When did you receive your slideshow and photo cd after your trip? We are so anxious to receive our copy! :cool1: I called our AAA travel agent to ask her to keep an eye out for it, as our pre-trip package went to her directly, not to our home. So far none of our travel companions seem to have received theirs either, so it's not like ours is "missing". Yet. :goodvibes

It takes at least 4 weeks to get your copy. Might even be later. They have been distributing the pre-departure packet later as well. I never received them 3 weeks before leaving in the past. You'll get 'em, don't worry. :)

Thanks! :goodvibes We sound pathetic. :lmao: Just really looking forward to having our own copy. I still can't put into words how much we enjoyed this trip, our darling guides, and the other travelers we met! :grouphug:

There has been a printing issue with the pre-departure handbooks which has been delaying the "goodie boxes" from being shipped.

It's my understanding that this has been corrected and that the boxes are now going out regularly.

I would assume it will take some time to catch up...but I'm guessing that they will back on schedule soon.

Well, it's now been 2 months since our trip ended and we still haven't received our photographs. Kevin has tried to help and I have been contacted by ABD (by phone and Facebook (!!)) and was told 1.5 weeks ago that our trip photos had some "technical" difficulties but it would be corrected by June 5th and we would get them by June 8th. :scratchin

Hmmm... ok. Still nothing. I called ABD today and asked about them. I was told by the vacationista that she would call me back with the UPS tracking number. That was 2 hours ago.

I dunno but I'm beginning to get a bad feeling and wonder if our photos have disappeared into the ether and no longer exist. :worried: Surely they would have been backed up somewhere? :rolleyes2

On this point, I have to cut ABD some slack.

I had guests on a Backstage Magic Adventure and it took us 5 months to get that photo CD past Canadian Customs.

That's what seems to be the hold up with Canadian guests.

We recently finished a Viva Italia trip on 6/3 and guests are receiving their CDs.

One of our guests is Canadian and I don't expect she'll see hers for quite some time.

Be patient with ABD. I'm sure they are trying.

If there is anything I can do...please let me know.

Well, I dunno. The Costa Ricans on our tour haven't gotten there's either. I just spoke with them (through Facebook) ... they called today too and apparently, their DVD (yes, there is one at least), got sent to the wrong address (to their U.S. travel agent).

I'm pretty sure it's not customs by the way...unless their declaration label is really bad. I've purchased camera equipment, DVDs, and all manner of merchandise from the United States and they've arrived within a week if not days. I also import huge shipments of toys from a wholesaler in San Diego ... and at most, it's delayed a day or two in Customs... and that's only if they decide to open every box to inspect.

I'd give ABD some slack on this except my confidence in their shipping abilities is waning. The whole fiasco with the pre-departure kit (they said they would ship on a certain day and when days passed, I called and discovered they had forgotten to ship it... ) made me wonder if they actually shipped the DVD ... which is why I called today.

Now, if they had shipped it last week when they said they were going to ship it, they were supposed to call me with a UPS tracking number. They haven't. Even if it gets stuck in customs, the UPS tracking number should be available. And if they forgot to ship it and are shipping it now, then I should still get a UPS tracking number. If it gets stuck in customs, then I could at least see that it's stuck in customs and hurry it along by pestering UPS. And if they sent it UPS, I hope to high heaven that they didn't send it the way they sent the first departure kit ... with brokerage, taxes and duty owing.

It would be faster for me to go down and get the DVD myself. I've got a friend going to Anaheim in July ... he could probably pick it up before it even arrived here.. at this rate. :confused3 For pity's sake, send it by U.S. Post! I've gotten many bootleg General Hospital dvds and they've never been stopped by Customs! (Oops...did I say that? :lmao:)

I just find it odd that ABD has such amazing customer service, amazing guides... just an overall amazing experience yet they can't figure out how to ship things to Canada. It's just a bit bizarre.

I'll wait because I have no other choice ... but geez. The guides, I know, took amazing photos and I just wanna see them. <whimper>

Apparently, this has something to do with Canadian laws regarding the sending of advertising materials.

It seems camera equipment and bootleg General Hospital DVDs are exempt from these laws.

Again, odd because I get those free WDW, DCL and DVC dvds all the time without even a stop at Customs. Btw, I've never heard of this Customs problem with WDW Photopass CD's... so ??? Just saying ....

And ... UPS tracking number please? (Meh, ABD is closed about 15 minutes ago so I'm not getting any info from them tonight ... it takes over 3 hours to find the number? Again ... just saying ...)

I also want to reiterate that up until now, the DVD hasn't been sent yet ... according to ABD, there was a technical problem with the DVD and IT was trying to fix it and the plan was to have it fixed by June 5th. So, the 2 month delay has nothing to do with Customs.

Hmmm... we returned 5/21 from Knights & Lights and haven't heard that anyone has received their CDs yet, and you have some already received for a 6/3 trip? Hopefully ours are "in the mail"! :goodvibes

I'm wondering if ABD is adjusting to the volume of people booking their tours. It has grown quite a bit since we did our first one in 2007. Back then, we receive a code to access the photos taken during the tour and buy the ones we wanted for $15 a pop for a 4" x 6" photos!!! was I ever so happy when they decided to give us the DVD with all the photos taken by the guides with the slide show!

Just a thought....

I'm quite impressed by the quality of photos the guides take with those teeny weeny cameras. :thumbsup2

Update: a vacationista called and left a voice mail this morning. They printed a DVD for me this morning and are sending it today by UPS. I wasn't given a tracking number. Probably hasn't shipped yet so no #.

Turf buf - our 2007 trip we got CDs for free, no charges. I was expecting they'd charge by now, but it sounds like its still included, which is great and another little value added to ABD!
My DH is a photo nut, so we didn't need many except that we our water camera in our checked luggage ( foolishly with the card in it) and lost all our water pics because the camera was removed from the bag:sad1: And for CR, there were tons of water pics- Hildago hot springs, MA surfing , Sarapiqui river rafting. I was so ticked at TSA ( we had a TSA lock on) and couldnt believe my government stole my vacation photos and camera!! But several months later while packing that bag for another trip we discovered a pocket we didn't know exsisted and low and behold...there was our camera:thumbsup2. TSA must have removed it to check it, then chucked it in another pocket after re locking the bag. We had never used the pocket (or were aware of it)so we never checked it !

Good to know that the ABD guides are still doing the photos for free!

The slide show dvd was free but I remember ordering the photos through Photopass. I am quite sure about that since I had to swallow hard when I order them since they were quite expensive.

I too paid for the photos in 2008 and 2009, and I'm certain of that. For our 2011 trip, we didn't pay extra for the photo CD.

Ok, good. For a while there I thought I missed the photos in the dvds! I am quite sure about that since I think it was 2010, our guides were telling us that the pictures will be included in the dvd already. Whoever thought of that idea is a genius!;)

I know that's how it worked in 2008 when I did Southwest Splendors and in 2009 when I did Alaska. Free slide show, but photos through Photopass. I just couldn't stomach it, so I only bought a couple of pics. I wish they'd done the photo CD back then!

But in 2010, they started the free Photo CD. I think people liked it better. I'm really glad they went to the free CD.

(If it was free in 2007, I wonder what made them think charging for them was a good idea? ;))

Sayhello

I must be mis remembering it then, I know the slide show was free, but maybe we paid for the photo cd...it makes sense because we thought we lost photos we would have been happy to pay.

I'm just so anxious to receive both the sideshow and the photos!! I hope it arrives soon! I especially am looking for a photo of DD dancing with one of our guides at the final dinner. I took a video, but DH forgot to take a still. I know our other guide did take a photo! :). It was a special ending to a magical week. :wizard:
