On these threads someone mentioned skyauction. I went there and was shocked at how low someof the houses and condos in Orlando were going for.

We have stayed at Vistana for years compliments of my in-laws nad would love to stay there. It looks like I could bid and be there for about $300 -400 for the week ina 3 bedroom.

I also saw the Rosen Plaza hotel with rooms that would end up being about $50 a night. On their website it would be $125 for the same time frame.

Please let me know your experience with Skyauction or Rosen Plaza.

Thanks! Nancy :wave2:

We've gotten 2 weeks at CPGV through Skyauction for $260 each week. We've also stayed at the Rosen Centre Hotel (through Priceline not Skyauction) for $44 a night. Of course, with Priceline you can't select a certain hotel so we just happened to get the Rosen Centre. Very nice place and, of course, well worth the $44 a night we paid. With Skyauction we were able to get a great rate by being flexible. I checked the "Ready, Set, Go" auctions to find availability for CPGV (because it came so highly recommended on this board) and put a hold on the room I was interested in. When I won the auctions I claimed the rooms and we'll be there in November. We planned our vacation based on availability at CPGV. If we'd wanted to travel, say, in July or August, there really wasn't any availability or the rates were much higher. Good luck planning!

We have successfully bid on Skyauction for years.

If you know the market and your limits, you can get great deals. I especially agree with you on Orlando-area condos, which are often unloaded at huge discounts.

Three notes:
1. There is a service charge--typically $195 a week--so take that into account when bidding. In other words, you are never going to get a condo for "nothing."
2. The real bidding takes place in the last ten minutes, so use the "autobid" feature to make sure you keep pace.
3. The same items tend to recur, so be disciplined and patient.

That said, we got a week at a 2 BR in Vistana with airfare from Indy last spring on skyauction for $296 per person for four.

Good luck

Bahama Papa --- Your place at Vistana --- was it new and clean. I know a few years ago ,there were some older not as nice units at Vistana in need of renovation. THe pics show the newer larger units however. How was your unit? Thanks so much for your info!!!!!

I did see the service charges!

We don't need airfare. We live in South Carolina. With 3 kids, I'd much rather drive and have my van!!

We traded into Vistana in Dec 2003 and were put in the old units toward the back and they were not acceptable. When we asked to be moved, we were told traders get what they get. Gee, and I wonder why we didn't want to attend their sales pitch?
