~Snowbird Chat 2~

Hello everyone!! How are you? Is everybody getting back into the swing of things at school now?

Life has been insane here the past few weeks. I started at the bakery, and my other job at the store too. I apparently had a weakness and can't say "no" to anyone. So I agreed to stay for an extra "week" to help them get through a transition time while 4 employees went back to school and 4 new ones started. So I worked on training and helping them keep things flowing since there were a lot of things that needed to change within a few weeks time frame. I had a few days that I was in at the bakery at 6am done at 2pm, then to the store after that until 9:30pm. Needless to say, I was tired.

So finally this week just one job. It too wasn't without it's stress. Monday I was informed that I might not get my time off for Disney in Dec. Which I was told when I interviewed that I would have it off because I was up front about needing it. However since being the low man on the totem pole, someone else needs a couple of those days off. I very politely explained that I would not be here Dec 2-10 whether they give me the time off or not. Today the manager finally gave me the "aproved time off". :woohoo:

So hopefully things will start to calm down a little. That I belive is wishful thinking however.

Hope everyone is doing well.

:scared1: That could have been a disaster... good thing you were firm with them:thumbsup2 and you got the time off.... that is one of the good things about being self employed... I take time off when I want... also means no steady paycheck... and that was very nice of you to stay and train the newbies!!!!

Good morning everyone! It's been a very busy week around here for us. Dance started again for both Madison and myself, had my first MOPS meeting of the year yesterday morning, Maddie & Cole had their pictures taken last night (so cute!) and me and Maddie are heading to Syracuse tonight for a feis tomorrow. Whew!!!

Meghan... your in my neck of the woods... I am heading to St. Bonaventure today to watch Dan play golf... next time maybe I can come and watch Madison dance... that would be fun!! And if you ever need a place to stay we have plenty of room here...

Hey girls :wave2: Well, dh is gone to a Men's breakfast this morning, kiddos are asleep and I am on the boards!! Life is Good!;) So,..I am stiiiiill waiting for a RO discount-saw that this past week they released a 30% for rooms at one of the Disneyland resorts for fall:yay: I can only hope DisneyWorld will follow this week!! For all the people going earlier in Nov or Oct,..their 45 day window is past, or will be this week-not sure if Disney thought that through or if they really aren't gonna give out one this year. My ds12 had a brilliant:idea: the other night-we were looking at the ASFam suites pics as we have never stayed here, and are thinking if we don't get a discount, we may have to split the trip up with the first half there and the 2nd half at CR...haven't ran this by DH yet-but need a plan if we can't swing it without the code. Anyway, he says 'Mom, why can't they just lower the room prices to where they would be when you get a discount? Then have dates when they are higher all the time?' I said, Like holidays within a value or Fall season? And he says, yeah. What a smart kid...I have taught him the questions all good disney trip planners wonder!!!! LOL...just thought i would share that with y'all,....I was actually thinking that same thing when he voiced it. It was actually kind of strange! He is apparently more like me than I thought!

We will be in Syracuse again the first weekend in November for another feis. We'll be traveling with 2 of Madison's friends and their moms, so we're probably going to share a 1 bedroom suite. It's so funny because it's called the Finger Lakes Feis, but it's at the Holiday Inn on Electronics Parkway....in Liverpool!!! So funny to me.

Well, I survived the wacky weekend! Went up to my scrapbooking retreat on Thursday after work (DH says, oh, you're going tonight?) and came home early Saturday a.m. to get Sarah and coach volleyball. We lost our match 2-1, but they were pretty well matched. Came home, took a shower and headed back. I was back by noon and scrapping away until Sunday afternoon. SO TIRED!

Then I come to work this morning, and have a message from my boss's husband. (that always means something bad!) She is back in the hospital! Poor thing! She had a bowel resection in June and has another blockage, but they think they can resolve it with an NG tube rather than surgery. I sure hope so!!! So I'm a little out of sorts today.

Shawna - I hope that code comes through for you soon.

Meghan - how did Madison do at the Feis?

Shelly - I made it to your TR - you're popular!! I got there an hour after you started and I was on page 2!

That is about 15 minutes from my house..... maybe I will be able to get away to come watch... that is Maggie's birthday so don't know what we have planned... but shouldn't take up the whole weekend!!!!

well hello birdies! :goodvibes
How are y'all today? I have had an ulcer in my mouth for the last few days that is absolutely terrible!!! I mean, awful...and with that over the weekend I felt like I was coming down with something,..stayed in bed most of yesterday due to the throbbing pain on my tongue and woke up with a headache. So...it can only get better from here!! LOL! I think maybe it was a bit of a virus-y type thing..:confused3 anyway, I think the ulcer is *hopefully* shrinking...if this headache :headache: would leave I would be ever so thankful!
Keep stalking the thread/website for a RO code...tried to go to the WDW site twice today just to see about prices for other rooms if no code comes out. DS15 is still dying to go back to the Poly...so, I thought I would see how much a standard room with a not-so-stellar view would be for the first half and then back to the CR to finish up the trip would be. If that's still outrageous, I am gonna try to convince dh that we should start out at the All stars in a family suite, then head to CR for the other 4 nights. I just can't see him agreeing to all 8 nights in a room that much with NO discount. Of course, he hates riding those buses so much, he may cave!!:rotfl:
ANYHOO---got on the website and it won't let me do anything...says the site is down temporarily for whatever reason-I forget how it's worded. But...the Disney Snob inside is hoping that means they are about to release a Room Only code!!! Could it be, people? Really?!!! Lets all keep our fingers crossed that it's so!!! If not, I will just slip off into a corner somewhere and weep.

Hope you feel better soon.... And, I can't help but be positive with you that website maintenance means they're updating it with your discount codes! :)

Shawna - uh, no, I'm not caught up. I did complete a vaction book that included our 2008 one day at MK and Carnival cruise. Then I worked on Sarah's book - she's up to 1st grade! Only 4 years behind!

Have you been doing anything for the ulcer in your mouth? I get them a lot (usually stress) and swish with a mix of hydrogen peroxide and water or a mix of liquid benadryl and maalox. Also take Lysine. That helps lots of things.

Fingers crossed that they were setting up your RO discount!!! I know you'll keep us posted.

Not much going on here except for me getting excited about our trip. :yay: I can't believe I'm finally going to see Disney at Christmas!!! :santa:

Last night we traded in our gas guzzling 16 mpg Ford Explorer that needed about $2000 worth of work for a shiny new Nissan Versa that gets 32 mpg highway. :woohoo: It will save us tons on gas just with DH going back and forth to work. While we were driving it home DH got all quiet and I could tell he was in deep thought. Turns out he was doing the math in his head for how much we will save when we drive it to Disney in Dec! :goodvibes It's such a happy moment for me when DH talks Disney without me bringing it up first!

We will spend less on gas but it means I really have to be careful with the amount of stuff I pack. It's a hatchback and it doesn't have nearly as much storage room as the Explorer. The stroller is my main concern. I have a double Maclaren that we always take but this time we may just end up buying a cheap umbrella for Em and letting the two of them take turns in it. Andrew is really too big but his legs tire out easily and I know he's not going to make it the entire week. It's nice having the double if we need it for both of them to sit or even just to carry our stuff while the kids walk. I might have to do a dry run with our stuff soon to see what to do.

Sheree- every page is a page closer to being caught up! I was getting close to being caught up but then life caught up with me again. Sorry to hear about your boss. I hope she doesn't have to go through surgery.

Shawna- I'm still crossing my fingers for a RO discount for you!

Hope everyone is well!

congrats on the new ride!!!!!! anything for saving gas! I say just rent a double stroller from Disney for the week--then you dont have to mess with it in the car or the airport...they do sell those umbrella strollers there too....not sure how much all that is this year..but you could probably get on the family or budget board and ask.

Just called and no codes are attached to any of our email accounts and nothing changed on the website. what the heck?

forgot about the swish! Never had Lsyine, gotta check it out!

Kim - I apparently missed that you are going in Dec. What dates will you be there?

Congrats on the new car!!! Have you thought about renting a stroller... not from Disney of courses.. they are crazy expensive. When we were there last Nov my friend rented one off site and she LOVED it... it was from Magic strollers... http://www.magicstrollers.com/?aCode=mousesavers $25 for the first day and $9 a day after that for a double stroller and its $15 for the first day and $8 a day after that for the single..... they delivered it to the hotel and she left it there for pickup ... very easy..

This past weekend we went to visit DS at school and to watch his golf tournament... the visit and the tournament were nice but the hotel visit reminded me of the great customer service we get at Disney hotels... I was sitting in the lobby with my mom just chatting and the gentleman who was working the desk kept interrupting our conversation... butting in.. then he would go off on tangents talking about police officers carrying machine guns in Europe and ways that we could sue the government so as to not have to work... thinking that I might be able to get rid of him I ask if the hotel offered suites...thinking I would upgrade to a larger room and then we could go visit in there... no one likes to sit on beds and chat.. any way... the hotel does put out a dessert tray in the evening... he got up all pissy and said the desserts were still frozen and everyone wants something for free... I told him I was talking about a room... not pastries!!! He was such a jerk...

hey

it might be a while before i get to my TR if ever. My world was just completely shattered last weekend. My husband announced that he no longer loves me and wants out of our marriage. I am devastated. Please keep me in your prayers during this very sad time. :sad2:

Oh, Kim - I'm so sorry! I can't even imagine. Hold onto your girls and your friends. And us! :grouphug:

Sarah--my team will be in your neck of the woods this Saturday. Our first game was a disaster, so hoping this one will go better... :rolleyes1

Two weeks late... I hope you didn't mean Notre Dame? Well, on week 3, they made up for it!!

I've been AWOL, what with back to school year and my annual concert trip. We were shortstaffed by 2 people for that first week, but we pulled through. It was just stressful, even if I wasn't that busy. More the potential and the attempts to make sure everything was covered.

The annual concert trip was AWESOME but now I'm sick, so I finally have a chance to catch up. Whew!!
