~Snowbird Chat 2~

Anyone else get all of their Christmas decor packed up yesterday?? :rolleyes1 I was disappointed to wake up this morning and Andy hadn't taken the tree downstairs yet. I want it gone! :rotfl:My living room is way too small, and I need space and normalcy (is that a word?)! And I need to focus on packing! Drew asked last night when we could start. Yes, I have trained him well...:dance3:

Kim - I'm sorry your FIL is suffering. I'm sure it's hard on all of you. I will pray for peace for your family.

We have NOT taken one decoration down! I usually wait until New Year's weekend. My house looks so bare right after I put it all away! It's sort of depressing.
My DH and kids got me the rest of the Mickey village from Dept. 56! I can't pack that up yet! It's so cute! We also got Epic Mickey for the Wii and are so into it! It's fun, but frustrating!

Shawna!! DB Disney bags rock!! I can't wait to use mine at the parks! I tried it out the other night when DH and I went to a play (Billy Elliott by the way, is AWESOME!). I think it will be perfect!

I'm so exhausted from all the Christmas fun! I am enjoying a light, relaxing day at the office!

I wish I could pack up my decor and tree ! I am enjoying a relaxing day at home, before I have to go back to work, but the rest of the family are out and about.

Well I got my epic mickey, haven't opened or played it yet. We ended up with 5 Wii Games :upsidedow, so mine will wait. W:upsidedowe had a very Disney Christmas ! Dh must have cleare dout the disney store of their Christmas Ornaments!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and that Santa was good!

25 Days to go... I need the tree down and let the packing begin! :cool1:

Prayers and healthy wishes to you that are sick, or families are in the hospital.

Our tree came down tonight. Now that space is overrun with toddler toys. Why are they all HUGE?!?! I love the tree but it's nice to have things back to normal.

Wish I could start packing. Only 170ish days to go LOL

Not home yet! But it will probably wait until I'm walking, even then... so probably by the second weekend in January!

That said, today was my first day allowed full weight bearing, so I'm getting there!!

Great news! Keep up the good work!

Great news, Sarah!!

Headed out for a haircut in a bit. I'm in need of a complete overhaul. I've neglected myself for far too long. Having a baby will do that :(

Don't feel bad Mindy- Tis the life of a mom. My kids have everything they need. It's taken me almost 7 years of being a mother to realize that taking time for myself is really important. Hmmm that reminds me that I need to make a hair appt for myself! I may take Em with me for her first trim :goodvibes

We haven't started taking down any decorations yet but I'm definitely ready to have my living room back to normal. We finished getting all the toys put away last night.

Thanks for all the kind words and prayers for Jay's dad. We're just waiting at this point. He's still fighting but we know he's not going to recover fully again. He still has pneumonia and is really weak. He has small blood clots that thicken his blood which apparently is common with terminal cancer so his circulation is bad. We're just praying that he is comfortable and enjoying the time we have with him as best we can. It might be a while yet but I jump every time the phone rings. It's a new phase of life that I'm not ready for yet. I don't want to grow up and deal with such grown up things.

It's never easy to watch someone you love go through such pain. We lost my grandma nearly 2 years ago. She lived with Thyroid cancer for 30+years. She had been through countless rounds of radiation therapy, which really weakened her body. On Christmas day, 2008, she passed out and hit her head pretty hard. Unbeknownst to us, a blood clot had formed on her brain. She had clotting issue prior to that. In January 2009, she started to display symptoms of alzheimers, which turned out to be complications of the blood clot. We lost her that February. Not a single day goes by without her popping into my mind.

We have not taken down our Christmas stuff yet either! We only just decorated the house the week or so before Christmas so I am most definitely NOT tired of it yet! :) Ken and I both have the 3rd of January off whille the girls are back to school then so perhaps we will put it away then! :goodvibes 2 weeks of Christmas is about all I can handle! ;)

Oh my Kimmy girl - so sorry to hear that Jay's dad is not doing well right now! It so so difficult to watch the ones we love in pain isn't it? I think of you all quite often and remember you in my prayers even more! Hang in there my friend and just love him while you have him here!! XOXO

Hello my birdie friends! I am trying to organize my house today!! Tons of laundry...I have been a bad laundress this week!! Let it go til the kids are about out of jeans and underwear!!! LOL...So...lots of loads and I am slloooooowwlly taking ornaments off the tree..got the storage boxes out just a bit ago, and getting ready to put it away for another year. This time of year is always a bit melancholy for me...my children will be another year older when I bring it out again.:sad1: And who knows what we will experience in the coming year? Kim...I have been thinking about you a lot...a dear man in our church is going thru a battle with cancer and they sent out a prayer chain for him yesterday. He is in suuuuch pain, the meds aren't really easing all of it at this point. I don't know how long we will have him..of course, we are all praying for his healing.. but we don't know if it's Gods time for him yet, or if he will pull out of this again.
But...it's rainy, dark and a little chilly outside here,so the kids are stuck inside again today-which always makes you a wee bit down. And it's not even the pretty rain..it's just yucky.Well...enough of the pity-party...I have lots to be thankful for...our home, nice cars, healthy children, a great church (which all 3 of my kids are involved in and love greatly),a wonderful husband, and the privelege to live in a place where I can educate my children at home. Knowing what they hear, and the values I have, I myself, can instill in them. And, above all, a relationship with my Jesus, the One who Created me! Not to mention all of you--who I love and am thankful for! Even if we haven't 'officially' met,...you ARE my friends!!
I may not have time to be on here the next few days, but I wanted to end this year and start the new telling ya'll that I appreciate all of you!! And that I will be praying for your families as we roll into the New Year!! Can y'all believe it...2011?!! Isn't that just crazy?!!! Well...have a safe and wonderful holiday and tell your little ones to enjoy these last few days at home before we all start back to school!! I hope 2011 is the best year for all of you!!!

Forgot to say that I did change my older sons pic in the siggy..to a computer! He's been saving, and got $$$ for his birthday, and then Christmas and bought his long-awaited MAC!!!! He is one happy kid!!! He is trying to convert all of us!!! LOL

YAY for DS!!! What a great purchase. We are a MAC family (My BIL is a store manager for one of the STL Apple stores). We bough our Imac about 5 yrs ago-it was returned and the main box was open, but the smaller boxes inside weren't-the guy decided he wanted some feature it didn't have, so we got it about 50% off!! Something is going out in the processor or fan or something, and hubby is pushing for a new one. Um...not in the budget right now. I have a PC laptop because until recently my real estate listing systems wasn't very mac compatible, but it was VERY cheap and it's on its last leg, too. UGH!! Always something, right?!? :confused3

Well I'm home now from CO. Got home a couple hours ago. Laundry already started, getting the grocery list going. Back to reality. Not that CO was much a true "vacation" to begin with this time. It's pretty much been decided now that Grandpa cannot be on his own. They had planned to move him to an assisted living center this afternoon, and we'll see how things go from there. The talk is that they may release him in a few weeks, which means that my father will then pack up and head out to CO for, well, let's just say an undetermined amount of time. We stopped in this morning to see him and it just broke my heart. As we were leaving I just got this sense that I will probably never actually see him again. So I've vowed that I will send him letters weekly and he'll get phone calls from me too. It's so hard being so far away.

Sorry to be Debbie-Downer. My family isn't the whole lovey-dovey show emotions type. So I keep a lot of things bottled up, until basically I just reach a breaking point. Thanks for "listening".

Hey girls...gotta question for ya....do any of you own a Nook (or Nook Color) or a Kindle? I am looking into purchasing one and just wondered what your opinions were...I am gonna post it on another thread too...just wanted to get your opinions first!

Hello everyone! It has been quite the crazy week around here. I can't believe tomorrow is already Friday! Anyways....we have not taken down our decorations yet. We'll probably do that Saturday or Sunday. I hate the way the house looks when everything is all put away. It just looks so sad.

We had a fabulous Christmas. Madison got quite a few Lego Star Wars sets and we've been busy putting those together. They are a lot of fun, but a lot of work. We managed to put away quite a few presents yesterday, but there are still a few things lingering about.

Don't know if any of you follow hockey, but the World Junior hockey tournament is being held in Buffalo right now (it's an under 20 tournament...very talented 18 and 19 yr olds). Competition started on Sunday and it goes until this Tuesday. Tony, my litte sis and my BIL went to an afternoon game yesterday and I joined them for the evening game. Now, I have nothing against our Northern neighbors (love ya Kim!), but the entire arena was full of red and white last night. I never felt like a foreigner in my own country before!!!! Needless to say, the game was Canada vs. Norway....Canada killed them 10-1 (I think). We left during the 3rd period to beat traffic. Tony and I are going to a quarterfinal game Sunday night with my older sis and BIL. I can't wait to see what teams it will be!

Anyways....the big news of the day is that we found out what we're having. :goodvibes We will be welcoming a little boy to our family!!!! I come from a family of 3 girls and all of the cousins on my mom's side are girls except for one. Madison didn't take the news so well this morning, but she's getting used to the fact that she's going to have a little brother. Now, on the not-so-great news end....I also have pink eye.:sad1:

Congratulations, Meghan!! Little boys are fabulous!!

Shawna-My niece just got a nook for Christmas and she loves it. Of course, she's 11 LOL. I played with it, though, and it's really cool. Books are easy enough to access.

Happy New Year everyone! We are headed out to spend some time with my dad. His birthday is today. DH's was yesterday. He's celebrating by driving 7 hours to NC to purchase a Corvette. Can't wait to take it for a drive.
