I always seem to smell things on rides that DH doesn't. So someone tell me I am not just crazy. Who else smells these things? And what smells am I missing?

Monsters, Inc. - Harryhausen's smells like ginger.

RSR - when you enter the building and narrowly avoid Mac, smells like burning rubber/engine smell.

OK this one I might be crazy but I could swear that I smelled candles in the holiday version of IASW (of course, in the room with all the candles).

Soarin' - pine trees during the rafting scene, orange over the orange groves, sea water over the ocean.

A Bug's Life - doesn't the stink bug usually smell bad? This past trip there was the foggy effect but no smell! :confused3

Monsters Inc - when you go through the locker room, it smells like deodorant.

Heimlich's Chew Chew Train - watermelon and animal crackers

RSR - When you go through the paint booth that spray paint smell is very realistic. It makes you wonder what chemical they are actually spraying on you.

My favorite overall Disney ride smell is actually at Epcot on Spaceship Earth where you go through the burned down ancient ruins. For some reason I love that burnt wood smell.

Ooh, I hadn't noticed the smell in the locker room in Monsters. I agree about the paint smell in RSR - it really smells like you're getting painted!

I haven't been on RSR or IASW Holiday yet, but a big yes to everything else! :thumbsup2

What about over by Grizzly River Rapids, it seems to smell like a pine forest around the ride. There are pine trees over there, but I wonder if they pipe some extra smell in there?

Wow, he can't smell any of these? The smells are what make Soarin in MHO.:snooty: Love it, especially the Orange groves.

My kids love the ginger smell in Monsters Inc now that they know what ginger and sushi are!

Haven't been on RSR, i'll keep my nose open :thumbsup2

I have no problems smelling those smells. LOL Nor does anyone else in my family. :) You aren't crazy.

I have noticed that sometimes the smells are there, and others they are not. This last trip to Disneyland is the first time I noticed the smell of ginger during the Harry Hausen restaurant scene in Monsters Inc. The smells in Soarin' also seem to be inconsistent also.

I read once that women have a much higher sensitivity to smells than men. They can smell a lot of things men can't. Or so I read!

I haven't smelled any of those!! My sense of smell is terrible. (As a nurse I have been grateful for this.)

I've smelled all of those and I think area of the park has its own unique smell... But that's just me lol. I put smells with memories.

In those tight knit lines in Fantasy Land, you get all sorts of interesting smells while waiting in line.

Don't forget the water smell in PotC and Splash

The water smell of POTC is my favorite smell in the whole park. DH thinks I'm nuts, but there is something about that smell...

OP, You are not nuts. Well, I don't know about the candle smell at HM one, but the rest, you are correct.

I never knew there were scents tied with the rides. Another thing to be looking for on our trip :)

OP, your husband needs to get his senses checked lol. Especially if he hasn't noticed the oranges and pine trees on Soarin'

This smell has been sadly lacking in recent visits. :(
As you walk down Main Street, past the candy shop, take a minute and see what you can smell. They pipe the smell of vanilla onto the street by the shop. :)

Completely agree! I went in July for the first time since I was a kid (6 and 11 before) but that water smell was exactly as I remembered it! So comforting! It's that kind of chlorinated but not really like a pool kind of smell... I remember even smelling it a bit (or a smell very similar to it) entering the Adventureland area and in the queue of Indy. Definitely my favourite DL smell too! :)
