Slinky Dog Question

Putting on my bullet proof vest.... but I don't think any ride at WDW (save FOP which I haven't been on yet) is all that amazing. Certainly nothing worth waiting over an hour for in the summer heat. There are rides I absolutely love and adore, but mostly out of nostalgia and that carefree feeling. They make me feel good and that's alright! :P I'm not going to WDW for a thrilling experience. My local Six Flags takes care of that. I am (or was) a huge coaster enthusiast, and looking at SDD, I don't think it would crack a top 20 list for the ride alone. What makes it unique (and worth the FP scramble) IMHO, is the immersion you get that WDW does better than any local theme park. I'm still eyeing a Universal trip and can't wait to go to the dark side... but my heart keeps calling me back to Disney.

My family had a lot of fun on SDD. However, we were able to get FP for it during the opening week last year. We experienced it at night, which we all thought TSL looked better at night than during the day. During the day, the sun was just beating down on us. My family have become line "snobs" and will not do a ride that we have wait longer than 30-35 minutes. We actually didn't ride Toy Story Mania for two trips when you had to get the paper FP even for resort guests. We couldn't get one earlier enough in the day and the kids were too little to keep them out til the park closed.

Take this with a grain of salt. I waited 75 minutes in brutal hot Florida sun with very little shade relief. Even the fans in the queue weren't working. It wasn't worth more than a 20 minute wait. But I was pretty hot and cranky by the time I got on.
Last August, I waited 105 minutes in the hot sun and through a short rain shower, only to have to ride break down when we were in sight of the loading platform. We didn't even get a FP for the trouble. Still haven't ridden it. But I have a FP for this September, so maybe I'll finally get to try it.

Slinky Dog is super fun, but I wouldn’t wait for it (or pretty much any ride, save FOP) for more than 30 minutes. I put it above Mine Train but below EE, RnR, and ToT. Just got back from Disneyland, and I rank it below Guardians, Radiator Springs Racers, Incredicoaster, and Smugglers Run (which was fun but is basically Star Tours in a cooler box with buttons).

Is Slinky Dog better than:

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train? NO SDMT is better because of extras inside and the house at the end.
Tower of Terror? NO
Rock & Roller Coaster? NO
Smuggler's Run?
Rise of the Rebellion? (I know these haven't opened yet)
Flight of Passage? NO
Expedition Everest? NO

I like the way Slinky Dog accelerates at the start and later in the ride, the smoothness of the ride, and the way it just reaches the upper limit of being a gentle ride for kids.

We rode it at night (with a FP) and I laughed through the entire ride because it was just so much fun. We got off and got right back in line just before park close to ride it again. We waited about 25 minutes before loading in for another go.

My family really liked TSL (but, we were there in the evening). My husband said it best, "it just gives me a good feeling."

I am not a coaster fan, so I am not a SDD fan. I rode it once, and in the ride photo I look like I just bit a lemon. I thought it was terrifying.

Slinky dog is a fun ride. It's a short family coaster so it doesn't really compare to the rides you listed other than 7 dwarfs. My kids like slinky dog better than 7D. The only reason I wouldn't rate slinky dog above 7D is because I really like seeing the dwarfs and "heigh-ho" on 7D so I'd rate them about the same. I agree with those who say slinky is better at night, but if it's daylight you can see the view of Galaxy's Edge which is pretty cool.
No, you won't be amazed by slinky dog, but it's still fun!

I may get labeled as blasphemous, "that guy", or a hater . . . but here goes. Is Slinky Dog Dash really THAT worth it? I'll pause a moment for you to get a towel and clean up whatever you just dropped on the floor. (winky-face thing goes here)

I understand the queue is cool, and the theming of riding in Slinky Dog is unique. But the actual experience seems at a lower "wow-level" than many others. We have been to WDW 5 times, usually about every 5 years. So when you give your responses, pretend you go as infrequently as we do. Also we are not traveling with young kids. Is Slinky Dog better than:

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train?
Tower of Terror?
Rock & Roller Coaster?
Smuggler's Run?
Rise of the Rebellion? (I know these haven't opened yet)
Flight of Passage?
Expedition Everest?

We do plan to ride it. But we just don't see ourselves getting off the ride saying, "Holy Cow!! That was one of the most amazing rides we've ever been on at Disney."

It is absolutely not better than any of those other attractions you've listed. Yep, it's fun for sure - but I'm definitively not waiting in line for an extended period for it.

It's fun and I like it, but I don't see myself riding it often. We *love* Toy Story Midway Mania--all 5 of us would rather ride that together with our FP than try for SDD, which only 3 of us would ride even if we could get it. Now that we've ridden SDD once, we aren't willing to wait in the kind of lines it always has. So if we happen to see a short line or a same day FP, I'm in! But if not we'll skip it until the lines get shorter.

I loved the ride! We waited for 70 minutes last year to ride and felt it was worth the wait. But, I do have kids and I love Toy Story. I generally don't wait for any ride for more than 30 minutes, we only did this time because we were way ahead of schedule and figured we may as well go for it. And I'm glad we did. I enjoyed it more thant 7DMT.
