We clean the whole fridge usually once a year, but not really on a set schedule. It’s just when the mood strikes me. I do wipe down the shelves more often, every couple of months and before we grocery shop when it’s almost empty. We clean the freezer usually at the same time as the deep fridge clean. There always seems to be food crumbs in the bottom of the drawers.

Yeah, I do it, but not very regularly. Mostly spot cleaning, until there's some big spill/mess. Then it's everything out and clean it up.

My aunt does it at the change of every season. She's getting on a bit, so I wanted to take over this chore but she told me I wouldn't clean it like she does. She's probably right.

They get cleaned a couple times a year... it can get pretty bad. We have one in the kitchen, one in the garage and a mini fridge in the basement.

We have lived in our current house for 3 yes and 4 months. The refrigerator has never been deep cleaned in that time, only spot cleaned. I think about doing a deep clean all the time but then get busy and forget. It's a vicious cycle. Maybe this thread will remind me and it will actually get done.

I think I may have done a poll on this a few years ago. If I did, that’s ok - people’s answers could change or we may have some new people to the polls.

This time of year is when I deep clean the house - I call it “Winter Cleaning” (I don‘t have time in the Spring for Spring Cleaning). One of the things I do is deep clean the refrigerator. I take everything out, including drawers and shelves. Everything gets washed with soapy water or a cleaning product. I throw away anything expired or things that have been in there a long time (I write the date on everything I open with a Sharpie - this way I always know how long something has been sitting in there). It’s a lengthy process and feels good when it’s done. It takes me about 2 - 2 1/2 hours to do. I did this chore yesterday afternoon, and I’m glad I don’t have to do it for another year. For the rest of the year I will spot clean when needed. Now that it’s just DH & I most of the time, the fridge stays pretty clean most of the time.

Do you deep clean your refrigerator?
If yes….how often do you do this chore?
Do you do this, or does someone else in your home do it?
(multiple choice)

For Me….As I mentioned above - I do this chore once a year and it’s always in January.

Fun question:)
My husband deep cleaned our refrigerator last time. He does a much more thorough job than I do.
I have arthritis of the hands, so he helps with all these more intense cleaning chores. He also cleans the stove top and oven. He's a keeper, and No he is not for hire, LOL.
