slumber party activites?

I don't know a 10 year old girl that doesn't like High School Musical. My DD has a fun HSM interactive DVD game that she loves to play with when friends are over. That would entertain them for a while. Also, if you have Dance Dance Revolution, the girls all love that.

I love the sundae bar idea. I could see the girls having a blast with that one. I'd shy away from letting them bake cookies and cupcakes -- too messy and you'd get stuck with the clean up!

The last large group slumber party my DD went to was almost an all-nighter. I think they said they stayed up until 5:00am!

:rotfl: :rotfl: My DD said that at hers, when the girls saw the sun coming up, they decided they had better get to sleep!!

Some more ideas..............

Sleeping bag game...one girl is "it" and leaves the room. The others all get into a sleeping bag (not theirs). the girl who is it tries to guess who is who. Too funny.

We also decorated pillow cases...the girls enjoyed this!

My dd has an American Girl book about sleepovers...games, crafts, etc that she loves to use when planning the party.!

DD6 had 3 of her 5-6 yr old friends over for a sleepover and we had pizza for supper, and LOTS of snacks!! I made sure we had plenty of juice on had. The next morning they all wanted Princess Cereal, so that was EASY!!

Activities: they made pillowcases with fabric paint, played games, watched movies and played in the playhouse.

I put them in the bed at 9 AM..the last time I looked at the clock and could still hear them talking it was 1:30 AM!!! THEY DON'T SLEEP...They got up at 7 AM...UGHHH

I needed a vacation after that sleepover..lol

GOOD LUCK TO YOU with 10 girls!!!:scared1:

I bought Cheese Pizza @ Costco...which we ate when they arrived...
Then they gave each other makeovers -- hair, face & nails...
They made picture frames...they had tons of fun [I had gotten them at the dollar spot at Target]...
They did High School Musical Karaoke and videotaped each other....then watched the videos and cracked up...
We made puppy chow together...
Presents & Cake...
They ate the puppy chow while watching High School Musical...at 10:30 or 11:00 pm...most were asleep before movie ended...
I had pre-made baked french toast and eggs. So I popped them in the oven while they played...they woke at 6:30...breakfast around 7:30...
They changed and packed up...
They made bracelets, and played 20 questions...pick up was 11:00 am...
it was very smooth.

can I have the recipie?? :teeth:

My 14 yr old DD loves to play games. The girls all really seemed to enjoy this one. Melt a bunch of different chocolate candy bars on plates, the girls then had to try and figure out what they were.

Other games they like are scene it, balloon games and various dance games.

I usually do not put in a movie until I am ready to have them go to bed, usually about midnight I put in a movie, turn off all the lights and hve them get into sleeping bags, by the time the movie is over most of them are asleep.

Oh we also have them drink water bottles that way they can carry them around the house and we do not have to worry about any accidents. We keep the soda or juice to the kitchen when they are eating.

excellent ideas everyone!

Ok, now to get to the dollar store and see what goodies I can find!

Thank goodness I still have 2 weeks, it's -18 outside right now :cold:

Box Chex Cereal
Bag Chocolate Chips
1 Cup Peanut Butter
1/2 Cup Butter
2 Cups Confectioner's Sugar
Large Paper Bag [grocery sack]
Optional
Pretzels
M&Ms
other favorite candy

This serves 6-8...you might double just because! ;o)

Melt chocolate chips, butter & peanut butter over medium heat. Stir to blend.

Pour over the Chex and optional ingredients in a large bowl. Pour in the large bag with the sugar and shake shake shake...
Mmm...

I did one like this where we made hair accessories. You can get cheap ribbon on clearance, and either barrette backs or hair combs. A hot glue gun and a little craft wire can make some pretty amazing creations. I had gotten the klutz book on hair wraps, and I wrapped each girls hair. It was pretty easy to do.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is smores. They have indoor smores makers that are fairly cheap. We used one a lot for girl scout sleep overs. I've definitely done the make your own pizza and build a sundae. One warning on the pizza. It's easy to forget which pizza is whose. Put a piece of foil down on the cookie sheet, then mark their name on the foil with a sharpie before putting it in the oven. No mix-ups!

I used to have sleep over parties every year for my birthday and the biggest hit was the make-your-own-ice cream-sundae bar that we did. We'd get 2 or 3 types of ice cream, frozen strawberries & pineapple topping, hot fudge, jimmies, coconut, cherries, whipped cream. We had so much fun making and of course eating them.

For DD 9th birthday in November we had a sleepover. I borrowed movies from the library: High School Musical, Cheetah girls, etc. Also borrowed some CD's from there as well. That kept them plenty busy watching, singing and dancing. They also listed to Radio Disney--if that's available in your area.

We did make-your own Pizzas for dinner and had cake, popcorn and snacks later. I bought pillowcases and fabric markers and they decorated those. I had plenty of extra pillows, so then the girls got to use their pillows when they went to bed. (Yes, mine went to bed--LOL)

In the morning I made pancakes and scrambled eggs...that was a big hit.

My daughter just went to another sleepover where they made hair pretties out of hair elastics and strips of fabric. I've also seen lots of sleepover craft ideas on familyfun.com...they had some neat ideas for sleep masks and slippers. Last summer my daughter did the balloon flip-flops craft from there and liked it.

Have a great time!

IMHO if you start it at 6:00 pm, parents will think that dinner is included. Either spring for some pizza's, or make it a 7:00pm start time.

I second this...6pm is the dinner hour!

We usually do some games like the balloon stomp were each girl ties a balloon to their ankle using ribbon or string (don't tie it too close), then when the signal is given, they try to pop each other's balloons. Last person with a balloon still intact wins a small prize.

We also like to do the mummy game where the group is divided into teams and given a roll of toilet paper. One person gets wrapped from head to toe by the other team members. That fastest team to use up the entire roll is the winner.

Don't forget about the old standby: Musical chairs. This is always fast paced and lots of fun.

Plus, you don't have to spend a lot on the prizes: get candy bars, or maybe the nail polish you were already planning on using.

We had a party back in Oct for 8 girls.

We made pizzas w/ the bagels, sauce, cheese and pepperoni and had salads.

When each girl arrived--I had them take a white tee shirt--put the rubber bands on and drop in the sink to tie die them.

Then we went to the living room and played getting to know you games like Little Sally Walker--Limbo--and then made up Diva Nicknames for the night.

Then we made our pizzas and ate.

During all this--I tie died the shirts--washed and dryed them.

We all sat down w/ the tee shirt paints and painted designs for our "fashion show" later in the evening.

After that--the girls sat down and made 8 friendship pins (out of beads and safety pins) to trade to remember their friends they made that night.

Afterwards---we put make up at one station, hair things at another--and nail polish at another. SO they went around and got prettied up for the fashion show.

I took a couple of Red Plastic table clothes and made a red runway walk. The shirts didnt completey dry yet--so I took out a bunch of dd's dresses and they all picked some out. We got out the disco ball and turned Radio Disney on and did a run way walk while I video taped it. Then they all came out and "disco'd" the night away. I had went to the dollar tree (but you can also do this online) and made out "Academy Awards"--each girl one a category--like Best Diva Pose--Best Dressed---Greatest Hair--Etc. And we read them off like we were at the Academy Awards and they came back up the Red Runway.

After the dancing ended. We settled in and watched Parent Trap, Cheetah girls and ate popcorn. We had sleeping bags everywhere and everyone dropped off pretty quickly.

The next morning--I made monkey bread w/ the help of the girls and they played until their parents came.

It went over well and all the girls talked about it at school and still ask when the next sleep over will be!

Good luck~~its really ALOT of fun and a great experience to bond w/ your girl and her friends. Take lots of pics and be prepared for screaming and giggling all night!!

**Also, I spent under $40 for everything. I had decorated by taking white poster board and making stars-used the spray adhesive and glued glitter all over them and hung them from the ceiling w/ fish wire. We printed out pics of Hannah Montana, Cheetah Girls, etc and mounted them on either hot pink or black poster boards and glittered around them as well and had them hung all over. We took hot pink and black streamers and silver balloons.

Awesome ideas posted. (saving for DD's sleepovers)

-fashion show(ask girls to bring funky outfits or let them raid your closet~ not good/fancy clothes

-spa time...footsoak, mani/pedicures, facial maskes, etc

-plain white t-shirts and pale colored pillow cases...........make transfers for them, on computer using iron transfer paper and have a theme or free style....used fabric markers (Walmart, better than the squeeze paints). They can sign each others t-shirts and pillow case. Doing this early enough they can wear them and use their pillow cases.

-pretzels dipped in melted chocolate chips and then into sprinkles (save some as party favors

-decorate your own cupcake (instead of birthday cake)

- play game..."How well do you know Katie". Giving each girl a paper, using multiple choice questions ask things about your daughter....her fav color, her pet's name, where was she born, name of cousin, favorite shape, etc.

- good ole' fashion charades....using updated ideas. High School Musical songs, cellphone, etc

-movies.....maybe mix some old ones with newer ones.....Cinderella, Pollyanna, old Parent Trap

-bingo

I second DDR if you have it. My DD10 and her friends are obsessed with this game! We have the Extreme2 version and 2 mats so kids can compete with each other, but it also works taking turns with one mat.

a game suggestion with the nail polish

each girl gets a bottle of polish. Play music as they sit in a circle. Pass the bottles of polish around the circle until the music stops. Paint 1 toe nail or fingernail. Close the bottle and when the music starts - start passing! repeat until there are no more nails to paint :lmao: My daughters ( i have 3 ages 12, 13, & 15 ) love to do this with their friends.

Speaking of sleepovers... my girls each get one for their 13th birthday.. so guess what i will be doing sometime around april 13th!:scared1:

1 more note : we make our mini pizzas on english muffins. I suggest though that you toast them first before putting on the sauce.

My DD likes doing Perler Beads at her parties. You know the beads that you make pictures with and then you iron them, some people call them Fuse Beads. They are really cheap and not messy. The girls make their designs and then I iron them for them. I also buy a roll of self sticking magnets to put on the backs. Then they can take them to school and decorate their lockers with them.

I also like the idea of letting the girls dress up silly and taking their pictures and making picture frames.

When 1DS turned 10 we had a slumber party and one of the things we did was: have all of the boys pick a few of their favorite songs and then burned them all on a CD (and made them all a copy). 3 years later the boys still like listening to what they liked 3 years ago. It is kinda funny because they can tell you who picked what songs by what style it is. We also made labels that said something like "Alex's Birthday Bash 2004" and then listed all of the boys names on it.

I like this idea! We have tons of music for the kids ipods so we'll have to do that!

This would be a practically free activity, have the cds and the music. All I have to do is spend the time ripping them. :thumbsup2
