Sneaking alcohol onto DCL - We need to learn how

You never know who those people with less then 5,000 are? If you only knew? Now I can report back to the beards exactly what kind of people hang out on these boards. I always knew bullies hung out in message boards, you just confirmed it. And for the rest of you who applaud this behavior shame on you.

I think you are missing the sarcasm and obvious digs at certain individuals. There are some that come across as know it alls and/or quote the rules non stop.

I think it was a bit tongue in cheek, also. That poster was the original poster who started the thread. They have less than 5,000 posts.

Just a little light-heartedness.

As to the bolded part, I've only ever read that term on the Carnival board elsewhere.

We need a sarcasm font because I'm 99.99% sure that's how TheLanes intended that comment.

It says you can bring 2 bottles of wine per port stop. How will they keep track? What's to keep you from going on and off?

I would guess they would set up the KTTW swipe (that you do when you reboard) so they can flag when someone brings their allotment onboard.

Or, maybe they will rely on everyone's honesty :scratchin to abide by the policy.

Well they will have to do a better job to update the swipe machines than the PR, customer relations and the HQ have done informing and explaining to there paid in full customers and future customers about this change!

Why hasn't someone discreetly marketed that already!
Let's set up a Co-Op!

Still waiting for some good tips.....and please keep the debate about the policy to the other threads.

Looks like it is better to do a Google search, DCL cruisers aren't smugglers, even though piracy is a big selling movie draw...

Yes, a quick google search will give you lots of ideas such as:

Rum Runners (clear, plastic bottle/bags) which can be filled and refilled. Put them in your shoes or around the edge of your suitcase;
Shambooze bottles (fake shampoo bottles that can be filled with your choice of liquor);
Small bottles (mickey's if available or anything smaller than a litre) that are all plastic and kind of flat. Again place to the sides of your suitcase;
Multiple airplane bottles scatter throughout your suitcase (put some in your toiletry bag, some in a make up style bag, etc).

I just got one kid graduated from HS and dropped her off at college last week, another one starting his senior year in HS, started a new business, we're supposed to move next summer so getting a house ready/sold and finding another four states away...leaves me without much time for cruise boards. :( I missed our lively debates! :)

As for DCL - I don't like HOW they did it but we all know WHY they did it. Then again, we just took a cruise in June and my next cruise is 9 days visiting St Lucia, St Kitts, Barbados and St Maarten so I don't have time/money to book another one anyway. Concern for what DCL does or does not do will have to wait another year. Perhaps they'll change more things by then, it seems to be the norm with these cruise lines right now.

Hi there Texas, good to see you!. I was wondering where you were. Congratulations to your HS grad and the new Business.........Yes it has been boring not have you to debate with!

Back on subject, all the lines seem to be doing odd stuff lately, like they want to stir stuff up and provide fodder for the boards. One thing I think is coming over time is no more food included cruises for the average cruiser. I believe the Lines are working toward a all, pay as you go food service.

Looking forward to talking soon.

How about this: if I'm in line waiting to get into the cruise terminal and the 60 people in front of me all get caught trying to smuggle in alcohol and take an extra minute each to get their stuff tagged. That means I'm in line for an extra hour that I could be on the ship, so guess what, it does affect others.

With that in mind, I don't like the new alcohol policy and I think DCL did a horrible job with executing it. But it is what it is and I will choose to take my cruise dollars elsewhere.
they just need one security line for people who are trying to sneak liquor onto the ship and one line for those who are adhering to the new policy. :rotfl2:

Problem is the sneakers would head for the "new policy" line. So to save time, head to the empty "liquor" line...

So, most of the other cruise line boards have threads on this, we now need to start one.

There are various ways to do it, if you've cruised other lines, what's your favorite, and what do you think will work best once DCL starts their new policy?

I've used rum runners in my checked bags on Carnival and Celebrity, and never had an issue.

I say go back to Carnival. I don't need anything bad enough to sneak it on. And I don't mean everyone gets "sloshed" but I've seen enough on Disney to know they do!

I think Carnival is trying to call you.

I say go back to Carnival. Who's watching your kids while you're getting sloshed??!! I don't need anything bad enough to sneak it on. I hope they find your liquor and confiscate it. Just saying! Can't believe you'd put this out there. Geezzz.....

I think Carnival is trying to call you.

You're a gem. I'm not the only one thinking along the same lines. If you're so snobby, maybe you should be on the Cunard boards, not DCL.

What's wrong with Carnival? I know they have the rep as being the red headed stepchild of the cruise industry, but we have always thoroughly enjoyed our cruises on Carnival! Good food, enjoyed yummy drinks of the day, nice rooms, enjoyed entertaining shows and comedians, great fun on the ship and off, met great people as table mates, been to lots of places we'd never been to before and have made great memories of great vacations! Isn't that basically the point of your cruise vacation no matter what cruise line you're on? We're super excited to try DCL, although disappointed that we fall into the category of those PIF who got screwed in my opinion! Just irks me when people seem to talk about Carnival cruisers with the impression they are all white trash drunks! That's not us! We've always had a great time on Carnival just like we're hoping to enjoy ourselves on DCL!
