DIDDY OR DIDN'T HE?

The jury has only been deliberating or about 12 hours.

Yet they have just sent a note to the judge saying they have already reached (partial) verdicts of 4 of the 5 counts:

Count 2: Sex Trafficking by Force, Fraud, or Coercion (for one victim)

Count 3: Transportation to Engage in Prostitution (for one victim)

Count 4: Sex Trafficking by Force, Fraud, or Coercion (for a second victim)

Count 5: Transportation to Engage in Prostitution (for a second victim).

The note said they are unable to reach a verdict on Count 1: the racketeering conspiracy count.

The judge told them to go back and finish deliberating ALL the verdicts. He will not release the verdicts of the other 4 counts until ALL the verdicts are in.

The jury has decided to adjourn for the evening and will start fresh tomorrow.

Thanks for the updates. :)

DIDDY IS DONE.

If they had found not guilty on the other counts, they would have found not guilty on Count 1 as well.

He has got 4 guilty verdicts at least coming IMO.

He could just be found innocent of the racketeering charge. :scratchin He can be found guilty of some charges and not others. They may be arguing that he did all the other stuff but it doesn't add up to being a business enterprise that becomes racketeering.

Not guilty on 1st, 2nd, or last (IMO should have been)... guilty on other 2.

Apparently jury didn't believe, care or understand how DV works.

I admit I have not been interested enough to keep up so I don't know if the prosecution moved too fast (before they had solid connected evidence).

So he is guilty of 2 counts of Transportation to Engage in Prostitution of these women but not guilty of the actual act of sex trafficking. So this jury believes that these women were willing participants and he was just their pimp. :confused3 And being a pimp does not qualify for racketeering.

Honestly I expected this because I believe he is just the surface and we would have seen some really big names pulled in to this. The jury is not ignorant of this fact. Sometimes people, regardless of how they feel about the defendant guilt, don't want to see idols fall. Reporters said many jurors often rolled their eyes, fell asleep and seemed disinterested ... so was a decision already made long before deliberation?

"And you, Mr. District Attorney, I'd like to point out something to you in the penal code.
Section C. Paragragh 22: 'Celebrities are above the law.' This case is dismissed."

No they didn't care or didn't believe. They don't understand the emotional component of DV. They probably thought only kinky sex was going on and the 2 women voluntarily STAYED for it all.

I think what did the case in was the various text messages by the two women where they each said (separately) they were up for more freak offs. They each said what a great time they were having and when would there be another one?

While the news made a big thing of Cassie being pregnant on the stand, what the jury probably saw was someone who obviously was in a healthy relationship now. So, how much emotional damage could she have had that she didn't recover from?

Cassie filed for a lawsuit, which is what sparked the federal investigation, and she received a payment from Diddy for $20 million. So, she already received retribution from him for the DV.

Last: Each woman was able to eventually break off their relationships with Diddy. He wasn't holding them captive (like R Kelly was doing with his young women and others had to intervene.) And for a while Cassie was even in a relationship with another guy, Kid Cudi. Then she went BACK to Diddy. The jury probably thought that was clearly consensual. She willingly did that and she probably consented to all the sex stuff and willingly stayed through the beatings.

(This isn't what _I_ believe, don't go after me. Of course, you can disagree. Just pointing out the jury probably thought the Prosecution didn't make their case on counts 2 & 4. All they did was show that Diddy hired sex workers from out of state.)

Well, at least it's something. Hopefully, he'll go to jail.
I mean it's literally next to nothing. If I understand correctly the 2 counts he was found guilty of have absolutely no requirement of jail time, which is also incredibly sad and for a different discussion. While I'm sure he will be sentenced to jail time, even if nothing more than to cover what he's already served this verdict was about as good as he could've asked for.

This is from a Reuters news article:

"Combs, 55, who had pleaded not guilty to all five counts, faces a maximum 10-year prison sentence on each of the two prostitution counts.

Prosecutors acknowledged in a court filing that federal sentencing guidelines appeared to recommend a maximum sentence of 5-1/4 years. Combs' lawyers argued that two years would be the outer limit."

Even if his sentence is 5-1/4 years, he'd probably be out in 2-ish years for good behavior. :sad2:

I forgot about factoring in the time he already served. :headache:

Oh no I agree, it seemed pretty evident that they don't understand or care about domestic violence and how insanely complicated it is. My guess is the prosecution also didn't spend enough having experts testify regarding DV, the cycle and the mentality of an abuser/victim/dv situation.

Having said that they're all alike, Combs, R Kelly...others that should not be mentioned on this board. It's all about abuse of power, taking advantage of those less fortunate then themselves and manipulative tactics and unfortunately we as a society don't seem to value all humans as equal and for the most part don't care enough to hold monsters accountable for their actions.

That is the hope but even if he is sentenced ............ this is a Federal charge so I expect him to walk. And if he is smart he will rehome himself some place where further charges can't be followed through on.
