me and said, "well where can you buy them so I can tell the parents they have to replace them." "yeah you can't, those were only sold while Epi 1 was in theaters." She just kept saying she was sorry over and over again. I just kept telling her it wasn't her fault, and since John didn't beat the kid I was happy, that was enough for me. Well on the way home, I remembered that some time back John had found the cards and opened them and brought me the stack. I was upset at him for doing it. Since they were opened anyway, I went through and gave him all the duplicate cards. So I am going to send a note to the teacher on Monday telling her so she doesn't feel bad about it.
Last night David took us out to dinner at Carino's an Italian restaurant. I had the same thing I always get, the Bowtie Festival. It is bowtie pasta with grilled chicken, bacon, garlic, red onions, roma tomatoes and asiago cream sauce.

The cake is soooooo cute!!! You are braver than I .... I just decorated in fondant... I couldn't do all the "frosting" ... probably because I don't like the taste.......or at least the is the excuse I leave:rotfl:

We repeat alot, so I really want to branch out to try new ones!
Thanks for the idea to do this Wendy~I've been REALLY crabby and this was a nice little escape...

We're back from a fantasic day of feising (pronounced feshing) and outlet mall shopping. Madison got a 2nd place on her jig!!! She's only gotten a 5th on her jig before, so we were very excited for her. After the feis (fesh), we went to the outlet mall and snagged some great deals for the whole family.

I would post a list of all the places I've eaten, but I don't remember all of them! We went so many times when I was little and I had NO idea where I was eating. Maybe I'll rack my brain and post tomorrow.

I totally forgot Main Street Bakery and the Pinocchio place!!
Kim~ Sorry you have another weekend of sickness!!! Hopefully you will be done after this!!
I worked on my back flower beds---dang near killed my back!!!! I took some pics of the front.. but I was so overheated, they may not even be in focus:lmao: I will try to remember to post one or two tonight!

I don't like the taste of fondant either, but I went with my sister to see the Hannah Montana movie a couple months before her birthday and when she saw Lilly's Birthday cake, she said "Wow, cool" so that was my inspiration.
Covering with fondant really wasn't that hard. I got the Wilton fondant smoother and it actually was pretty easy to spread it out then cut off the excess.
It was funny though, because I felt like I was Fauna the Sleeping Beauty fairy, because that's what the fondant looked like when I was trying to put it on the cake. I had problems icing the cake in the first place...

She ended up being thrilled, because she got 3 cakes. We got her a cookie cake as a back-up, plus she had the two layers of the cake I tried to make for her.
