What’s for Dinner Tonight?

Last night we grilled half-chickens so tonight I'll use up the leftover. I'm probably gonna cut the meat in bite-size chunks and toss it in some lemon butter to reheat. I bought some Buitoni cheese tortellini last week and I'll make a butternut sauce to go over that, and steam some green beans.

ETA I followed a recipe that was UGH so bland for the pumpkin sauce, but DD30, who is an awesome cook, fixed it. Dinner was delicious!

Son wanted to take me out for dinner again but it just made no sense. Still have restaurant leftovers from yesterday so it’s deli food again with the ever popular green salad on the side.

Going down a new new rabbit hole of watching freezer prep meals on YouTube. Interesting concepts and I hope to learn new methods.
I’m sure this is better than Bowie playing in the background for the people in my life ⚡😜
 
Tonight I made ravioli from a local pasta shop with home made marinara (I make it in a large batch and can it for easy week night meals), a green salad, and garlic bread.
Canning? A YouTuber I watch is big on that and I’m trying to resist the Sirens’ call😎

I do a lot of canning. My mom used to can and I learned from her. I can jam, pie filling, applesauce, tomato sauce, salsa, etc. it’s super easy. If you want to give it a try let me know. I’d be happy to talk you through it.
 
Cajun pasta with shrimp and sausage in some kind of sauce. I'm not sure what. My cousin made it last night, but I'm sick right now so I didn't feel well enough to stay up and eat it. She put a bowl of it away for me for my dinner tonight.
 
Hard choices. Son leaves on Saturday and much as I’d like to sit in a nice restaurant with him (there’s an eatery in Bed-Stuy near Nana and Papa’s house that I’m jonesing to go to) not going to happen.
So I asked him what he wanted me to make and thus steak frites with green beans is on the menu.
Conveniently almost all the ingredients were on hand excepting the blue cheese. So he went off to Zabar’s for it and all the other goodies I can only get from there. Opening a bottle of Syrah from California to drink because there’s someone around to enjoy it with; my liver will miss him 🍷💋.

Bought some pears at the farmers’ market and that should make a nice end of the meal. He’ll be back soon so I need to get cooking.
