I’m a city person and I love cities - one day I will visit NYC and I’m sure I will love it too. :goodvibes

Been there a couple times. Honestly, I liked parts of it and disliked others. Love visiting the NYC area in general, though.

I went on a work trip once. It was fine I guess, but I didn't really get to do anything I would want to do. That said, New York City in general is not my kind of place and I didn't like that tirp. The place we went to on Times Square though was pretty good though - one of the highlights of that venture. I did NOT get to go into the Nintendo store though, which is too bad.

I’ve been once. I didn’t vote on like/dislike because I was indifferent. Just like the city as a whole. I was ok with the visit, but have no desire to go back. Too crowded for me. If someone I was with really wanted to I would, but I’m not going to plan on going back.

We've been several times as DW loves Broadway shows, also a big Stephen Colbert fan. We have tickets for his show in September, now need to book hotel and 1 or 2 shows. Times Square itself I'm not a fan of, just too many people!

Times Square has always been seedy. Was cleaned up in late 90s and now it's back to a mess.

I don't think it's anything special. Have been through or in the area many times. It's a tourist trap with chain restaurants, and of course, people trying to get your money via photos like Naked Cowboy. In the last decade they have people dressed as Elmo and things like that, but it's the wild west for stuff like that. It's not regulated or condoned by anyone. It's just a stranger trying to get money. Never go near them.

In the current conditions, we have decided not to go into the city for the foreseeable future. Last time was right before we were alerted to covid, late 2019. A shame because we are not far away.

Many times. I’d estimate about 50. Yes, I enjoy the schlocky and tacky and seedy and even sleaze of it.

As someone mentioned, it was pretty bad up until the late 90s when it became “Disneyized.” But still fun to walk around for a while.

My first visit was when I was about 7. My family stayed at a hotel several blocks from the area. It was quite an eye-opener for a good Catholic school girl, with the porn shops and X-rated movie theaters. :scared1:

It may have colored my whole life.

I went once and didn’t like it. I only go into the city to my cancer surgeon and thankfully that was 5 years ago.

Been there a lot of times cause I grew up in nyc and went to college nearby as well. Been to many broadway shows. Times Square was much better once it got cleaned up in the 90s. Did the ball drop in 1998. That wasn’t worth it. Could care less about visiting again.

I love Times Square!! When in high school DD took a couple of 2-week long training courses with the Rockettes but there was no housing provided, so I went along with her. I LOVE NYC!!! I am a city mouse, and the busier the better! In addition to accompanying DD, I've been to NYC three other times, and I always stay as close to Times Square as I can- or can afford, hahaha!

I think I've been 2x. It was cool to see it but obviously so crowded. Definitely not on my "must do" list again.

Once they got rid of the pornography and peep shows I had no need to return. 🤣 I live 13 driving miles away and haven’t been in years.

Times Square itself is no major attraction for me, but I like it well enough. It is touristy but there are some bright spots, and the energy/vibe is fun. DD14 is a theatre kid so we end up in that area any time we're in NYC because we really only go for Broadway, and I enjoy being in the center of all the noise and lights when we're there.

Pizza was the other thing I was completely unimpressed with. I had high expectations of the pizza, couldn't wait to get a hold of a slice. Got it and... meh, it's just like mall pizza at home. That's not to say it isn't fantastic because I have 2 pizza shops in 2 different malls that I love, but that's all the NY slice was, the Italian pizza at the mall. It was great pizza, but not the mind blowing experience that I was expecting.

I love NY Pizza- I went to Chicago and after hearing the raving about chicago pizza I tried it- OMG it was disgusting- it was more like a casserole than pizza!

I used to go to the city all the time just to walk around for a day or see shows but haven't been since before covid times and with the way it is now I have no desire to go back anytime soon- disgusting everywhere and crime through the roof!

I'd say half a dozen times, but it's been around 10 years since my last visit. Will be there next week though! Going to see Billy Joel at MSG and then have 2 extra days to be tourists.

I'd visit just to see it firsthand. Not as interesting as it was during it's depraved days of the 70's and 80's, but why not.

I would love to see it during a snow storm:

Times Square is just a massive tourist trap with chain restaurants and lousy stores you would see at a suburban mall. Meh.

Never been, no real desire to. I have been to NYC briefly (one day in middle school), I don't feel the need to go back there, either.

I have never been to NYC Unless you count the airport. 😞 Hoping to go next year. Will go Times Square when I go there just to see It but their are many other places I would rather see in NYC.
