Last Minute trip going down the middle of December and staying at the All Star Music resort. What is best bet for transportation and access to the Skyliner system? How far is it from this resort? Bus frequency? We also could use Uber but want to use what is there 1st.
Thanks for any input you have.

Do you want to use the Skyliner system because you think it will be fun? If yes, that's one thing and PP told you what to do. If you think that's the best form of transportation to and from All Star Music, that's something else; All Star Music uses buses.

...which is a better hotel than the All Stars to begin with.

LOL that's a matter of opinion, once the All Stars have been renovated (they are getting the same room makeover that POP is) I'd say the skyliner will be the ONLY thing that edges them out over the All Stars. I've stayed at both and found the All Stars to be much better in terms of managing the buses and crowds at the pools.

OP - the only way to ride the Skyliner if you're staying at the All Stars is to take transportation (Disney bus, your car, Uber are pretty much the only options from the All Stars) to one of the skyliner stations. If you prefer using Disney transport, you'd have to take a bus to one of the parks (HS or Epcot) as there aren't buses between resorts. From there you could hop the skyliner for a ride to any of its destinations.

I like Pop more because of how much more compact it is, and I actually found that the bus lines at Pop were much more manageable than at the All Stars.

taking a bus to Epcot would require using an admission to get from the bus drop, through the park, to the Skyliner station. Alternatively, one could take a bus from the front of Epcot to the front of DHS and board there - but why, when there are buses directly from the resorts to DHS?

Thanks for the thoughtful replys. This is a last minute trip going Dec 12-15. Originally going to stay at an off property in a Marriott Fairfield Inn, then this hotel on site became available. I can live with the location just for the bus/ magic express transportation angle. Since we will not be back for awhile after this trip, though we would see what is new at at least ride the Skyliner once. Maybe using LYFT most of the time for return to the room.

That's right - I forgot about that. The HS skyliner station is outside the gate, so no need to get into the parks to ride.

If just for fun, plan a hop between Epcot & DHS, or just take a couple of hours out of your day at either park for round trip ride. If you just ride end to end and get off and immediately go back, it should take less than an hour if there are no delays.

Maybe a meal at one of the Epcot Resorts on your DHS day; BW, BC, & YC are a 5-minute walk from the Epcot station.

Great suggestion! Thanks
