I miss the days when you could get a physical picture from a film camera. But I wouldn't want to go back to a film only option. The cell phone camera is just so convenient. Most of the pictures are from vacations, but I will also take other random pictures.

I get physical photos printed at Walgreens occasionally, for those once in a lifetime vacations or special family events. You don’t have to forego physical prints just because you’re taking digital photos.

Although film is making a comeback, so you can shoot film if you prefer it. I still have my old Canon AE-1 P and think about grabbing a roll of film for fun. I loved using that camera . . .

I use my phone's camera for pics and video. It's ultra convenient.

Walgreens is great for photo printing. We have a friend who is in her 80's who loves when we give her the latest photos of our grandkids. And of course we have those photos framed in our house. We do have a digital photo frame, actually two, but those aren't practical for a single photo you want to hang on the wall.

I LOVE taking pictures! We often take bets on how many I'll take before the end of a trip.

I used to have a film SLR. Many of DD17s baby pics were taken on film because the lag on most point and shoots (film and digital) can mean not getting that perfect shot you were framing. I took 25 rolls of film with that camera in Europe and another 15 in Yellowstone and Grand Teton. It just gets expensive when you want better quality film development. I ended up settling with a digital point and shoot for convenience/cost for a number of years. I didn't get my first DSLR until 2010 and I didn't get my first smartphone until 2012 (first phone with a camera as well).

The phone is convenient and I prefer it for video. My phone backs up to my Flickr account and I make sure most videos go straight to YouTube since 4K takes up a ton of space. I still find my DSLR is far superior for picture quality (especially if I shoot in RAW) and speed. I upgraded my DSLR body in 2017, but have since been focusing (punny ) on lenses. Of course, a lot of that hinges on what I'm photographing and which lens I'm using. Phone cameras have come a long way and they're certainly easier on my back vs. lugging around all of my gear. I'm a total novice and there are some situations where I just can't figure out the lighting and speed puzzle with the big camera. So that's where it's also nice to have the phone. Still, I prefer the big camera for the big stuff, so I can't justify an iPhone pro model.

Edit- I should also note that I know that mirrorless is really the way I should be moving. My dad already made the shift. I'm just not ready since I already have a lot of DSLR gear and can still snag some really good used pieces as others make that shift.

My wife has a nice digital camera. We use that on vacations, like our trip last year to Lake Havasu, the Grand Canyon, Roswell and Big Spring. But we do take a lot of cell phone photos since that is always with us. Our next vacation my wife will be updating her Ancestry page with head stone photos of family members......50 in one cemetery alone, that will be all done on the real camera.

Two of my sisters look on me in sheer horror when I pull out my phone for pics .
Following in the footsteps of our grandfather’s sons, they know all about F stops, distance blah blah blah and take beautiful shots.
Me? It’s all about the utilitarian pic plus I’m quite aware that I’ve not the talent they have, so why bother?

Usually photos are only taken on vacations, and maybe local fairs and festivals. Once in a while if I encounter something weird or unexpected I’ll take a photo.

Have always enjoyed photography long before cell phones had cameras. If taking some spontaneous pictures for posting online that generally appear about the size of a postage stamp, my cell phone will be fine. However, if I am taking pictures I intend to enlarge, much rather use my DSLR to get higher quality images and various lenses allow me to fill more of the frame when taking the original photo.

If I plan to print photos, I prefer to use my DSLR. One good thing with digital photography is you can just delete photos that don't turn out and you don't have the expense of developing negatives compared to using film. You can view the DSLR images before deciding which ones to print.

Cell phone cameras won't make a poor photographer magically better at taking pictures regards of the ads you see on TV. Photography is mostly about composition, planning and having the correct lighting/lens/settings for the particular images you are capturing.

I had a digital camera, but I found that my phone takes better pictures and makes for one less thing to lug around on vacation. I sometimes take pics at home or whatever, but mostly I take pictures while I'm on vacation.

I just use my phone camera. I've had a couple digital cameras in my time, probably still do in a box or drawer somewhere. However, modern phones take far higher resolution pictures than any digital camera I ever had. I classify myself as taking pics once in a while... either to document something interesting, or taking pics of the cats or dog.

I pretty much exclusively use the phone camera. You have me wondering when I last used anything else. It probably was for underwater photos as I am still worried about using my phone for that.

I definitely take way more photos now. Back when you bought film and had it developed, I was more selective about snapping a picture. Now between almost always having the phone camera at hand and no cost (aside from maybe storage) I often find myself taking pictures of random things I see.
