Good luck with the homework Shelly!! Have a FABULOUS trip!!

Shawna - I say just have the Dr. give the whole family antibiotics now and get it over with!! I'm glad you're feeling better and are getting stuff done.

Dave put up lights on the roof part on Halloween afternoon He got some strange looks hanging a huge wreath on the garage, but it hooks into the roof lights! We still have more to put on the tree and trim, but not having to climb on the roof when it's 30 degrees, icy and/or windy is a good thing!
We won't turn them on until after Thanksgiving though. That's my rule. I think poor Thanksgiving gets the short end of the stick between Halloween and Christmas, so I want it to have its own special day.

I know!! I think the same thing(about Thanksgiving)...we always want to turn ours on right after Tday too..but Mikes thing is "It is my day off...I am NOT hanging lights today!!"...so we plan for that weekend, but more often than not, it's raining! And our roof is STEEP! So..we started doing it the weekend before Tday..just so it's done..but we wont be here. so it's gotta be this weekend...I can rest better knowing that it's all taken care of so I don't have to do it when I get back! Sounds a little compulsive, huh?! And along those lines.....
I have to plan for Thanksgiving this week too!!!! I don't know what my mom/family is doing...that's just a crazy mess...the step kids do NOT like my mom...bunch of trouble there..they were grown when she got married to their Dad,but they act like they are about 8!!:sad2: I know we all have family troubles, but I have washed my hands of that whole situation-nothing ever changes...the last few years, she comes here for Tday and he spends the weekend with his kids...but, I don't know what she has planned this year. And she lives 3 hours north of me, so I do NOT plan to come home from Disney on Sun night and drive to her house on Th morning! If she can't come here (and it's her bday weekend) we just wont do Tday together this year...
so...if I am having it here, I have to buy my turkey and all the stuff this week...ANOTHER LIST!!! But, I am soooo tempted to buy a dinner pre-cooked form our local meat market...NO work for me!!! I think it's a bit pricey, but the time is worth it!! Around $80...turkey, gravy, dressing,a pie, and one or two other sides.....Have to see what the family wants.
The turkey I do is easy...HEB precooked!!! I just pop it in for like 3 hours...mom always makes my Granny's dressing...kids and Mike want green bean casserole and mac & cheese.. and a salad and dessert. so...we'll see how I feel next week! It's gonna be a limited menu this time for sure!!!! What are ya'll doing?

I can't believe Thanksgiving is sneaking up on us! We usually exhaust ourselves by going to 3 families (my parents are divorced). And I'll make mashed pototoes for two sets (that's alot of darn taters!), sweet potato casserole to the third. So we'll get to Andy's sisters at 1 (and she has the BEST food)! Probably head to my moms about 3, then my dad's side at 5. We end up hanging out there until about 10 or so becuase I see them the least thru the year, and they're actually the most fun. We'll dig thru the ads, they make fun of my early morning shopping, usually with "It's a Wonderful Life" on in the background...:rotfl2:

Morning Birdies! This weekend is quiet around here. Just me, grandma and the dog. My parents went to MI for a funeral, so we are just hanging out.

Found out yesterday that Grandma will be heading down to KY to spend Dec/Christmas with my Aunt and her family as we are heading to CO for our first Christmas with my dad's family :goodvibes. She is heading down there on Nov. 20, so it will just be Mom,Dad and me for Thanksgiving. My mother asked if she had to make the full meal for just us 3....I said frozen pizza sounds good to me:rotfl:!

Happy Belated Birthday Becca!!!!

Everyone have an amazing time on your trips! Hug the Big Guy for me!

Shelly~ love the pizza for Tday idea!!
Well, we didn't hang lights:sad2: DH said he just really wanted to wait till we got home:scared1: Does he NOT know by now that he cannot unplan me like that? geez.....
anyway,,he and ds14 had play practice at church, me and the little two finally got out of the house for a bit..we hung out at the bookstore..got her an activity book for the plane..got them each a new book. She made a milestone:bought her first book of a series and came home and read it all by herself!!! I am so happy for her!! I didn't even know about this little series--Ivy & Bean..it's looking cute so far...she wants the whole set,so guess what just got added to her Christmas list? BUT, Lanie ,our newest addition to her AG collection came in yesterday:yay: She is sooo pretty!! I can't wait for her to get her Christmas day!! I do have a few little stocking stuffers and odds and ends to get them, but their big stuff is done. I really wanted it all completed before we left--I am usually done by Halloween--but with us being so sick, it just didn't happen. Oh well,...I still have this week, but I am not planning on anything but Disney packing, finishing school, and cleaning out the fridge!!LOL...
Noticed the engine light on in my suburban last night:mad: What the heck? I do NOT have time for this right now!!! Oh well...maybe dh will be able to figure it out...if not, I will have to bum rides with him this week!! WOW! This is nuts! Plus, we have to take the sub to the airport! All our luggage will not fit in the truck!!!
Hope you all remembered to set your clocks back!! I woke up waaayy earlier than I wanted to-was lookin' forward to a late sleep this a.m.!!! Well...give me a jump start on all I need to do!!! Happy Sunday!!

I deliberately didn't set my clock back...lol... made me feel like I was sleeping in. It is just me at home this morning, so I am enjoying my tea and dising.
Then it is off to scour and clean the house, I am also trip obsessed and already planning what to pack :rotfl:.

I also have to admit my Christmas shopping is almost done, only 2 more people to shop for! I actually worked with a budget this year, BOY does that help ! :thumbsup2 I am so use to just giving "within reason" without budget planning. It's hard to stick with the budget, and DD is still getting spoiled!

Hope everyone else is having a great weekend !
Healthy wishes to all the sickies :wizard:

I haven't even started my Chanukah shopping yet, and it starts on Dec. 1! So we need to take all the gifts with us for Thanksgiving!:faint: I think I'll only do one for DD, and then give her the rest when she gets home from school (and I get home from Disney). But it's still a lot to do!

At least I can add Chanukah smilies to my signature!

I have not even started my Christmas shopping yet. I just don't have a lot of places to put things. I always go shopping on Black Friday with my mom and I get about 90% of my shopping done on that day. It's one of my favorite days of the year!

Hey my birdie friends.... sorry I have been so AWOL lately! I am doing childcare EVERY DAY Monday-Friday and then Ken's parents were just here for a week from Manitoba! It was so nice to visit with them. We are almost ready to book our 2011 trip but I have to get answers for a couple of my questions first.

Here is one for y'all.......I asked over on the resorts board but so far nobody has answered!

With a package, when do all the little "extras" (ie - mini golf, boat rental, arcade card etc) expire?? Is it at the end of your package stay or is it 14 days after your arrival??? :confused3

I appreciate the help - Thanks! I promise to try and get all caught up on the happenings around here as soon as I can! :)

Hi KIM!!! We can appreciate how busy life can get! Glad you popped back in!

I can answer your question! I just looked at our booklet. The vouchers were valid for the length of stay.

Next question please.

Rats :sad2: I was hoping they would be good for 14 days - was hoping we would able to use the Kids Club discount when we checked into the Poly! Darn!

I'm thinking I need to hear more about your plans. I seem to have forgotten what you were planning.
You never know, if you have a split stay, they may honor it. I just looked at our packet and the vouchers that we did not use and they just had the dates of our stay on them. Perhaps if you link the ressies, they would not expire?

right now the current plan (version 17 ;) ) is to do Free Dining @ POFQ August 24th - 27th and then switch to the Poly from the 27th - Sept 3rd with a Room Only ressie (hoping for a REALLY AMAZING PIN - 40%!!!)

I had originally thought it would be fun to try another Value (Asmo??) for a few nights but no one else in my family thought that was a good idea!! :lmao: Such resort snobs they are!! :rotfl:

Not sure if Free Dining is the best way to go but I really want to say that I've done "Free Dining" and we REALLY want to go back to POFQ for a couple days and just relax!!! We were so crazy rushing around busy in January that we really didn't get to relax and enjoy the resort! Plus, they are refurbing the WHOLE resort right now and putting in all new everything AND Queen sized beds!!! :cool1:

If we are going to do FREE DINING, I have to book it by Dec 20th, so I need to make up my mind soon! :rolleyes1

Hey Kim! All I can tell you is juggle that math and see what codes/discounts would work the best....for us, the 40% off the room is better than the FD...usually about 140-200 dollars diff... and if you book and really want to change later, you can always see what's available...and yeah..you def need to plan a slow day so y'all can just relax!! Ours is usually the thur or Fri of the trip..sleep in, pool time, I go get the laundry done, then go to WS and eat, or see something like HDDR....just a hang around type day. If we don't schedule one in, I am exhausted when we leave!!! And we get a lot done those first few days anyway..so a rest closeto the end is always much appreciated!!

Shawna, interesting that the 40% worked better for you. I suppose it depends where you stay and the meal plan you are interested in (if at all).
This trip for the first time the FD worked better for us. We're staying moderate ( and chose not to do DlxD this trip). The % off was not much of a savings for us, most likely because DD is now a disney adult for the meal plan and not considered in the price of the room? We also have an additional adult my mom which adds an extra cost to the room.

In any event , you do need to do the math and decide what is best for you.

We too booked a free day near the end of our trip, we do have DD booked at the BBB for 1:00pm and dinner in Norway, we plan on relaxing in the morning.
I am finding most of my dining is taking me back to Epcot because of all the great food!

Dd wants to go to the water parks, which are usually closed, so I told her with the pool at CBR she doesn't need a waterpark .

I hope we have good weather this trip, last January was fantastic weather!

Hope all the sickie snowbirds are feeling better!

Joanne

Hi Everyone :wave2: Thought I'd pop in a say Hi! :flower3: We made it to Disneyland :rotfl2: we were able to get rush passports for my twins and then we flew out Monday evening. It was a short trip and although I really love Disneyland and all the memories I had there as a kid I most likely won't go back. I found California VERY dirty and the people VERY rude. However Space mountain is SOOOO much better at Disneyland it's crazy! Also they do the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay on The Haunted Manison...do they do that at WDW :confused3 Anyways that was awsome :)

I absolutly love Halloween time at Disney so that was great! And we did the Mickey's Halloween Party - totally worth it :goodvibes

I wish the weather would have been better....it rained everyday  but I'm Canadian so it was still warm to us and it made for very short lines :)

I will try and post some pictures in a few days....I take possesion of my new house tomorrow so things have been crazy ;) If anybody has any questions about Disneyland...ask anyway I'm more than happy to answer :)

My sister, Mom and I have a very similar tradition as you- at the end of Turkey Day we sit with our dessert and dig through all the ads planning our moves for the early hours of Black Friday. I have to get what I need early and be home in time for DH to leave for work at 7am. That's the downside of being a daycare person. I never have anyone to watch my kids!

Good to see that little guy flipping latkes again! What day is the first day this year?

Sounds like you could use a good naptime little missy! I'm currently keeping watch over 5 napping children and days when they all nap are heavenly! At least you're going to have some extra Disney money for your trip!

Glad everything worked out for you! I've been wondering how it went. I tried looking for you on FB but you seem to have gone missing. :confused3 I'd love to see pics when you get a free moment! Someday I'd like to see DL just because it's the original of Walt's big plans but I don't think it will ever be able to replace WDW for me.

Kim - that sounds great! I know the 40% off was a better deal if you were staying deluxe over the free dining. But for Mods and Values, usually free dining is better. Will Em be an "adult" for Disney?

Mel - Hey there! Glad your trip worked out. Did you hear the DIS Unplugged podcast a couple weeks ago? Teresa was at DL for the Halloween festivities too. She said there were a lot of things they do better than WDW.

Hey Mel! Welcome back!! Glad you had fun!

It's a PERFECT day here....especially for this time of year! 62 and sunny!!!!!!!!!!!!! Loving it! Even got the windows open right now. Ok...even inside stuff...out to enjoy my Vitamin D!

I have been meaning to stop in but as soon as we got home we've been in moving mode. I am missing from FB :) I was having issues with privacy and decided to stop for awhile.

DL is completly worth it to see. AND you can feel Walt there. I'm not sure if my not so great feelings about it is becuse of the surroundings....to be fair I NEVER left Disney property when I was at WDW so everything was always perfect....and at DL you are not on property like WDW so the outside word creeps in. So that could have something to do with it :confused3

I didn't hear the podcast :confused3 I do agree that I found many things at Disneyland that was much better like, SM, POC & HM. Sometimes you just can't compete with the original ;) I also loved how you could walk between the two parks...no buses needed :)

Hey Mel! Welcome back!! Glad you had fun
