Sneaking alcohol onto DCL - We need to learn how

Speeding is against the law you're endangering other peoples lives.

Sneaking alcohol on a ship is not against any laws. It's not hurting anybody. I'm not going to be embarrassed if DCL catches me I could give a rat's behind. As the customer I have plenty of options for spending my vacation dollars. Disney is the one with the PR nightmare.

On the ship, the law is the ship, under the Captain, speeding does endanger lives, but being drunk can, this misnomer sneaking alcohol on doesn't hurt anyone has been answered on these prolific threads numerous times before. Someone gets drunk (1) They can hurt themselves, (2) hurt others, (3) on a ship do something stupid, (4) Vomit -spread bugs. Abusive to officers and security. A ship actually is a dangerous place, that's why we have mandatory muster drills. All we need is a person worse for booze at one of those 'unlikely' events and we are all at risk.

Fully agree.

I wonder if I should ask.

I do not want to spend an hour in my car driving from MCO to Port Canaveral, can I drive at 140 MPH to get there quicker, I know they say the speed limit is less but can I get around it? :beach::drinking1

Worst analogy ever

You need to admit that DCL sells alcohol and lots of it onboard. I won't get you to admit that they still allow people to get drunk off their sales, but you need to admit that they are selling a lot of alcohol.

Well, actually, it's 2 bottles of wine EACH at embarkation and ports of call, so the total for two adults would be 20 bottles of wine or 60 cans of beer (a little less than 3 cases).

LOL Oops. Good catch. I got hung up on the 2s....2 people x 2 bottles x 5 ports of call.....yeah 20 bottles of wine.

If I want to get drunk on a ship I can get drunk. I don't need to bring alcohol on to do it. I'm a light weight when it comes to alcohol so it wouldn't even cost me that much. If I took one of Disney's mixology classes I would probably be passed out in my own vomit before the class ended.

Your argument is really ridiculous. We buy drinks on the ship. We bring some of our own. We don't get drunk. The only way to stop people from getting drunk is to stop serving alcohol. Disney's not going to do that because it's a big money maker. I feel sorry for people that really believe Disney is concerned about their well being. Disney is only concerned about taking the money out of your wallet.

How many 7 night cruises have 4 ports of call plus castaway cay?

And Grand Cayman has rules about alcohol being sent back to the ship instead of carrying it so that port would be out.

I have a 5 night cruise with stops in Cozumel and Castaway Cay. So I could bring on a total of 12 beers for a 5 night cruise (if I were a beer drinker). Yeah, that doesn't seem worth it.

When you say "a lot of alcohol" it's kind of hard to argue as that is pretty nebulas. Our last cruise was on RCCL and they sell a lot more alcohol than DCL. There must of been 15 aldult only bars on that ship! And every night there were tons of people out clubbing and drinking. There is some of that on DCL too but not nearly as much. It's kinda hard to go out drinking when you are having to take care of children. Personally, I didn't drink at all from time my oldest child was about 4 till the time my youngest child was 18 and out of school.

Sigh... People refused to follow the old policy by bringing their own beverages to the pool deck, MDRs, and I've heard, even into the adult lounges. Lo and behold, DCL tightened the restrictions. So if people break the new rule by trying to smuggling on alcohol, the next step will be taking away the right to bring on the limited amount of wine and beer, or stopping bottled non-alcoholic beverages like another cruise line did. I believe that was Carnival, correct? So those that refuse to abide by the rules end up ruining it for everyone.

That is not the reason the change happened. People have been bringing alcohol on deck since DCL is opened this is purely a financial decision. I should know I have been bring my beer on deck for over 10 cruises

Since having kids my hair has gone grey and my alcohol consumption has increased. I thought there was a direct correlation for all parents!

You got to be joking. If someone wants to get drunk, Disney is more than willing to make this happen, just pay them!!!

And the drinks of the day are for sale and being pushed on us well before the muster drill. That's a joke!

You can make this argument about any bar. They are in business to sell drinks and take your money......but bars know they will be sued if they continue to serve your when you are stupid drunk. Even if you are not driving they will cut you off. There have been incidents on cruise ships where people got drunk and 'fell' overboard. If this happened to one of my family members I gaurentee I will sue the cruise line! They have a responsibilty for the safety of passengers and they have an obligation to not serve someone alcohol who is drunk.

Of course they have an obligation. Do they enforce that? heck no!

What about the 2 for 1 specials on Castaway??? The holier than thou attitude is getting really old.

My wife doesnt drink, but, she has no problem me bringing on a case of beer (used to atleast). I brought my Corona light (Yeah I know, not a beer) everywhere. I was never question, honestly I didnt know I couldnt. Brought it on deck and shuffle board. If anyone would have questioned my I would have apologized, probably then used a cup.

The argument that this is a family cruise is insane. DISNEY IS SELLING ALCOHOL PACKAGES. If you dont want to drink dont! But why are you defending Disney from making more money?

This new policy will NOT stop people from getting hammered.

BTW the only time I have been drunk on DCL was after a tequila tasting class that I paid Disney for!

One of my friends who I travel/cruise with frequently doesn't drink at all. She has no problem with others drinking. She even paid to go to a private mixology class for our group of friends to enjoy the activity even though she doesn't drink. We had at least 4 ladies in our group who joined but don't drink. At the end of the mixology the bartenders made sure to do a series of non-alocoholic drinks for them which we all thought was so fabulous. Last year on our girls getaway between drinks on the beach, the sun, then a couple glasses of wine on a friend's verandah I found myself quite drunk. Not sloppy drunk. Not out of control drunk. But whoooaaaaa was I aware that I had hit a wall. I was so afraid of offending my friend who was also my roommate! I have so much respect for her and never would want to do that! So I gathered my wits while I was in the shower and worked really hard at dressing for dinner without letting on my condition. And drinking looooots of water. LOL! At the end of the night as we were drifting off to sleep we were chatting about the day. I told her how really messed up I got and I had been so worried I'd offend her. She was so surprised! She said she literally had NO idea. I think maybe as a non-drinker her idea of what a really drunk person would look like is rather skewed by movies or by people who are beyond being able to get themselves together and function. She really laughed....said I must be a champ at hiding it. LOL! Nah. A drunk person doesn't always fall all over or slur their speech. Some can manage to function rather well.

So when I see people all "I don't want to be around drunks. I don't drink." How do they really know who's drunk and who's not????

I hear you. I'm not sure why they would care either way as long as the discussion remains civil. "Civil" in a forum these days is cringe-worthy however.

They care because they get "perks" from Disney because they are the largest Disney Community Forum on the internet. Disney might not be so "giving of perks" to a forum that openly allows their members to discuss ways to violate Disney policies.

Whooahhh hold the boat!!!
I can only get "sloshed" by brining 6 cans on the ship? Eww gross I much prefer the bottle of beer and I highly doubt they are serving Twisted Tea on board. I do not drink wine. And despite a lovely smuggling video I will not have my rum with me! What the heck is wrong with this picture! Lol

To be fair to the boards, the only thing they usually care about is anything that goes against their business model, and basic civility.
I agree with this except the basic civility. The mods expect puppy dogs and rainbows.

Well, unless you have a zillion posts. Then you can be short, gruff, snarky, etc to your heart's content.

I totally agree this is the real reason. Passengers would not follow the rules and Disney was watching and most likely reading the forums, where so many were bragging how they did what they wanted.

So for the folks who stated that if DCL didn't liked them fluting the rules they would stop it..........well........they stopped it.

Sad but quite true!
