Does Universal allow you to carry in small snacks and outside drinks like Disney does?

Thanks,
Debbie

Just remember that you can't take bags on most rides, so you'll waste time having to lock it up. Have fun!

Very good point. Thanks. We just had a late lunch one day at mythos so I was thinking sandwiches but in reality I really hate dealing with that stuff and would rather just get snacks in the park for everyone. This does bring me to another question.

We always walk around Disney with a backpack. Should we not plan that for Universal?

as long as you don't have any glass bottles or containers, you will be fine for the snacks/bev you bring into the park.

We didn't take anything that we couldn't fit in cargo shorts. I had my CC, tickets, phone & some cash & that was it. It was me, DH & DD (teenager), so we don't have little one's. It was so liberating. We do the same when we go to WDW now, too.

Plus, if you stay onsite, you can always run back to the hotel if you need something. I can't wait for our next trip!

That does sound liberating. Our girls are 10 and 7. we don't absolutely have to have backpacks but I worry about the water rides and our stuff getting wet and we do like to have ponchos also.

That's why you should always bring a few zip lock bags too.

Here's how we got around that. We double bagged our tickets/CC's in ziplocks, kept our phones at the hotel (we stayed at HRH). We did all the water rides on one morning, wore our crocs/flip flops (so they'd dry quickly) and when we were done, went to the hotel & went swimming. This way, we got drenched all in one day.

The poor family that was on Bluto's ride with us had on socks & sneakers & they got drenched. I can't imagine trying to walk in wet socks and sneakers all day.

Hmmmm.... I think we might try to do our best without a backpack at Universal IOA. Is it that important not to have one at the studios?

We are not staying on site and I hate getting wet at theme parks so we are thinking about the ccs, cash and tickets in one ziploc and camera in another. I don't even know how not to bring my cell phone. It feels like it has been surgically inserted into my skin these days.

I'm thinking wet rides might just be towards the end of the day before we head back to the condo. see that is another thing. normally I would have ponchos to wear on wet rides, which of course go in the backpack. Decisions, decisions.

rent one of the family size lockers that are in the front of the park for your backpack and certain items.

with those lockers, you can open them and lock them back up as many times needed for the day.
you can be 'hands free' for most of the rides then.

i see many put change of clothes in the lockers.
after a wet/water ride, you'll be prepared then.

i always have my cell phone in a zip lock baggie where ever i go on vacation.
in case of rain, i won't have a fit.............

That's what I did on the one day that I had a larger bag. I think it cost $8 for the whole day, and I could access it any time I wanted. A pretty good sized bag fit inside. I had 2-park tickets, so I rented the locker at IOA (it was open later) and even though I went back and forth between parks, I just left my stuff there and got it all at the end of the day. It was convenient because I wasn't staying on site.

I didn't change after the water rides, but it was a hot day and I dried off walking from Ripsaw Falls to WWoHP. It was nice to know I did have a towel and some dry clothes waiting for me, just in case.

The rest of the time I had a small bag and a refill cup, I just used the free ride lockers, and it was not really a bother - but I was by myself during a low crowd time, and used single rider lines a lot of the time. It would probably be more of a hassle with a group.

Thanks, I do think this is what we will do on our USIOA day. We will bring an extra set of clothes and a couple of towels. I am not a fan of walking around in wet clothes. Might even pack in some flip flops so our tennis shoes don't get all wet. I'm hoping with the lower crowd levels what we can do is ride all the other rides and then around 4 p.m. or so hit the water rides and just ride those till we go home. This is, of course, if it isn't too cold to get wet. You never know in January.
