~Snowbird Chat 2~

we stayed there, in a dedicated 2 bedroom. the balcony is on the opposite side of the entrance door. ( if i can pics when i get home ill post some for ya). dont remeber what section we were in, but it was right across from dtd. literally a 5-7 minute walk. we could see the pool from our balcony. the decor may not be my style, but i loved how much room we had. for 6 adults, it was great. we were far away from gift shop area but we had done garden grocer so we didnt need to worry about eating there. the atmosphere was very relaxed and calm.
Thanks! I've moved over to a 1 BR at SSR. Asked for Grandstands or Springs, which I understand are the closest to the main building & main pool. That's more important since DH's not going to the parks much. If it were still Pleasure Island, then the walk to DTD might be worth something, but we don't shop or eat there much. But saving almost $700 is a lot of horse feed! :rotfl:

And good news - power came back on at 2 AM! Now we just have to get up the courage to face the refrigerator & freezers! :scared1:

There...all that jumping up & down wore me out!!!:rotfl:

I wouldn't speak so soon. I thought of you while watching the weather channel last night and they said something about a possible tropical something or other heading into the gulf. :scared:

Hey Kim...yep...got my on the gulf with anticipation!! We are hoping it all comes with some much needed rain. At this point it may not intensify to more than a Tropical Storm..just lots of rain forecasted for this weekend...We are sooo ready!!!!

Glad you were spared from Irene! Congrats to your friend getting married! They are honeymooning in Disney right?

They actually aren't taking a honeymoon until next Fall!!!! My friend's husband had to go back to work on Tuesday. Bummer! They're thinking of heading to the Bahamas next September.

Hooray for double digits!!! :banana::cool1::woohoo::yay::dance3::cheer2:

Hi Snowbirds... I haven't been on the boards in months ... as soon as I logged on I came to find you... I hope all is well with all of you... I will try and look back and see what you all have been up to... I have been following Meghan on facebook with her sweet baby Cole...

Life has been crazy for us this past year... Maggie came back from her CP program in January... she loved it. Then she graduated with her BS in Psychology in May. Daniel graduated high school in June. We delivered him to Saint Bonaventure last week. Maggie started graduated school this past week also.

We lost Tim's Dad to bone cancer in January... and we are struggling with the fact that his mom only has a short time left with us as she is battling ovarian cancer. I can't imagine losing both my parents in one year... tim and his brothers are remaining strong for their mom but its really tough... she is 13 hours away from us and wants to stay home...

Next week I head to North Carolina to move my mom her to central new york. She can't take the heat in the Carolinas so she is moving here... I think she forgot how much snow we get here..lol... anyway I am looking forward to it.

We are planing a Disney trip for January 3-9... just a quick trip to go play some golf and get out of the snow... plus my annual pass expires January 12th... we have two rooms at POP as we are taking my mom and my aunt with us... Maggie still has her seasonal benefits so we were able to get a good deal!!!

I hope everyone survived Irene and that all your children have had a great start to the school year... its good to be back - I missed all of you!

Hi Wendy! Good to hear from you! Congrats to Maggie and Daniel! :teacher: And hooray for having your mom move closer to you!

I'm so sorry to hear about Tim's father and mother. Your family is in my prayers.

Wendy..glad you came back!! We have missed you!! Isn't meghans little Cole the cutest thing!!! Congrats on your kids' accomplishments and getting your mom closer to you....and the upcoming Jan trips.
Sorry to hear about Tims mom too...I know that losing his Dad was hard, but add your mom right behind it and it's gotta be unreal!! We will continue to pray for your family....

Thanks, Sheree. I guess I'm confused though - how can you have balconies if they're outside corridors?

Sorry, the corridors are on a hallway that is open air to the outside. But it's on an inner part of the building. The balcony is on the outer part of the building.
I wish I had some good pictures to show it.

Hi Wendy! So sorry about Tim's parents. That has to be hard.
Kim - sorry I missed your double digit dance. :yay::banana::banana::banana:

I'm updating my TR today! Sound the alarms! It has been so long!

Hope everyone is doing ok after the storms!
Shawna- I hope you get your rain and nothing else!

if anyone can explain to me how to put the link in my signature with a name to it that would be great... thanks

I'm baa-aacckkk!!! ;) Hee Hee :upsidedow Still awake here at 2:10 am - just can't get to sleep! We pulled in the drive way at just after midnight after a 3.5 plane ride and then a 7 hour drive!!! :scared1: Trip was great! Lots of details to follow soon! Maybe even a TR! :goodvibes Gonna go try to sleep! Just had some chamomile tea to try and relax! :cloud9:

Glad to know that everybody survived all the weird weather stuff! We heard about the earthquake when we were driving to the airport on the 24th and were following Irenes path quite closely! So glad she decided to avoid Florida! :)

Sheree...we got a great day of rain yesterday! Not severe storms, no thunder, no lightning...just rain all day..light for a while then it would rain a little heavier..never at all a super downpour...it was weird...we dont usuallly get it gentle like that for an entire day. Boy are we thankful! 70% today-right now it's just overcast and very breezy--temps were down to the upper 70s yesterday, not sure what it is right now, but it's nice!!!!
Wendy.... I always just put the link in mine. I have never figured out how to do just the title without the link #s showing up...or how to do chapters once i start...so, I am no help toyou there whatsoever! I am headed to check it out!!
Kimmy...Glad you are home safe and sound!!!Hopefully you got some sleep after the tea! Can't wait to hear all about it..

Hi ladies!

Looks like a lot of us have dropped out and are starting to drop back in! Where does the time go?!

Our receptionist's last day was Friday. She gave us, effectively, a week's notice, leaving us high and dry for the first week of classes. This was her first full-time job out of college, so I'm thinking that she doesn't have the maturity to understand that what she did was in really poor taste. Oh well!

Happy long weekend to the USians in the group!!

Congrats to them both! What an exciting time.

We just moved my mom from Southern California back here to IN. Her health isn't the best anymore and she needed to be closer to family (she had none out there). It was not a fun move, but I'm glad she did it.

We are planing a Disney trip for January 3-9... just a quick trip to go play some golf and get out of the snow... plus my annual pass expires January 12th... we have two rooms at POP as we are taking my mom and my aunt with us... Maybe our days of triple digits are behind us!! We still have some pretty hot sept & oct days every year, but not in the century marks!!
ya'll have a great weekend...:wizard:
