~Snowbird Chat 2~

Hi ladies!

Looks like a lot of us have dropped out and are starting to drop back in! Where does the time go?!

Our receptionist's last day was Friday. She gave us, effectively, a week's notice, leaving us high and dry for the first week of classes. This was her first full-time job out of college, so I'm thinking that she doesn't have the maturity to understand that what she did was in really poor taste. Oh well!

Happy long weekend to the USians in the group!!

I don't think the younger generation really understands sometimes... when my son was writing his thank you notes for his gradation gifts (and he had to do ove 100) he hand wrote each of them... not that he wanted to mind you but I told him it was the right thing to do... and afterward he received much praise from those that received them that he took the time to write them... we did receive a bunch of thank you notes that were photos with a stamp on the back that said thanks... oh well... he made each one personal...
I tell them all the time good manners are important... and not to burn your bridges...

Hello Snowbirds. We are back.

Just a quick check in. The trip was wonderful. We had a great time. It wasn't as hot as I expected. I mean it was hot, but totally doable. We did get several days of rain (about 2-3 hours on about 5 of the days), but it didn't really interfere with our plans too much. CBR was great and the Poly is fabulous. I seriously could live there. :lovestruc So yes, we do have a new favorite!! Crowds were low for the most part. Mostly walk-ons at MK. Still long waits at Epcot & DHS for Soarin, TT, and TSM. We had some good meals and some not so good meals. Did a lot of shopping - 3 trips to DTD!

I'm working on getting the pics loaded today! (In-between doing laundry and getting things ready for the first day of school tomorrow)

Welcome back... can't wait to see the photos... glad you had a nice time and didn't let a little rain stop you.

Hi Birdies! It's so nice to see so many Snowbirds checking in. :goodvibes Can't wait to hear all the details on recently completed trips, as well as the plans for upcoming ones!

No holiday here. I was most of the way to the mail room when I remembered that there wouldn't be anything in our box. :upsidedow

Kathy..sorry you don't have a holiday! Glad you are visitng with us tho!! And hey...we just hit 100 pages again!!! LOL!!

Hey guys! Hope you all had a nice holiday weekend (well, those who get it!). We did - nice and easy!!!
Today the girls and my girlfriend and I went to the Twins game (they lost) It was gorgeous weather!!
DH is working at a concert tonight and has been at the State Fair all day (poor thing!) probably eating a bunch of yummy things!
Now the girls are getting bathed and ready for bed!

Big First Day of School Tomorrow!! I always make little signs with the date, and grade and take their pictures before the bus. Then I take more pictures at the bus stop. Then I go to work. :( I'd rather stay and relax with a cup of coffee and good book. Oh well.

Kim - glad you made it back safe and sound!

I think Shelly's home too?! YAY! I hope you all had great trips!

It's a rainy day here and it's supposed to continue like this all week. :upsidedow We still enjoyed the weekend. I was in spring cleaning mode for some reason and started going through closets like a mad woman yesterday and today. I weeded through the kids winter clothes from last year and discovered that they grew tons since last winter. I think I'll be shopping for new winter clothes soon.

I think I may take some time this week to start making plans for our December trip. I haven't wanted to get too excited in case we had to postpone it but it looks promising enough that I will let myself get excited now. We have enough money saved up to cover the package and only need to save up a bit more to cover the road trip and spend money!

Sheree- Happy first day of school to the girls!

Shawna- Woo Hoo for being in the 60's!!! I'm just happy to be under 100 finally. Not as happy as if we were still going the same week as you but I'll manage. ;)

Sarah- I'm sure your receptionist will learn her lesson when she needs to put your work down as a reference at some point. :sad2: Hope you fill the position soon!

Mindy- Good to "see" you! How are your handsome little guys?

Shelly- Welcome home!!! Can't wait to see a link to a TR in your siggie! :thumbsup2

Kathy- Bummer you didn't get today as a holiday. At least you didn't get ALL the way to the mail room though.

Yeah for 100 pages! :)

Glad to hear you all had a good weekend. We headed to an amusement park about 3 hours from home where my DS8 finally decided he was ready to ride all the water slides! YEAH! He had a blast. Of course, I still can't get him on any roller coasters, but hopefully that will come. I need a roller coaster buddy - DH won't ride them either. It was such a nice day to go (we went Saturday) - the weather was hot (like 104 degrees!! :scared1:), but the crowds were low. I think the longest we waited for a slide was 15 minutes. So we went from 104 on Saturday to 67 yesterday....crazy midwest weather!! :)

Hope you all have a good week!!! Good luck to those kiddos starting school today.

the school bus drove right by the house today... kind of sad... my kids are all grown up!!

Hi Snowbirds... I haven't been on the boards in months ... as soon as I logged on I came to find you... I hope all is well with all of you... I will try and look back and see what you all have been up to... I have been following Meghan on facebook with her sweet baby Cole...

Life has been crazy for us this past year... Maggie came back from her CP program in January... she loved it. Then she graduated with her BS in Psychology in May. Daniel graduated high school in June. We delivered him to Saint Bonaventure last week. Maggie started graduated school this past week also.

We lost Tim's Dad to bone cancer in January... and we are struggling with the fact that his mom only has a short time left with us as she is battling ovarian cancer. I can't imagine losing both my parents in one year... tim and his brothers are remaining strong for their mom but its really tough... she is 13 hours away from us and wants to stay home...

Next week I head to North Carolina to move my mom her to central new york. She can't take the heat in the Carolinas so she is moving here... I think she forgot how much snow we get here..lol... anyway I am looking forward to it.

We are planing a Disney trip for January 3-9... just a quick trip to go play some golf and get out of the snow... plus my annual pass expires January 12th... we have two rooms at POP as we are taking my mom and my aunt with us... Maggie still has her seasonal benefits so we were able to get a good deal!!!

I hope everyone survived Irene and that all your children have had a great start to the school year... its good to be back - I missed all of you!

Welcome back Wendy!!! So sorry to hear about your DH's parents.

Your son is now out in my neck of the woods! (kinda)

Welcome back Kim & Shelly!!! Can't wait to hear all about your trips.

I cannot believe my little Maddie started 4th grade today. :sad1: I hate the first day of school. It always makes me so sad. The house is SO quiet without her! She's been such a good little helper all summer and I miss her like crazy.

I saw her photo on face book this morning... she looked so cute....

Dan loves NY... he had offers at schools out of state but decided he wanted to stay close... but not to close... Bonaventure is about 3 1/2 hours for us...

Well, another school year is underway!

Sarah had her last first day of elementary school today. 5th grade!! I can hardly believe it. She was really excited to be in the oldest class! Next year will be so different!

Paige was just excited to wear new clothes and have her two best friends in her class.

glad all your little chipmunks had a great first day back to:teacher: ! I know my mom was always a WRECK the first day!!! But, being a hs family makes it easier..it is still sad to order the next grade up!! Knowing how fast it has went with them here I know it's hard for ya'll to send them out everyday! DS15 was in school till 2nd grade, came home at 3rd, and I think my dh had a way harder time sending him than I did!! LOL...but he was always so anxious and ready!!!
We are having some gorgeous weather here!!! Today I will be leaving some doors and window WIIIIIIIDE open!!! That doesnt happen too often down here! Hope you all have great weather today and the kids all come home smiling and happy!

I'm in the same boat as you, Wendy - this is the first year in 16 years that there's no "first day of school" for us! Although DH did have to drive down to DD's new apartment with furniture for her - almost like move-in day at college! :rotfl:

Now if we can only get to "first day at new permanent job" - for which there will be no tears!

First day of school here too. DS12 started middle school today. :faint: Where does the time go???

I miss them already and our poor little puppy doesn't know what to think! :upsidedow

Poor Jack.....

I'm not ready for middle school...thankfully I still have a few years. Elementary school was hard enough on me! :rotfl2:

Our school is underway, as well!

Since we're now a two car family, I'm leaving a little early to get ahead of the parents and teachers. Them some scary drivers! :) Campus is lively, again, which is nice. It was surprising to see so many people yesterday but it's a good thing. (Too many people in college towns forget that, as a college town, that's your bread and butter - Ann Arbor is no different!)

Move-in last week was horribly hot - like, heat index near 100. The football game Saturday started with 122F field temperature and, before they called the game due to severe weather, ended at 78F. It's been nicer and cooler since then. But it's kind of rainy today, I have a meeting across campus, and I forgot an umbrella. Oh well.

My exciting news is that I bought a pair of heels. Between my knee problems, knee surgeries, stress fractures, and torn muscles... it's been WAY too long. I'm really happy; they're cute and there's no pain! (and they're work appropriate)

In just over a month, we're flying back to MA for my niece's first birthday. I can't wait!!
