I think it’s safe to say that it’s camping season. I know people camp all year, but summer seems the most popular time to camp. So, let’s talk camping this morning…..

Do you go camping?
If yes….what do you like to camp in?
When do you like to camp?
(m.c.)

*For those camping this weekend…..have a fun and safe camping getaway.

*No Other today - not enough spaces available

For Me……I do not go camping :sad2: My DH tells people that camping for me is anything that’s not a 5 star hotel :rotfl:I’m not that high maintenance, but I most definitely do not like to go camping. Sorry campers….its just not for me :sad2:

I like to camp. Maybe glamping might work better for you @slo ?

I have never been camping. I do not have any real desire to do so either.

That said, I think it would be fun to "camp" (emphasis on the quotes) in the back yard sometime. I cannot seem to get DH on board with the idea unfortunately. We have the perfect place to do it, there is a little playhouse out there and everything. I think it would be fun.

Been there done that always a disaster or issue or problem - tent ⛺️ camping - it was like the 7 plagues of Egypt every time I finally said never again ! But I did it for YEARS always hopeful it would improve it never did - nothing will get me to camp again - I’m a hotel camper now !!! I think God was trying to tell me something I just wasn’t picking up his message 🤣🤣 I’ve got it now !!!

I said never been camping, but does sleeping in a tent 300 ft from the house count? If so, yes, I went camping once with a Cub Scout den .

It wasn’t my house, does that raise my camping value score?

Six Flags Great Adventure in NJ has a brand new glamping resort that opens today.

My understanding is the price starts at $599 per night plus taxes AND a $99.99 daily “resort fee” plus taxes on the resort fee.

Two night minimum. But it includes daily breakfast. What a deal!!!

I have a feeling this will be a bigger failure than Disney’s Star Wars immersive experience.

I camp with my family in the spring, summer and fall. We used to have a motorhome but switched to travel trailer a few years ago. We did a tiny bit of tent camping when the kids were in scouts. I don't tend to sleep when we're in a tent, much prefer RV camping.

We kinda have a fixed schedule for the places we go and when. So we have six to seven trips a year, anything from a long weekend to three weeks.
Spring break - Florida
Memorial Day - Shenandoah or Lancaster
Father's Day - Kings Dominion
Independence Day - MD or VA beaches
July or August - long summer vacation
Labor Day - Hagerstown
Columbus Day - Ocean City MD or Shenandoah

Edit- Yes, I need to get moving to pack the trailer since we're heading to the Kings Dominion campground today.

I’m choosing Other on this one even though it’s not really an option. When I was young, my family used to go camping for practically every summer vacation, and long weekends in the spring/fall. We had a small trailer. I LOVED those vacations and have fond memories of camping, especially in the National Parks.

I have only been tent camping once. It was for my son’s Cub Scouts overnight. It was… uncomfortable. I think it would be better if we had more “gear,” but we definitely had a barebones setup.

My husband is allergic to everything that grows, so he wouldn’t enjoy camping at all and has never been (also the reason that I took my son to the Cub Scout campout instead of him.) He also doesn’t want to tow a trailer anywhere (and frankly, I don’t either), so we never camp.

I do not go camping anymore!

I was a Girl Scout, Camp Counselor, and my parents had a RV that was kept in a NJ shore camping community, so, I was a camper and enjoyed it very much!

When we go to National Parks now, if there are HA cabins I would choose to stay in one. That’s about how close to camping I can do these days.

I suspect my camping days are over but I did enjoy them.

Started out bicycle camping with the ex and kids in New England and Europe. Hike camping parts of the Adirondack Trail with girl friends. Then a long time off until I convinced the man we should take DGD car glamp camping. He was not the biggest fan but anything his Princess (aka DGD) wanted to do was worth trying. Uhh he was content to let me go camping without him for a week in August with my Bowie friends. That was to celebrate the musician’s life and we often rented a small campground in CT so we could blast music all night without bothering anyone.
Was trying to transition him into wilderness glamping but Disney got in the way for which he was eternally happy🤣.
Considered RV camping across the country in a small TT with a retractable roof but that’s when he put his foot down and said he wasn’t driving anymore.
Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

I've only been camping once. I loved the setting, but didn't get much sleep!

I would go again in the right circumstances (which includes an RV toilet/toilet block!!).

So, I would have voted 'other', I guess.

I love Fort Wilderness and am pretty sad they're changing out the old pioneer-style brown log cabins for very unnatural, in-your-face multi-colored versions. ...What are they thinking? :sad2:

We call it camping but it definitely would be considered glamping. We have a seasonal site about 45 minutes away from our home. Go there every weekend from May 1st to Columbus Day (been doing so for 18 years). We now have a park model, so full kitchen, full bathroom, loft, 3 season porch attached.

We did do actual camping before we become seasonal at this site, started with a tent, moved to a pop-up camper, then got a 30' travel trailer. We used to travel around mostly NH every few weeks in the spring/summer/fall. When we became seasonal, we purchased our 1st park model, not as glamorous as this. Then in 2020 - we got this unit.

I camped a lot with my parents as a kid. However, the military broke me of that. DH and I both were active-duty and spent quite a bit of time either in a tent or a foxhole. (In fact, it was on a deployment that we had "our future" conversations.) Neither of us have any desire to camp, even as we're reaching retirement. As our friends & neighbors are selling houses and buying RVs or campers and hitting the road, we're just smiling and nodding and waving. Give us a resort hotel with a restaurant, thank you very much! :p

Nope, never.

Camped several times as a child for a week or more at a time because my dad absolutely loved it -- tent, primitive campsites. I'm done. As an adult I'll camp at the Holiday Inn and call that roughing it.

My camping definition changed when I met DH. I used to classify RV motorhomes/trailers as well as cabins as camping, but he was an Eagle Scout and he's got a very rigid definition. Over the years, I've convinced him to buy certain things to make it more pleasant, but to him...it's not camping if it's not in a tent. So basically, nature needs to be able to claw its way through fabric to get to you for it to be camping 🤣

We rarely go more than once a year and when we do go, it's always to a friend's land for a big holiday gathering. It's only tolerable here in the cooler months. So maybe from about late November to early March. We've gone through many different tents over the years...including his original tiny little 2 man tent and the three bedroom dome tent I bought that wound up being designed for summer. The current tent is a cabin tent. I think it's a 10-man, which equates to two queen sized double flocked air mattresses and some space for our stuff. i.e. 10=4! It's got a divider going down the middle to make it more of a 2-bedroom setup. There is a full bathroom with electricity where we normally camp and we've upgraded things like our seating, camp kitchen, and lighting over the years. Honestly, those huge air mattresses were the big game changer. I don't love it though, so I only would do it for special events like this or an emergency.
