~Snowbird Chat 2~

We have stayed at both and I would definitely pick POR of the two of them! We didn't care for Pepper Market at all.

I can't believe your DH booked all by himself! :cool1: Did he pick the resort by himself or had you talked about it previously?

Yes he picked the resort all by himself. :thumbsup2
I really want to go back to CBR :lovestruc

Joanne - THAT IS AWESOME!!!!! 2 trips in one year!!! How exciting!!! :cool1: And you will get to see all the Christmas stuff too! :thumbsup2

I guess that means it my 10th anniversary as a mommy! ;) Time to change my sigggie!! :upsidedow

We made the decision if and when we did another WDW trip it would be during a holiday time - Halloween or Christmas, which means if we don't go back this year we have to go back in 2012... and he didn;t want to wait that long. However keep in mind the last trip we booked in October was cancelled... but it's nice to have a ticker and a plan in place.
Happy 10th Mommy Anniversary! and Happy Birthday to your DD.

YAY!!!!! What a great hubby you have! (Although the control-freak in me is not sure how I'd handle that)! :rotfl:
Is POR smaller than POFQ? I always get confused. And which one can sleep 5? (I'm thinking POR is 5 and bigger)? My MIL wants to go with us next time and I'm thinking that will be our cheapest option. then again, my younger sister wants to go, too, so I'm thinking if that happens, we'll stick with Pop and she and MIL can room together. :confused3

POR is the larger. This will be the first trip just the 3 of us! Mom has always joined us, and then DD and I went just the girls!

Joanne- YAY for another trip!!! POR is awesome and kudos to your DH for doing it and getting a deal! :cool1:

Tomorrow will be 3 weeks until our cruise!!! :yay: and :scared1: I do not feel organized AT ALL!!! I think I need to make lists of the list I need! This weekend better not be busy. There's enough on the calendar, thank goodness I get Monday the holiday off!! Of course, so do DH and the kids. We'll see how much I can get accomplished.
Thanks ! I am glad POR gets such good reviews with the Birds!

I understand your panic, I was there in January! Try to relax have a cup of tea and make lists! :thumbsup2

Joanne..congrats on the hubby taking charge
Well...my Saylor is sick....I am convinced he has the FLU!!!!! He came home from church Sunday and went to bed and hasn't hardly gotten up at all....Mon and Tues he slept almost all day. Fever, aches, all the typical junk...I think Mike is coming down with something now! And he is NEVER sick.Valentines day was great-I got a dozen of the most beautiful pink roses!!! If I get time I will post a picture.. been organizing some closet/toy areas in the kids room again. Mercy!! It does get junky in a hurry!!
Plan to do Disney in Nov again, but I am itchin' for a short spring trip...your TRs and PTRs are prompting me! LOL...I think I will call and see if I have any PINs attached to my name- I haven't gotten anything in the mail from them in quite some time.Well...it's off to try and get this train a'rollin'!!!!

Thanks, I reaally wanted a short spring trip for my Bday in March, but it is too soon since January :confused3 and DH and I did make the deal that we will be going during a holiday season! Fingers crossed nothing happens to cause us to cancel

I am on a business trip in the UK this week, so I have been fully entrenched in work and stress! I took a break and dissed, looking up discount codes etc. We did get a room discount pin, but we wanted FD. DH and I chatted today about "life" and then he texts me and lets me know he booked a Disney Trip! Yes my DH booked the trip! What did he pick....

POR
November 13th - 19th
Park Hopper with Water Parks and More
DDP

He used our pin and the CM (he said) was very helpful to be sure we got the best deal available!

I am so excited!
I have learnt things can happen and this trip may not come to be... we had to cancel our October 2010 trip, but then ended up going in January 2011.

I think it's the booked trip and ticker that keep us going... so I am no longer tickerless!

I am also excited to see if we like POR... hesitant, but it's always nice to try something new.
Good for your hubby! We'll be overlapping at sister resort POFQ (Nov. 15-23) - maybe we'll meet!

POFQ is the small one, and POR can sleep 5 in the Alligator Bayou section.

:yay::yay:Jason got the job!!!!!! :yay::yay:

If it weren't naptime at my house you'd probably hear me screaming with joy wherever all of you are!!!!! :rotfl: I'm doing my best to contain myself! I'm convinced he got the job because of all your prayers. :thumbsup2 He won't start for another 2-4 weeks because he has to go through the background check and get security clearance since it's on the military base. I'm so thankful and I hope this is a good move for him. He's the last man in so if the government does any cut backs he'll be the first man out. He's willing to take that risk though! Anything is better than where he is now and let's face it, job security is wishy washy everywhere these days. He'll have such great benefits- health, retirement pension, 401 K, off every other Friday...I need me a government job. ;)

Joanne- Your husband is alright in my book- congrats on the trip! :thumbsup2

Kim- Happy birthday to your wonderful Emily!!!! She's double digits now!

Best of luck to Jason (and you)! As Tom Petty says, "The waaiiiiitttingggg is the hardest part." :rotfl2:
I am one of those dorks that finally moved up in the world of technology and got an Ipod for Christmas. Tom Petty was one of the first artists I downloaded.

Mindy- Hope you find some time this weekend to get yourself organized for your trip!!!!

Kim...Praying Jason gets the job, with more $$ than was talked about, and they call him today!!!
Joanne..congrats on the hubby taking charge
Jen,sorry your airfare was hiked
Kim..loving your plans-def do the earlier show-even if the shows are good, you still get tired just sitting there!

2 out of 3 isn't bad- he did get the job and they did call him today! Still the same pay they discussed but hey, we can't have everything now can we?
Hope Saylor is feeling better soon and Mike isn't starting. Sending healthy vibes your way! :goodvibes
Happy Birthday and Congrats!!

So my friend and I booked our airfare for March 15-22. Grand total of 634 and some odd cents:eek: I'm a little ticked because while I was doing the booking process they bumped up the price $30 per ticket.....I tried calling to explain what was going on and was so very nicely informed that there is nothing they can do about it. So I had to fork out an extra $60, plus we have baggage fees to pay for....GRRRR.

I'm still going to FL right....that's what counts! We got some of our spring training tickets too. I'll be booking the rental car today (with my discounts!) and then we just need hotels!

25 days.....25 days...25 days
What a rip off. At least you'll be getting a discount on the rental car. :thumbsup2

Whoops - and I still owe my review, don't I? What do you want to know?

I was going to complain about boarding, but I just found out today that the computer system crashed. That changes things, doesn't it?!

-It was a great trip.
-The weather was great.
-The ship was beautiful.
-Our waitstaff was excellent. We never really waited in any lines. Our dinner was not at all slow. Artist's Palette was really a lot of fun.
-THE FOOD WAS AWESOME!
-At the same time, Cabanas (buffet) ran really limited hours. After that, your options were (limited) room service or pre-made sandwiches, fries, hamburgers, and hotdogs. While Royal Caribbean's food wasn't as tasty, it was available at more useful times.
-Loved the soda stations! We packed our own cups to grab soda... but mostly used them for water
-AquaDuck started out exciting but then slowed down right away
-My friend's 10yr old son wasn't thrilled with the Oceaneer's Club. His parents thought it was just him, until they overheard a 9 year old with the same complaint. It is apparently too young for that age group.
-HOWEVER! Oceaneer's LAB got top marks all around!
-I was surprised that, on the sea day, there wasn't something to do at all times. The FunnelVision screen would be empty and there would be no entertainment. There wasn't a lot to do for adults.
-The movies were ONLY shown in 3D. I have a hard time with 3D, so I skipped them. Too bad; I really wanted to see Tangled.
-The price of drinks wasn't terrible but the beer selection is EXTREMELY limited.
-You ARE allowed to carry on your own beverages. Carry. On. This can be wine (though, remember a bottle opener!) or beer. If you want to bring a glass of wine to dinner, ask your room host for the glasses. If you bring the bottle, they'll charge you a fee.
-We had fun with the detective club.
-We had fun with the animated art on the walls (hint: picture frames are a specific color)
-The room, frankly, felt more spacious than our Pop Century room. This might be because we had a verendah/giant window.
-There is very LITTLE storage - less than Carnival or RCI, which is goofy for a FAMILY cruiseline. Two small closets, one of which is taken up partially with the safe.
-Loved the bed. Queen size bed, not two twins squashed together. The bed is also higher for more underbed storage.
-Loved the split bath. The toilet was closest to the hall (outside the room) and the shower/tub was closest to the beds. However, they were a step up with a lip. If you're accident prone like me, maybe wear footwear until you get used to it!
-If you're going to the park before your cruise, hold on to your room key. The lights in the room require a card with a magnetic strip - ideally, your cruise key, but then you have to remember to take it with you. We just left our Pop Century room key in the slot.
-Go up and forward. Despite it being the "adult only" area, it's the ONLY way through to parts of the ship which is a strange design. There were kids there, but they were generally the type of kids who wanted to be in a quiet area. However, once you go through the adult section and up a level.... there's this WHOLE front of the ship that no one on our cruise discovered. Tons of lounge chairs and sun to be had... no people!

:yay::yay:Jason got the job!!!!!! :yay::yay:

:dancer::dancer:

(sorry, I had to)

CONGRATS!

Joanne!! You have an awesome hubby! He's a keeper.

Kim!! Congrats to Jason! That is fantastic news :)

Ordered the boys new Crocs from Zappos yesterday. They arrived this afternoon! Too bad I have to send both pair back :( Chase's feet are too fat for his LOL and Rylan's have some weird stain that won't wipe off. Thank goodness for free return shipping.

Hello everyone! I've been reading, but not posting too much. Madison and I are off to NYC for the weekend with my mom and her best friend. My little sis is there doing 2 internships and I haven't seen her since Christmas! I've only been to NYC once and I was 15 years old. It was a school trip, so we didn't get to explore on our own. I can't wait!!!

Kimmy G!!! - WOO HOO!!!!!!!!! :cool1:  :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :cheer2: So happy for Jason!!!!!! That is such AWESOME news!!!

Sarah - your review of the Dream has me wanting to go on a cruise RIGHT NOW!!! It all sounds so wonderful!!! :cloud9:

Well, my girl had a wonderful day!! I made her fave of French Toast and Strawberries for breakfast and she got to have perogies in her lunch as well! She and I baked cookies last night for her to take in to share with her class! She had a GREAT day at school and then we took the girls out to eat at our Fave restaurant for supper and then my family came over for Cake and presents. My parents bought her her very own sewing machine and we gave her 2 of her fave Disney DVDs (Mary Poppins and POTC 3) and her very own MP3 player!!! She was sooo excited! Tomorrow at school is electronics Day so she and Daddy loaded it up full of all her fave music!! She is in bed now and sooo very happy after a GRREAT day!! Thanks for all your wishes for my little beauty!! princess:

I will try to get some of our trip plans up tomorrow!! Gotta go clean up from the mess my neice:scared1: and nephews left down in the playroom!

ooops - forgot to wish Meghan a GREAT trip to NYC - enjoy the Big Apple Meghan!!! Take lots of pics for your blog!!! :goodvibes Can't wait to hear all about it!!! :)

Sarah - thanks for your cruise report! I'll surely come up with questions. :) Uh, yeah, how about these:

Did you eat at Palo or Remy?
What did you think of the evening shows?
What cabin were you in?
Did you do any excursions?

Okay, that will do for a start!

Meghan - have a great time in NYC!! Looking forward to hearing about it.

Did you eat at Palo or Remy?

We did not. The cost of Remy is too rich for my blood. Since the cruise includes meals, I just can't handle paying an EXTRA $75, no matter how awesome the food is. I probably won't appreciate it. The husband was on the fence about Palo but eventually decided against it.

We skipped the evening shows. Our friends LOVED Believe. This is important because our friends (husband, wife, 10yr old boy) are NOT Disney fans (and it's a long story why they were on the cruise), but did go see Believe and thought it was really excellent.

We were in cabin 7690, which was an aft veranda. For floor 7, it was the second biggest aft veranda, too. It still had two chairs and an end table, but there was lots of room to move around. However, if you were at the railing and looked from side to side, you could EASILY see into your neighbor's balcony, as well. 7690 also had one of the murphy-style beds, but since there was 2 of us, we never got to see it. We also never got to meet our room host, but that's okay. He did his job!

We did not do any excursions. My husband wanted to keep this trip cheap! Our friends did the glass bottom boat & exploration tour in Nassau. They also really enjoyed it and gave us a minute-by-minute breakdown. They got a tour of the area, then switched to the boat, saw lots of sea creatures, switched (I think) to another boat, and then got to see some of the local buildings in Nassau. Did you hear about the fire at the port earlier this week?

We got off the boat briefly to walk around. We aren't really shoppers, so we didn't get to the straw market, but we did want to say we'd at least gotten off the ship! A lot of people didn't get off the ship, since most of the ship was open (a sit-down restaurant, Cabanas, Aquaduck). We had breakfast, rode the Aquaduck, sat and read, had lunch, got off the ship, then went back to the pool.

At Castaway Cay, we were looking forward to a nice beach day. We'd never done that before in our lives! We walked out to Serenity Bay and then rented inner tubes. Our friend - the guy - enjoyed the water slide, but said the faster of the two left him snorting water out of his sinuses for a few hours. It was also a windy day, in port, so a LOT of excursions had been canceled!

Getting back on the ship, though, the wet washcloths were SO nice. Salt water and sand just leaves you a little sticky. I thought that was a nice touch.

Huge congratulations to Jason!! That is the best news!!!! Glad it all worked out for the best!!!

Yes, Disco Dale is still as creepy as ever...OY!!!!!

Not many weekend plans here!! Definitely going to work out and then I'm thinking I need to start getting some plans together for my trips coming up!!
