~Snowbird Chat 2~

Thanks for the congratulations everyone!!!! He truly deserves this job. He has worked tirelessly for over 15 years in a place with no future of moving up but has stayed because it pays the bills for our family. I'm so proud of him! (PS- If we're friends on FB keep it quiet for a while. If word gets to his current work before he needs it to, it wouldn't be good ;) ) And I'm so happy that even Disco Dale couldn't bring me down! :rotfl:

Meghan- Enjoy NYC and spending time with your sister! TR when you get back! :thumbsup2

Kim- Sounds like Emily's birthday was fantastic! No suggestions for your plans except that I agree with the Pizza Planet boycott. There's just not that many CS places to choose from at DHS. Don't blow away in those winds!

Jen- Disney at Christmas! Woo Hoo! :woohoo:

Red- What do you mean by "Nothing much here today." 30% off at Kohls sounds like PLENTY to do today! :rotfl:

Kim - I forget are you doing DDP? Lunch at DHS is rather limited. I have seen pretty good sandwiches at Starring Rolls. Do you want to stick to CS? That place over by the B&tB/Fantasmic is okay for burgers/chicken strips. I want to say Fairfax, but I'm not sure that's the name. Someone else has mentioned Writer's stop but I don't recall the menu. Or if you want to go TS, you could splurge and go to Hollywood Brown Derby! I'd maybe pay OOP since it's 2 TS credits if you're DDP.
But if you're leaving anyway, why not eat somewhere else? You could eat at Kona or the CS at the Poly, or something like that.

Otherwise, I like that day! I like 8/26 better, just cuz it's my b-day! ;) Wish I could go with you!

That's right, Sheree! You and my Rylan share a birthday :)

Beautiful day her in south central Pennsylvania! 70 degrees. Makes me long for summer. Won't be long now!

No we are not doing a DP this time around! I think if we stay at DHS for lunch we will try something else OR go back to Poly and do a lunch @ Captain Cooks. Don't want to do a TS cause we are saving ourselves for the Feast at the Clam Bake later that night! :lmao: That's right, I forgot that your bday was right before Nats! I will have to try to remember to text you from WDW on that day! Maybe from Epcot or the BC - 2 of your fave places, right? :)

Thanks to Kohls, I know have a new pair of jeans, capris, and a pair of shorts!! Oh did I forget to mention that all of these are in a size smaller than I was 1 month ago!!!!!!!!!!!! I just had a brag for a minute. It's hard in the winter (especially around the holidays) to keep up with the workout routines and I usually don't ever feel like anything is changing....but now I actually have proof!

YAY!!! :woohoo: Way to go RED!!!
I've been half-heartedly trying to lose that last 5 pounds toward my goal since Christmas. Up and down, up and down. I really hate to exercise in the traditional sense, so if the weather isn't good for outdoor walking, I don't do much.

Kim - I think you should check out the menus and reviews of the other CS places in DHS, and if nothing looks good, get out of there and eat at Poly.
I would love to hear from you in WDW on my birthday!!! That would be a great gift! I do heart Epcot and BC!!!

Mindy - I will easily remember Rylan's birthday!! It's a good one! HA!
Our warm weather is gone. :( We hit 50 for two days and then it's back in the 20s and WINDY!!!! Winter is far from over.

Taking the girls tomorrow (plus a friend of Sarah's who's staying here tonight) to see Alpha and Omega. They have a $2 Saturday morning show!! Then we are going to see some neighbor kids in a middle school production of Suessical the Musical in the afternoon.
Sunday night Sarah is going to a softball clinic. It runs three Sundays from 5 - 7. Isn't that a horrible time??? Oh well, it will be good for her.

Monday we have the holiday off so I'm planning to stay close to home and get some planning done, work on my "to do" list, and hope it doesn't snow too much!!

Hope you all have a good weekend!!

Our warm weather is gone, too :( It went up to 70 two days last week. Yesterday and today it's cold again. Super windy, too.

Congrats "Red" that is awesome news and so inspiring!!! I am down to my lowest again and that always feels amazing!!! Keep up the great work!!!

Heading to the church this morning and then grading this afternoon (fun life I live I know LOL) then back to the church plant to make some phone calls LOL!!! I hope to update on my trip and start making plans for the spring!!!

BTW looking for some easy recipes for dinners that are on the healthier side, if any of you have any to share...please please PM me!! THANKS!!

Now if only my college senior D can land one!

An update -

She got her internship!!!

It was a competitive one, and it's only for the summer, but it's in her field and it's a foot in the door. With any luck, she'll impress people who can give her an actual job!

party:

We're just so excited for her!

We now return you to your regularly scheduled chat . . .

WOOT WOOT!! Congratulations to your daughter!! That is fantastic!!!!

Awesome news Snykymom!!! :thumbsup2 Congratulations to your Daughter! It definitely IS a foot in the door!! Hopefully she will do well and make a great impression!!! :)

Here are some more plans - I am making my ADRs THIS FRIDAY @ 6am so I need all the input you can handle!!!

Day 5 - Sunday Aug 28

9am RD @ MK - head straight for Frontierland!! This is the day my little fraidy cat has promised to ride Splash!!! We'll see what actually happens!

Grab some breakfast @ Main St Bakery after Splash! No specific plans just ride what we can when we want to!!!

Swimming @ Poly for the afternoon

Head out ~ 4ish - catch Monorail to MK, then bus to BC eat @ Beaches and Cream then head to DHS to see FANTASMIC @ 830pm!!

QUESTIONS - What will B&C look like if we were to arrive around 5? Super busy? Should we go earlier? Currently there is only 1 F! show scheduled for that night. How soon should we plan to line up to get halfway decent seats?

We are not planning to do anything else but F! that night, except wander around and scope out Hidden Mickeys and stalking the Streetmosphere Characters!!!

About how long is the Fantasmic show?

Day 6 - Monday August 29th - My baby's 8th birthday!!!

SLEEP IN!!!!! (probably won't be super late as we really do not sleep in very well! I think the latest my kids have ever slept is till 9! And that was after we let them stay up on NYE!!! )

Miss Natalie has requested breakfast with Miss Minnie Mouse on this day so we will be headed to Chef Mickey's for a late breakfast @ 1030am.

Not sure of afternoon plans yet, maybe head back and spend the afternoon at the pool or if there is inclement weather we may head to DTD for the afternoon! Depending on how late we slept in, perhaps there might be a nap in there somewhere!

Will probably eat supper @ Captain Cooks!

For our evening plans we will partaking of the Pirate and Pals Fireworks Voyage!!!!! Both my little girls much prefer Pirates to Princesses and they both adore Wishes so this is right up their alley!!

So what do you think?????

Red- Congrats to your daughter!!!! That's awesome!!

Kim - your plans look so great - nice and relaxed and I'm sure the girls will love the Pirates voyage!
I would suggest getting to B&C before 5, maybe closer to 4 or 4:30. Beat the dinner rush. You'll want to line up for F! at least an hour before the show.

So, we're having a BLIZZARD here. Yup, we're looking at 15" and windy. We were crazy and went to the Mall of America this afternoon in the middle of it. Ironically, we were far from the only crazy people there! I even bumped into one of my co-workers!
We went to the Disney store, and managed to buy park tickets without the girls knowing!! We browsed around and then the girls and I left to go next door to Justice while Dave bought the tickets!
We're off tomorrow for President's day and the kids are too. Apparently, not all schools are scheduled off, because they are running the school closings on t.v.! Who knew?:confused3

Thanks Sheree and YAY for tickets!!!!! :cool1: I kinda thought that about Beaches and cream....might have to make an adjustment there! :)

Kim -- I think it was around 5:00 or so when we went to B&C on a Saturday night. I don't think it was any earlier than that. . . Do you remember Shawna??? We had about a 15 minute wait.

Congrats on the tickets Sheree! :cool1:

We are off today. We were supposed to be off Friday and today, but we had to make up that one snow day we had, so we had school on Friday. When it was 65 degrees! :upsidedow And we are off today when it is 32 and snowy. :headache:

Good to know Shelly! Thanks! :goodvibes

We will have lots of time, so I figure if we show up for around 5 and have to wait even a half an hour we will still have lots of time to make it to DHS before we NEED to be line for Fantasmic! I really want to eat at B & C and this is really the only day it will fit comfortably in our plans! popcorn::

Hello everyone. Well, it was not the weekend I had in mind. Let's start at the beginning:

Friday

My mom picked us up around 3pm and we hit the road. We stopped in Syracuse to pick up her best friend (and to use the bathroom) and we were quickly on the road again. We arrived in Albany sometime between 7 and 8pm. After checking into the hotel and dropping our stuff, we went to go eat dinner. We chose Applebee's where I had a bacon cheeseburger with fries. We also split an appetizer...the new twisted potato chip things with spicy queso. Once back at the hotel, I gave Madison a quick shower and we all fell asleep by 11pm.

Saturday

I woke up around 4:30am feeling like I was going to throw up. My mom woke up and asked if I was ok. I told her I was going to go get a Sierra Mist from the vending machine. Once back in the room, things got really bad. I ended up getting sick about 4 times between 5 and 7am. I was a wreck and didn't know what to do. We had to get on a train to NYC at 8am. My mom said I could have stayed in the hotel and we could have either one of my aunt's (who live in Syracuse) come pick me up or have my little sister's boyfriend (who lives in Albany) come check in on me throughout the day. I said no...I wanted to go with them.

Once we pulled into the parking garage at the train station, I got sick. Not fun. We got all settled on the train and we made sure we were only a few rows from the bathroom. I was going to need it. Over the course of the 2 1/2 hour train ride, I got sick twice more. Thank goodness those train bathrooms are MUCH bigger than airplane bathrooms...I've been sick on a plane before and it's just awful. We got into NYC a little after 10:30am and we had to wait at Penn Station for my little sister to come get us. We had no idea how to get to our hotel in Jersey City.

She arrived around 11am (the trains were running slow) and we made our way to the PATH train station....a long NYC block away from Penn Station. The trains run a little differently on the weekends so it took a bit longer to get to our stop. Thankfully, our hotel was right next to the PATH train station. My mom bought me a Sierra Mist at the front desk and we made our way to our room. It was close to noon by this time and I still wasn't well. I knew I had to stay in the room and miss out on seeing the city. All I wanted at that point was for Madison to enjoy herself and for me to feel better. As soon as they left, I broke into tears. I was so sad! Anyways....I ended up getting sick one last time around 2pm and then fell asleep for 2 hours.

Once I woke up after 4pm, I felt so much better. I got up and called both Tony and my mom to let them know I was better. I ended up just walking back and forth across the room because I was so sick of laying in bed. I just lounged around for awhile and watched tv. Everyone came back to the room sometime between 6:30 and 7pm. They brought me a little sleeve of saltine crackers because I was pretty hungry. We convinced my little sis to stay overnight with us instead of heading back to her apartment (we had 2 queen beds and a pullout couch). My mom and her friend went downstairs to grab a few drinks...Pepsi for my mom and wine for her friend and my little sis. We sat around and talked about the day and ate our little snacks. They told me that the wind had been bitter cold and their feet were so tired. They said even if I felt good, I wouldn't have made it around the city that day. Every subway they took was super crowded and they had to stand...not good for someone who is 6 months pregnant.

While we chatted Madison watched "Bedtime Stories" on tv. Once it was over (around 10pm), we all went to bed. It had been a very long and exhausting day for all of us. I knew that Madison had a great day....she went to American Girl Place, saw Rockefeller Center, went to the Lego store and Toys R Us, saw Times Square, had NY style pizza and saw the Empire State building (from far away). I told Madison I'd buy her something from American Girl, but my mom had to pay for it for me. She picked out the bowling outfit and a pair of sunglasses for her doll. My mom also let her pick out something and she picked a really neat activity book and a cat for her doll named Praline.

Sunday

My mom and I woke up a little before 6am. I had slept so much the day before that I just couldn't sleep any longer. We both got up and started getting ready. I munched on some crackers and had a little bit of Sierra Mist. We were all pretty much ready to go and packed up around 7am. We headed back to the PATH train station and we had to wait a little while for our train. At this point, I was starting to feel very light headed. My little sis was sitting next to me on a bench and called my mom over. I felt like I was going to pass out and I just wanted to lie down. Thankfully, a train pulled up (not ours) and she was able to sit on my other side. I didn't know what to do and I nearly blacked out. I knew I needed water and my mom's friend gave me hers (the 2nd day in a row I ended up taking her water). My mom then remembered I had a vitamin water in my bag.....I was dehydrated. I needed fluids and electrolytes. After a few sips of vitamin water, I felt a whole lot better. However, this whole episode greatly upset Madison. We had to tell her it was because I hadn't eaten hardly anything the day before.

After I was feeling better, a train came a few minutes later. We only had to go one stop because we were going to breakfast a few blocks from my sister's apartment. It was called the Brownstone Diner and Pancake Factory. Yum! It was quite a walk...especially because it was freezing outside! It felt so good to sit in the nice warm diner and the breakfast rush hadn't begun yet. I had a belgiun waffle with strawberry compote and it was really good. I couldn't finish it though because the compote was just a little too sweet. I then ordered a side of wheat toast because I was still hungry. Once we had finished eating (and relaxing for awhile) we bundled back up and went to see my sister's apartment. We only stayed for a little bit and then headed back to the PATH train. Before going down into the station, we stopped at a drug store for me to get another vitamin water.

The train ride back to Penn Station was uneventful, but it felt like it took forever (those weekend schedules). Once off the train, we walked the one block to Penn Station...it's underneath Madison Square Garden! There was a Rangers/Flyers game that day, so we saw lots of jerseys. I think we arrived at Penn Station around 11:20am for our 11:45am train. They don't post what track you're on until 15 minutes before departure time. Once it was displayed, we got in line at our track and said goodbye to my little sis. Once again, we sat a few rows from the bathroom, but that's because I had been doing nothing but drinking liquids all morning (I had a full glass of water and a small apple juice at the diner).

The ride back to Albany was quite nice, but the train was super hot. I watched out the window for awhile and the train goes right along the Hudson River. It was a very sunny day and the sights were just gorgeous. I also slept for a bit until Maddie woke me up to go to the bathroom. We arrived back in Albany around 2:15pm, used the restroom and found our car. We stopped briefly on the Thruway for a bathroom break and to get a snack. The only food place open though was Dunkin Donuts and no one wanted anything from there. We ended up getting chips from the vending machine. We dropped my mom's friend off in Syracuse around 5pm and then went over to my aunt and uncle's house. We had to drop off their birthday gifts and they had dinner for us! Pulled chicken (instead of pulled pork) and chocolate cake. Delicious.

We got back on the road a bit before 7pm and I think we stopped once on the Thruway to use the bathroom and my mom just wanted to rest for a few minutes. We hit a bit of snow right before our exit and then the highway on the way to my house was VERY snowy. We got home around 9:45pm or so. We unpacked and lounged for a bit. Maddie got to bed around 11pm and I watched The Amazing Race before falling asleep.

So there you have it. My very crazy weekend!!! It didn't end today. Tony and my mom (with some help from Madison) started painting the nursery. They got the ceiling painted and the walls got a coat of primer.

Oh Megahn! What a wild weekend! So sorry you got sick! Do you think it was a flu bug or food poisoning? Sounds nasty whatever it was! Glad you are feeling better now though! Take it easy this week! :goodvibes

I'm leaning towards flu bug. My mom had a few bites of my cheeseburger, and she didn't get sick. It was such a miserable day and I'm glad that it's behind me now. I have felt like myself the past two days which is great. Back to eating and drinking normally!

yeah...sounds about right! It's usually after that when it really gets to be a wait....but in August, I am sure it's gonna be a wait no matter what time you go due to all the swimmers!! Just go around and hour before you really think you wnt to be there and get on the list with a pager....maybe hang around and put your feet in the water, or just look around the area...it's really pretty and the BC has a neat solarium you can hang out in. It's got a TV with couches and chairs...it's down from the marketplace thing....really nice!!!
My Saylor did have the flu last week:sick::sick::sick: really bad for him...he went to bed Sunday after church and slept pretty much straight thru until Tuesday...gettin up for meds, water and the bthrm...he never threw up or anything...hallelujah!!!!! But he still had fever and slept til Sat morning.. And thurs. Mike woke up with a really bad sinus thing...he never gets sick, so it hit him pretty hard...he still feels terrible. And he got a steroid shot!!! Now his head feels all swimmy and weird. I told him that was an advantage I had from getting it off and on during the seasons...most of the time I can still function feeling that way...he just gets totally sideswiped with it!!!
We had to cancel Say's Dental appt last tuesday...he was disappointed because he would probably get on the schedule to start his braces! he has really became very, very self-conscience about his teeth.:sad1: Poor thing! So..they called Friday with a cancellation for this monday, could we make it..I said, barring an admittance to the ER with this flu, we would be there. So..he got better over the weekend and we went in yesterday morning at 10:30....and he said he was ready to start his line-up for braces!:yay: He goes back in 2 weeks for the Xrays and Impressions....then , they had a 1:30 cancellation so I could get Kipps teeth cleaned. So, we got both of them taken care of in one day!!!!
Mike had called and said he was still feeling really bad and went back to the house for a long nap...he still feels off today.But...we are trying to get Saylor back on schedule--he missed an entire week!! so, I have had to adjust his whole schedule and just phased in for several days....oh well...it'll all work out by the end of April!!!
Meghan...sorry you had such a rotten experience!!! I know it's worse when you are pregnant...you just get soooo tired!!!
Well..me and the kids have the disney bug--don't know if I can hold out till November!!! LOL!!

Meghan...sorry you had such a rotten experience!!! I know it's worse when you are pregnant...you just get soooo tired!!!

It was definately a very rough day. I was so violently sick that I still have broken blood vessels under my eyes and IN my eyes! So yucky!
