Doorbell cameras are very popular today. During a time that so many of us gets deliveries at home, the doorbell camera helps us know if any porch pirates take those deliveries. The doorbell camera is also a goood way for many of us to feel safer. Share with us today…..

Do you have a doorbell camera?
If yes….has it ever showed you a crime?
If no…..do you want to get one someday?
(multiple choice)

For Me…..Yes, we have a doorbell camera and yes, it has showed us a crime, that happened last week (the inspiration for this poll). We’ve had a doorbell camera for probably 5 years now, along with other cameras. To make a long story, a woman came to our door and then when nobody answered, she decided to go in our backyard and swim in our pool (we have cameras around the entire house). When my DH saw this, he called the police and they took her away. If it wasn’t for the doorbell camera, we would have never known someone was in our pool. For those that don’t have a doorbell camera, I highly recommend getting one. My DH can’t install a doorbell camera at DD21’s apartment, but he is installing a few cameras.

yes I have one - no crime but have used it several times in my discussions especially with UPS Once when I received a damaged very expensive office Xerox machine that the driver just rolled down my sidewalk Literally rolled it end over end - UPS paid for a new one thanks to my ring camera
I’ve had a few other issues most all of them with UPS I even asked her manager don’t these drivers know most people have Ring cameras - yes they know and yet they still do these things interesting 🤔

I’ve got some interesting wildlife on mine too currently I have a huge lizard 🦎 living by my camera

Yes, we have several doorbell cameras.

I guess you can say it captured a crime. One night, during the Super Bowl, it was snowing, and a car was traveling too fast for the conditions up our road and caught the edge of the road and got sucked in and slammed into our fence and planters. He tried to take off but couldn't because his car was stuck. Police came. He had no insurance. He asked if he could pay for the damages directly to us in installments. We were nice and agreed to that. Ghosted us. Took us almost a year, but we ended up having his license suspended until he paid us and took him to small claims court (bill was about $1200 I think). On the day we went to court to figure out a payment plan, he had the whole amount to give us!

Oh, it also captured someone stealing our flowers out of our planters at the top of our driveway. On Mother's Day! Wonder if their mom knew they were stolen flowers!! lol

We do not have one. It’s something we’ve thought about but just haven’t gotten around to getting one yet

We do have a doorbell camera. Never captured a crime.
I have been able to show that a package that was said was delivered to us wasn't.
Amazon always sends a picture and it clearly wasn't our front entry.

We have no other cameras.

No camera, or even a working doorbell! But, we hope to remedy both of those soon. We do have a gate and a fence, so that gives us some peace.

Other. The house we recently bought has a Nest camera. However, it's a battery camera that someone hardwired. And Google Home doesn't find it. It seems it may be connected to the ADT system we don't intend to re-up.

So at least the doorbell rings, but it sucks that we can't use it with the camera feature. I suppose we could get a new one, but because of the old one, we'd need to pay to install it so that it works.

We live near Disney. We go to our home town very very often (sick aging parents plus our 2 daughters live there). So we have the Ring doorbell to see all that happens when we aren't here. Never caught anything too interesting on the camera. Some neighbors Rings have caught coyotes walk past and even the bear.

Yes, I have a doorbell camera. It is mostly used when unwelcomed solicitors come to my home; I don't know if they are scouring the neighborhood for non-camera houses as targets. I also have outdoor/indoor cameras (7) covering the rest of my home.

We do not, but we have several security cameras, including one right over the front door. It's motion activated, has very good night vision capabilities, and I can also turn it on to watch if I'd like. It will record any motion that triggers it, but I can also record "on demand." Probably similar to the doorbell ones, I can talk through it and I can sound an alarm if there's trouble. The front door is our least used entry point, but most likely approach point for strangers. So, I also have another camera pointed from the front of the house at the driveway, street, and mailbox. There are additional cameras pointed at our main access points and vehicles.

We got a ring door bell a couple years ago and it also came with another camera that we put inside the house when we travel. Two weeks ago there were some car break ins in our neighborhood and the police came around asking to see our video. While we did have footage of the criminals it wasn't clear enough to identify them.

It’s a big NOPE from me. I’ve never lived anywhere that was even slightly precarious and I never will. In my last home, which was a townhouse complex with front doors arranged around a lovely landscaped courtyard, my directly-across neighbour had one. The only thing it could have possibly recorded was my front door 25 feet away. I hugely resented it.

We have a RIng doorbell, it's handy. No crimes caught, but it's a nice notification system for when a package is dropped on the porch. Also if someone rings the bell you can see who it is and if you want to bother to deal with them. (Kids selling stuff for school is fine, others selling goods or services, no thanks.) It's also THIS LOUD, so I can hear it in the basement whilst something is blowing up on the home theater.:)

Yes, I have one on the door plus multiple cameras all around the property. I have several sheds they are pointed at as well. Plus a trail cam in the woods to catch some fun wildlife. No crime but I'm able to check in on stuff when we are out of town this way. A couple of years ago someone who was watering for me forgot to turn off the hose; it got super hot in the sun and burst and flooded my garden for days before I got home. Nowadays I can check on it and catch that sort of thing earlier.

We have cameras around house/property including front door. That camera works great and has incredible quality and depth, even at night. DD gave us a Ring Doorbell. It is installed but is nothing more than a doorbell, our Alexa tells us someone rang the bell (like we couldn't hear it) and perhaps shows a photo but I never look. We had it originally set up as intended but the picture quality is terrible at night. Couldn't see any more than 3 feet out. Then they wanted us to pay for the service so we let that expire. Since we have a comparison it really is a waste.

Crime? No. But we were out of town and our camera (not RING) recorded neighbors tree falling on to our house. Great video. Called DD to get over there before neighbor could clean up and play dumb on damage.
