Small disappointments

Darth Vader cupcake replaced my favorite cupcake in the whole world, (yes, the whole real world as in planet Earth) the ganuchy, fudgy, peanut-buttery lusciousness of the Chocolate & Peanut Butter cupcake from Starring Rolls. All other cupcakes pale in comparison for me and that includes the replacement. The SR CM offered me a butterfinger one instead. Poor girl really didn't deserve the eye roll I gave her. Just not the same.

We were pretty bummed about the Build Your Own Mr. Potato Head in DS. We had seen all these cool WDW exclusive pieces like a mickey bar, mickey balloon, turkey leg, ect. None of these were available and the selection was very limited. The first night we went they only had left arms for the storm trooper outfit :/ and there were no complete outfits at all :(

Also, it was frustrating that we got to HS at RD, planning to do RNR, but it was down. We did ToT instead, but we already had a fp for it and were not able to switch it for RNR. It was really irritating because we chose the single rider line once it opened back up, which we still waited almost an hour. Then the people from regular standby who I rode with said they only waited a little over half an hour. Whoever was working the line should have realized how slow the single rider line was moving and let some of us go, especially since when there were 2 seats they pulled from the regular line instead of single. I was pretty annoyed at the whole situation. It doesn't seem like a lot but it really threw off our game plan for the whole day.

Yes, for some reason RnR single rider is s-l-o-w, I've waited for almost the same amount as standby, and once was literally next up and waited 10 minutes. Got super aggravated, but what can you do? Good thing they serve beer in DHS!

Oh! We have done this more than once. You'd think we'd learn. Now I usually send a text with the parking info to dh so we both don't forget.

We take a picture of the section and location with our phone. This way we will not forget

That BTMRR will be closed for our trip.
And the Treehouse is closed for our trip
And IASMW may or may not be closed for part of our trip (don't know what the latest rumor is).
And Dinosaur will be closed for our trip.
And Muppets will be closed for all but the last day of our trip.
And ROL probably won't be ready for our trip.
And there's going to be a new Muppets Pizza place, but it won't open until after our trip.
This is pretty much my disappointment list for my trip as well , I was so hoping to do everything but every time I go things always seem to be refurbishing/close:sad1:

I have a pet peeve: how come some effects on an attraction seem to be chronically broken? The Yeti is the worst offender, but there are also very simple effects that they just can't seem to fix. On Radiator Springs Racers at DLR, the tipping tractors have been problematic for years.

Some things seem odd that they are broken. I get the yeti and how complex that is to fix but there is just a lot of things that seem like overnight that could repair them in a more timely manor. I don't really get why more and more things seem to wait for a longer multi-week/month refurb.

That's hysterical. It happened to my kids last summer. We're a family of 5, so we do 2, 2 and 1. My now 12 year old likes to have his own car, so my 8 year old twins rode together. One of them picked Mandarin by accident and we laughed our rear ends off.

That's an option?! How did I miss that?:confused3 OMG. My kids would LOVE that! We sometimes have to watch entire dvds in French because for some reason they just love listening to the movies in another language. So thanks for that ride-altering idea!!!:thumbsup2

My kids would love this too. I catch them watching YouTube videos in foreign languages all the time.

Small disappointments: When we JUST got there and my kids can't handle the park anymore and we end up back at the resort (though, not TERRIBLE in the grand scheme of things...it is still a Disney Resort!.:yay:)

I guess I'm sort of disappointed for my son that Dinosaur won't be open while we are there this year too, but there are so many rides we have never been on that it won't be that big of a deal. I'm ever so slightly disappointed about Muppets 3D being down too.

MK hours that are still set for 10. But that isn't a minor disappointment...that is kind of major for us right now. We are night-time park goers.

When you really hope to get early check in but you get the "room is not quite ready" text. Waiting hours by the pool or in your car.

When you realize the bus you want to catch JUST left.

When your significant other pulls a muscle in their back right before the trip.

When you book Raglan Road solely to watch the entertainment and they throw you in the back room.

When you don't realize a restaurant you just ate at accepts one of the discount cards you hold. (Doh!)

When you go back to Dawa bar promptly at 10am to get the Dawa Bloody Mary you've been craving and they open 7 minutes late, don't have the right garnishes available (prosciutto and olives), and forget key ingredients (horseradish mixture).

When you wait 20 minutes in a fp+ line. (Kali)

When you bust your butt to make it to the MK opening show and realize they opened the park 15 minutes early.

Those are some I can think of. I still love this place!<3<3<3

It's kind of dumb, but I am always kind of let down when I use a Fastpass and then it makes no difference - either because the merge is too far forward to matter, or (even worse) because there isn't enough of a line to make the Fastpass necessary. I want my Fastpass to mean something, darn it!

Last week my husband and I were at the MK on Tuesday. We were using Fastpass after Fastpass, using the app, and I was excited when one for SDMT opened up at 9:15. We walked over just as the fireworks were ending, and went through the Fastpass line...we got to the loading area and we were literally the only people there. We could have walked straight through the queue. So disappointing. (I'll note that it had rained for about five hours straight at that point and the park had really emptied out.)

When you realize the bus you want to catch JUST left.

Oh, yeah, that one is a bummer. Especially when the next three buses are all going the same place for some reason, so each time a bus comes the whole family jumps up: THIS IS IT!!! It HAS to be! ....uh, nope.

You are going the same time as us. I was slightly disappointed about BTMRR, but it wasn't TOO terrible. Then all the other hits start rolling in. And my MUPPETS. Closed only for one week, but the one week that we are there :(

Mr. Potato Head missing from the TSMM queue! I had "one potato, two potato, three potato, four" running through my head in anticipation for the whole walk from the DHS entrance...
What?! Is he gone permanently??

That's the worst, but it can be avoided, for the most part. Check refurb schedules in advance when planning your trip. The schedule is listed at MousePlanet, and on Disney's site.
That is true, but lots of them are announced after plans have been made. The only ride that was listed as down during my dates was BTMRR. Now Dinosaur and Muppets have been added. No real way around this happening though.

That my beloved jalapeno cream cheese pretzel is gone
THIS. because I have never gotten one and this year I was determined not to miss it! :(

No!!!! That was my favorite cupcake too! I thought I had read somewhere that the Vader cupcake was still the same though, with a chocolate Vader head on top? That must not be correct :(

Several people have mentioned seeing people being mean to each other, and I do hate seeing frustrated parents yelling at their kids, it makes me sad. The last trip we took, I was in the middle of this, as my husband (now EX!) was just being his usual grouchy self, complaining, being short with all of us, making ALL OF US stop at every single smoke pit we came across and wait on him to smoke. He ended up going back to the room early almost every day and tried to make the kids go back with him once or twice. We still had a great trip but it could have been better without all that stress. I was a Disboards member then too and was so excited before the trip to come back and do a Dining Report or Trip Report but I was too depressed after. I never even came back to the boards until I started planning this next trip.

When you get a free upgrade to a suite in the main building at the GF (we had booked a room in the RPC) only to end up sleeping on the floor in the living room of said suite because the bedroom floor got soaked when a drain in the bathtub leaked and the hotel was full. Funny now, not so much then!

Another example: some of the AAs on the riverboat in Splash Mountain always seem to be down. Don't they close that ride for part of winter every year? Aren't they supposed to fix stuff when the ride is down?

That line used to be a breeze. I think they deliberately slowed it down because too many people took it, then still insisted on riding together. The jerks always ruin it for everyone else.

Next time, I think we'll get that fourth FP+ for RnR.

Haha. We went to Dawa Bar at opening on our last trip really excited about the specialty bloody marys, only to be told that they didn't have any of the ingredients and they could only offer us a generic house Bloody Mary.

I feel you there!

TE="Sona99, post: 55830529, member: 570116"]Not everything can go as planned ... what are your small disappointments?

When you take the time to coordinate everyone's outfits for the week on the off chance you get a good family picture and your husband wears the wrong outfit!

That's not a small disappointment. Were you able to get it remade with the horseradish??
