Hi, If you go to the world with a group of 8 grown-ups. Lets say you get a two bedroom how do you figure out the sleeping arrangements? Do you take the king size bed? You aren't asking for any money from your friends. What would you do?:confused3
Do you think it would be better for everyone to get 2 studios?

My points My king size bed

as far as who gets the sleeper :confused3 not my problem :rotfl2:

It really depends on if you are close, family/friends. Personally we like to vacation in big groups and I don't care who sees me in my pajamas and no make-up. We always rent 2 bedrooms, we travel with 3 parents and a bunch of 13 year olds. The only time I gave up the master was when I invited an actual couple and I felt they should have the master. Otherwise I take the master, DS(13) sleeps in the master on a blow up bed. Best friend and his mom sleep in the other bedroom and another friend and her young daughter sleep on the pull out while the older son sleeps on another blow up in the living room. At OKW you could almost make a third bedroom out of the laundry room, it's pretty big! :lmao:

Could I get a one bed-room and studio next to each other? This would be better than two studios because it will give me a seating area during the day but will DVC put us next to each other if i ask?

You would just need to book a lockoff 2 bedroom, that's a 1 bedroom connected to a studio. It's less points than booking them separate. If you actually want them separate rooms, it depends on the resort if there are 1 bedrooms and studios that don't connect but there's no guarantee they will be next to each other.

Sure. Just book a 2-BR lockoff unit. That's a 1-BR with a connecting studio.

Do your guests mind sleeping in a room with another set of grown-ups? We are all friends. How do you go about asking this? LOL

I guess I'm a little puzzled by your question. If you are going to offer them a free trip - I would just make sure that when you invite them, that you lay it all out on the table.

"I have enough points for a 2bedroom at Disney and they can sleep 8 - I'd be happy to have guests! I'm taking the king size bed in the master bedroom, but the queen bed and 2 sleeper sofas in the other bedroom and living room are up for grabs! Are you interested?" ....and then make sure that they understand the commitement that they actually do need to go even though they arent paying so that you dont waste your points!

I dont think that 2 studios would be better for you than the 2 bedroom - the nicer kitchen space alone would be a benefit for a group that large. Depending on where you were planning to stay - the dedicated 2 bedrooms might be better than the lock-offs because some of them will have 2 queens in the 2nd bedroom.

When we go as couples I get each couple their own space since I wouldn't feel comfortable sharing a room with another couple, but if it was all girls I wouldn't mind sharing a room, not a bed, but the room or living room would be ok.

How about if you talked to your best friend in the group and get a feel of what that person thinks.

The PP that mentioned just laying it out sounds like a good idea too.

I's keep the master since you are spending a lot on your points.

I think it depends on who's staying with you. DH and I stayed in a 1BR with another couple in Jan. DH is about 5'7" and I am 5'4". The other man that was staying with us is about 6'4". DH and I slept on the sofa bed because his feet would have hung off the edge on that thing! I feel like it's just showing hospitality to your guests.

LOL We did that one year but not intentionally.
My middle son snores like a freight train and was sharing the double bed room with my youngest son.
My youngest son borrowed the car for a while and came back from Walmart with a blow up mattress which he put in the laundry room and slept there for the rest of the trip. He said it was the best sleep he got in years since their bedrooms share a common wall he was kept awake sometimes by brother's snoring.
My youngest is now in the Marines and hasn't complained about anyone snoring anymore. He said while in bootcamp you either get used to the snoring or go without sleep. He sleeps through anything now.

Well, that's your problem right there. Sure, the 2BRs *fit* eight people, but I wouldn't actually want to do it.

I wouldn't put 8 adults in a 2 bedroom, either. 4 or 5 adults in a 2 bedroom is max for me. While I like my friends, I also like my space. And, I don't like sharing my bathroom with anyone other than my husband. :)

Have you considered the Treehouse at SSR? There you could give each couple a space since there are 3 bedrooms and a living room, but still a 2 br points.

While technically a 2 BR will sleep 8, it really won't in this situation. I'd consider a 2 BR l/o plus a studio if you have enough points. Even this is pushing it IMO for appropriate privacy and space. Doing OKW will give you 2 full queen beds in the second and more space plus the split BR with dual access in the later phases even if you get a lockoff. AKV & BLT will give you the sleep 9 2 BR options and if you get a dedicated unit, 2 queens in the second as well plus the extra small bath.

If you can't get enough space to do this comfortably, I think you either limit the group to less than 8 or lay it out for them what you can get and what you can't. For a 2 BR you'll have 2 on a pullout queen in the LR and 4 sharing a single second BR with either two queens or a queen and pull out full size (love seat).

Just got back from a quickly planned trip at SSR - 3 adults in a studio (a married couple & me). We decided we won't do it again unless it's only for 1 or 2 nights. First there was the privacy issue. I travel with these friends all the time but I still wouldn't want Leroy to see me changing clothes. Two women trying to do hair & makeup at the same time is a stitch. Plus the first night I couldn't sleep and would have loved to put the TV on but felt I couldn't (even though Mary can sleep through a bomb going off, Leroy is a lighter sleeper).

Remember, too, that except for OKW, the sleeper sofa in the studios is a full size (as Dean just pointed out). It would be okay for maybe an adult and a child but how many couples sleep in a full size bed today. I tend to spread out so I would pity anyone sleeping with me. All I require (whether my points or someone else's) is my own bed.

Who is going to sleep in the bunk beds? Not really adult friendly at all.

I agree with the PP who said they wouldn't do eight adults in a two bedroom villa. Just too crowded. Even OKW would be too crowded.

I too would not have 8 adults in a 2 BR Villa. It is just too crowded. No one, except you, would have any privacy. There will be no where for the couple sleeping in the Living Room to put their clothes and things will be all over the Living area. Unless you are at OKW, you will almost definitley have 1 Queen and a double sleep sofa in the second bedroom A double is small for 2 adults IMO.
We were in a 2 BR Villa at BCV in October and DH and I discussed how even 6 adults would have been crowded. I think it is great for families with young children, but not for 8 adults.
