The weekend is almost here, which means some people enjoy going on a weekend getaway. During the winter months, that getaway may involve snow, mountains/hills and skiing. I thought of this topic, because I know a family leaving tomorrow to go skiing - they go every year. I also know a couple that enjoys going to Europe to ski. Can you relate to these people I know, in regards to enjoying skiing? Let’s hit the slopes with this topic today……

Have you ever been skiing?
If yes…..what is your opinion of it?
Also……what type of skiing do/did you enjoy?
(multiple choice)

For Me…..I went skiing once and I hated every single moment of it. I was in my young 20s at the time and we skied on large hills. We did do a lesson first to give us an idea of what to do. I was cold, but also sweating - it was so awful. I swore I’d never do it again and I didn’t. I’m sure when you are good at it, it’s a lot of fun.

I went skiing a couple of times when I lived in Colorado (Breckenridge and Keystone) but wasn't a fan at all. I kept falling down and running into people. Ironically, tho, I loved water skiing and did that a lot on the Mississippi River back in my Chicago days. My boyfriend at the time was from Savannah, IL. :)

I used to ski when I was a teen and in my 20s. I really didn't like downhill skiing at all. I was never good enough at it to feel safe or in control. I enjoyed cross country skiing and did it for awhile, but didn't keep up with it after I was out of grad school. I also really hate being out in the cold.

I’ve never tried it and with my bad bones I’m not about to try it now and the fact that I don’t like the cold kind of comes in to play so no for me

I have never been skiing. It looks like fun, but I believe I am too old to try now. I am afraid I would break something.

I enjoy it, but not many opportunities to go skiing. I learned when I was 10 years old. I think it was 6 years ago that my dad took my family and and my sister's family to Killington, Vermont for a week to ski. I am strictly a "green" slopes girl. My boys enjoy the more challenging hills.

I skied when I was younger. Not sure my knees would enjoy it now. I grew up in New England I feel like it was a requirement that everyone skied lol. Weekends or day trips to VT to ski were common.

This is exactly what I would have said, except that I foolishly didn't get any lessons. It was scary and I never wanted to do it again.

We live 1/2 hour from one of the world’s most famous alpine regions so it would be a shame not to. We’re skied all over the Canadian Rockies, the Kootenies and Lake Tahoe. Alas, our days of that are probably over now as DH is 70 and his expensive sports hobby is now golf instead of skiing. But we did love it for many years. :goodvibes

I have never skied and never had a desire to do so. I would enjoy sitting in the ski lodge drinking cocoa, though.

I tried it once and didn't like it. I lived by the Poconos growing up so many of my friends/schools had ski clubs. I did enjoy when the ski resorts started tube runs as an alternative and was one of my first dates with my wife.

All being said, I thoroughly enjoy watching downhill racing on television. I would really like to see it in person someday; the speeds look phenomenal.

I've only skied a handful of times in my life, but just went a couple weeks ago with my family in Switzerland. My wife (who had been on skis once in her life) and I got a private lesson while we got our boys (experienced skier and snowboarder) a guide to show them all the trails. We loved it, and somewhat regretted not doing it more with our kids when they were younger. I still would like to keep learning and try to ski more going forward, but we'll see.

I like cross-country skiing but haven't done it in years. I took downhill ski lessons as a kid but never got into it.

I have never been snow skiing before. I think I would be interested in trying it to say that I have, but I don't think that I would love it, so I've never really searched out an opportunity. (I do not like that "I'm both cold and hot at the same time" feeling.) I do know how to water ski though.

It's outdoors, it's cold, moderate-to-high risk of injury, specialized gear...send me pics. I'll be in the lodge with an Irish coffee*

*Irish coffee, I've learned, is not authentic to Ireland. However this hypothetical scenario is likely taking place in Colorado, no cultural appropriation intended.:sunny:
