Slumdog Millionaire

I loved this movie and saw that it was coming on tonight on HBO. What I found interesting was that it was listed as a comedy. There were some less serious scenes, I never thought of it as a comedy:confused3 But then again, it has been a while since I have seen it.

This movie was totally original and was not anything like I expected-great, sad, horrifying, wonderful, shocking

Ironically, I saw this movie on the plane home from a business trip to India in March. I was in Pune, which is about 100 miles east of Mumbai. The scenes of poverty were very similiar to what I had seen. It was very sad to see in person. I'm glad I saw the movie on the way home instead of the way there. I experienced 2 worlds there. My hotel (LeMeridian) was very opulant (but you did have to go through a metal detector and bag search at the entrance). The office was simliar to an office here, in a beautiful glass building office park (security gated). But in between was definitely a different world. The area close to the hotel was a shopping area, dirty but not too bad. But beyond that was the slums. The children begging in the streets was heartbreaking.
