I like them so long as they are fresh and not canned/jarred. The processed ones tend to make the pizza wet. I usually don’t put them on pizza at home, but often include them on delivered pizza.
I voted other as I’m super picky about mushrooms. They have to be fresh, never canned. And, I pretty much only like the mushrooms from the farmers market that I can select vs the grocery store. Those little cartons tend to get too slimy pretty quickly.
As for on pizza, I like FRESH mushrooms with assorted other fresh veggies. Tomatoes, basil, onion, maybe some spinach or arugula.
Only thing I wouldn't like on my pizza is kale and black licorice.
But to be honest, mushrooms, sauce and cheese are kind of the minimum toppings I expect on a pizza.
White button mushrooms are just about perfect. Cremini are pretty good too. Had some weird ones before, like chopped up portobello or shiitake.
I remember being on a business trip in China and trying to see what Pizza Hut was like there. And they actually have sit down restaurants unlike mostly delivery/takeout in the US now. Ordered combo that had mushrooms on it. But the mushrooms were the waxy yellowish canned button mushrooms they like there. It just feels weird biting through them. They kind of squeak.
I like them on pizza, but not a traditional pizza. It has to be white pizza with a bunch of other toppings. I love mushrooms, but not canned. After cooking with fresh, canned mushrooms just taste of the can to me now.
I said other. I LOVE mushrooms on my pizza, but they have to be Canned mushrooms. Fresh mushrooms get too "velvety" and dry for me. I like cooked mushrooms and fresh mushrooms, but they have to be canned on my pizza!
Only when they are cooked or canned. So many places put raw mushrooms on and expect that the cooking of the pizza will cook the shrooms. And it doesn't...the texture of raw.onea.do not work on pizza, IMO.
