Good Morning  It’s 5:25am as I start this poll.
I’m starting the poll with a good morning greeting because that’s part of the topic of today’s poll. Instead of saying hello, some of us say good morning, good afternoon and good evening. It’s old school and a little more formal to do this. I use all 3 regularly and some people look at me like I have 3 heads when I say good afternoon and good evening. Good Morning doesn’t get odd looks because most people seem to day that. Here’s a little more about it…..

So let’s get a little formal and talk about how we greet one another today……

When greeting (as in saying “hello”) someone what do you say?
Do you say it regularly or sometimes?
(multiple choice)

For Me……As I mentioned above I say all 3 regularly. My grandfather was adamant about me always saying good morning to everyone I saw when we’d walk for the Sunday paper. He also said good afternoon and good evening, but I really didn’t start saying those until about 10 years ago, I like it and it’s part of my normal language when saying hello to people. I do use hello regularly too, but I try to say the other greetings first.

Good morning, everyone. I also use all three but mainly, "good morning," or "good night/sweet dreams." Have a great Monday, friends.

Good morning at all hours of the day. Easier than trying to figure it out. Once people get used to it, you no longer get weird looks. "Good day" just sounds odd/dismissive, so good morning it is, even at 6pm.

I use all three verbally and written I have made that a habit since I was a child I’m going to assume my parents taught me that but I can’t recall because I’m old🤣🤣
It’s a mix bag what I receive when I see people I will say most older people say good morning not so much good afternoon or good evening and most other people just say hello but you do get a lot more good mornings than any other greeting
Professionally not so much it doesn’t seem to happen very often I usually always start morning emails with good morning to people that I talk to frequently or good afternoon if it’s in the afternoon

Good morning sometimes.
Hello often,
Good night sometimes.
Good afternoon and Good evening never.
I don't think anyone I know uses those last 2

Good morning and good night often.
Good afternoon sometimes.
Good evening rarely.

Sometimes I’ll say good morning and realize it’s afternoon, then correct myself.

I Good Morning everyone when I come in to the office. Often I'll say 'Have a good night' on my way out.

Sorry - I didn’t vote because the poll choices seemed a little convoluted. I mostly say “good morning/evening and good day (not good afternoon). I absolutely always use these salutations in my written communications for work. Hello is for phone calls and Hi is for very casual encounters throughout the day with people I’ve already greeted more formally, like DH and those in my immediate proximity at the office.

I never say good evening and the only times I can think of that I may say good afternoon are when I've accidentally wished someone a good morning when it's technically afternoon (i.e. I lost track of time). I say good morning all the time.

For me, it depends on context.

If I am with friends or family, it’s usually a Hi! and Bye! regardless of the time of day.

At work or in other more formal settings I might still greet friends and close coworkers casually, but everyone else will get a Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening.

When I am out walking in the morning, I regularly say good morning to everyone I pass on the sidewalk. Afternoon/evening, I will usually say hello. I don't feel like good afternoon or good evening rolls of my tongue as well. People are pretty friendly around here, but some will deliberately look the other way when passing, I don't always greet them!

I am usually a “hi”, “hello”, “how are you” greeter all day long. Almost everyone I encounter in the morning says “good morning”. I’ll have to pay more attention to their afternoon and evening greetings.

Good morning regularly.
After that, I usually say Hi or Hello, not Good afternoon or Good evening.

I rarely greet someone in words. If I pass someone I will usually smile.

If someone says Good Morning or whatever I will say it back.

Good fill in the blank with the appropriate time a day works well for business calls whether I’m the customer or the business.
“Hey, Hiya, etc” is my norm for personal calls.

And if you are calling me for business and you refer to me as “NYC” the conversation probably won’t go well simply because I don’t know you like that.
I’m Ms. Grrl until and unless I say otherwise.

I’m Ms. Grrl until and unless I say otherwise.

And what is your reason for that? I've never understood the reasoning behind calling someone Ms./Mr/Mrs vs their first name?

I will say "Hello" when writing an email but will say "Good morning/afternoon or have a good night" depending on the time of day when passing someone in the hall at work. If I'm walking around a store and someone make eye contact, I will usually smile and if they react, then I will say "Hello".
