Sleeper sofas comfortable?

How comfortable are the sleeper sofas? For kids only? Ok for adults? Any difference between a value sleeper and a deluxe sleeper?

Thanks in advance. We will be a family of 5 next time we go and I'm looking at options. Not sure about 2 adults on a sleeper for a week.

We were at OKW in May/June and stayed in a 1 bed room. My daughter 10 was going to sleep on the sleeper sofa.... it was horrible!! First of all, it was flithy...there were remnants of bugs in it...Once cleaned up, we discovered it to be about the most uncomfortable thing we have ever attempted to sleep on. We ended up closing it up and putting sheets down on the closed sofa for my daughter (10) to sleep on. My son slept on the sleeper chair. He said it was okay.

Last year we stayed in a 2 bedroom at Saratoga. My son had a bedroom and my daughter decided to sleep on the sleeper. It was clean and semi-comfortable for her. But, when opened up in that room it took up most of the room though.

In May 2015 we are going to stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge in a two bedroom. This time my daughter and her best friend get the 2nd room and my son gets the sleeper. We shall see how he likes it.....

Our only experience with the sofa sleepers is at the value resorts.

The one in the family suites at AOA were just fine. My son said it was comfy for him.

The one in the ASMu family suites was so uncomfortable my DD didn't bother unfolding it after the first night and just pulled the sheet and blanket off it and put them on the couch to sleep unfolded. Even then she said it was still uncomfortable - I think that thing just needed to be replaced.

My kids who are almost 5 have shared a sleeper sofa at AKL, BWV and SSR. They say it's really cozy, but then again, they are little. At OKW we had a sleeper sofa and a sleeper chair so they didn't have to share.

Personally I wouldn't have an adult sleep on one for a whole week. They aren't better or worse than what you'd expect them to be though.

A kid? Hey, your parents are taking you to DISNEY. You'll sleep where they tell you to! LOL

The sleeper sofa at AOA was comfy, even for my adult-sized son. That's the only one we've tried out at WDW.

I think the ones in the All Star Family Suites are very comfy. I shared one with one of my nieces, and slept very well.

I stayed in a 1 Bdrm at SSR the year it opened. It was myself and my mom. I gave mom the bedroom because it has a king bed in it.

All I can say is that after 3 nights, I was ready to switch resorts so I could get a bed. It's a classic pull out bed - not the most comfortable to sleep on for several nights in a row.

We were two adults on the sleeper sofa at Beach Club Villas. It was very uncomfortable. We checked out 3 days early and returned to Portofino Bay Hotel where we could sleep in a bed.

3 years ago the pull out beds at the ASMu suites were terribly uncomfortable. Small kids might do okay on them, but there is no way I would ever sleep on one again, and I wouldn't recommend them for adults. My sister was sleeping on the pull out chair, and it was really saggy in the middle. She ended up pulling the mattress off of the pull out ottoman, and doubling up her mattress, but she said it was still the most uncomfortable bed she had ever slept in. Hopefully they have replaced the furniture in that room by now.

We have stayed at the BCV and my son slept on the sleeper sofa. He said it was comfortable.

I've slept on a pull out sofa at OKW and a pull out chair at BLT. Both were perfectly fine by me, clean and comfortable. They do just take up a lot of room once pulled out.

Our family has used the sleeper sofas at:

BWV - very clean and comfortable , twice
SSR - very uncomfortable and old, once
OKW - great, new and comfortable, twice
BCV - fine, no complaints, once
ASMu - fine, although the large hinge on the side was uncomfortable getting in and out, twice and a third coming up in November

I think you can't make a generic assumption, though, because you may get a room that is heavily used vs. a room that is only used during busy times. I think the preferred locations get the most use, so you have the most chance of a well-worn sofabed.

We believe that we should be so tired from a day at Disney that we can pretty much sleep on anything. That usually works!

I LOVED the sleeper sofa in BLT. I preferred it to the regular beds. Spent the whole week sleeping on it. The beds were way too soft for my back and the sleeper sofa was perfect.

We have used sofa sleepers at OKW, VWL, BWV, Jambo & Aulani ... I found them all to be uncomfortable for my adult body. I think kids, teens (even adult sized ones) & young adults are less prone to the aches & pains that older adults experience after a night on an awful mattress, KWIM?

They are very firm but nothing like the sleep sofas of old where the stupid bars somehow always were in the wrong spot. These are constructed so there is a continuous solid surface under the mattress.

I have the same good feelings as the other posters regarding BLT's sofas. I asked a few years ago about resorts that have the same type, and I never got a clear answer. Here's that thread.

I am a tad anxious about the sofa bed in the BWV studio; I suspect that studio sofa beds get more use than the sofa beds in other sized units. I am planning on bringing an "egg crate" foam pad for DD, just in case she's uncomfortable. It's going to be a long week if that's a bad bed; are there any other options if the sofa bed is truly bad?

Just spent a week on one in VWL...not an issue. My only issue is that they have a piece sticking out that you have to step over when getting in or out of the bed. Not a big deal, but a pain (literally!) until you get used to it.
My dh, 6'4'', and dd, 5'10'', have both slept in the sofa beds. Both had no issues. Are they as comfortable as a bed? Nope. But, they aren't a bed of nails either!

We bring a memory foam mattress topper. It helps a great deal even when the sofa bed is uncomfortable.

DD (adult) slept in a sofa bed at OKW.....we had been warned they were uncomfortable. We called house keeping for an egg crate foam topper and then it was fine for her.
That was in a 2 bedroom.

I slept in a sofa sleeper in the Wilderness Lodge Villas and it was fine except it creeked every time I moved.
That was in a studio.
