We are going to Playa Mia water park when we are in Cozumel. Will have 4 kids with us.just doing the beach package. Kids will have water bottles, they like water more than soda. What kind of snacks did you bring for you kids to munch on while at the beach? Plan on going to the store the night before the cruise.

Did you book Playa Mia through DCL? We did this back in 2015 and it included a lunch buffet. We had a big breakfast in Cabanas and that pretty much sustained the kids till lunch. I did take some small boxes of cereal for them to snack on from Cabanas but I know we didn’t need it. Lunch at Playa Mia was not that great. The kids had some chips and rice. I didn’t care for the food. I remember we hit the grill on deck when we returned to the ship. But no one was starving at least.

Anything you bring off the ship needs to be pre packaged and unopened.
Some ports don’t allow any food at all.
This! As much as we were told not to bring fresh fruit into Cozumel, I was amazed at the amount of apples and bananas that people still brought off the ship. There was a bin by the security in the port that was filled with fruit!

I hadn't thought about doing that, that's s great idea. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of Mexican food, so slightly worried I will go hungry during excursions.

How are Cozumel and Grand Cayman, do you know? We only have two stops as double dip at CC and will return to ship for food. But would be good to know there are some things we could take ashore. Would a packet of chips be okay, if bought at Walmart prior to boarding, as long as packets are sealed?

We also bring the boxes of cereals as mentioned. I also bring a couple packaged and sealed snacks from home. We are usually stuffed from breakfast and don't need to eat but the kids don't eat as much at breakfast and need the snacks. Loved Playa Mia when went a couple years ago but the food was horrible.

Thats a great excursion for kids, our grandkids played the entire day on the pirate ship.
We usually grab some cereal boxes and a couple small bags of chips for them in case.

I would get some chips from the grill the day before and pack those. Individual size and sealed.
Trust me- food really wasn’t even that Mexican at Playa Mia. I know food is subjective but it really wasn’t that good. Played it safe with some nacho chips and rice. Playa Mia was so much fun with activities in the pool and beach for kids. I would definitely do it again if we went there.

Same thing with grand cayman - we went to seven mile beach and was still full from breakfast. Ate as soon as we got back on ship.

We plan to do similar, but we are snorkling on one of them, so sure we will get peckish. We are bringing bottled water on board at check in, with carry on, can we take those ashore too, as long as tops are sealed?

Yes definitely take some bottled water! We found a lot of things on Grand Cayman to be a little pricey so if you have room in your day bags, bring what you can.

Excellent! We will load up. I think at this rate we will have three wheelie suitcases carry on and all full with water :rotfl:

None of the ports should be allowing fruit from the ship. Fruit is a weird thing from a customs perspective.

You can grab the single serve bags of chips from Cabanas. And the little box/bowl things of cereal from there, too. You can also order Uncrustables from room service prior to your excursion - just specify they need to still be in their wrappers.
If I remember correctly, Cabanas "closes at 2" for lunch, but they didn't really start taking the food away until 2:30 (if you stop by for a late lunch when you returned to the ship).

We always bring snacks on a cruise (cookies, chocolate). That along with chips and cereal boxes are usually enough. We never rush back to the ship just to make lunch - many times we eat in port so it's nice to have a little something in case we have a late lunch.

(FWIW, we like little bags of trail mix. The Target Archer Farms brand is good; Kirkland Signature/Costco also do a pretty excellent single-serving size that comes in boxes of 28. You have to like trail mix, but we do, so there is that. CLIF Bars also work out pretty well.)

We are doing the beach stuff only. My grandkids ont eat enough to justify the cost of the buffet. Will bring bottle water. Will do the uncrustables, cheese and chips. That should hold them for awhile.

we always bring water and a bag of these chips on every cruise as they come in handy for excursions, embarkation and debarkation day

Cozumel is one of those ports. We’ve been there twice and both times, a dog was sniffing every bag looking for food. We were told by our Concierge host that even prepackaged food is not allowed off the ship there.
