Just wanted some input from the ladies that tour the parks in a skirt. For religious conviction I only wear dresses and skirts and have been pondering how to do this during cooler weather. At home I would wear a long jean skirt, but I am nervous about climbing in and out of rides in this (Think Space Mountain) Any other "skirt-only" girls out there that can give some hints? Thanks so much! :goodvibes

Could you wear thick tights under a less constricting skirt? I have a few pairs of sweater tights that are quite warm.

I'm not a skirt wearer, but is there a way for you to either wear thick stockings or maybe a skirt with a bell or fuller bottom???

What about the cinched skirts that will allow for flowing movement?

Could you make or find someone to make you a skirt that bells or will allow you the movement but keep the modesty?

Maybe something like this or this?Obviously not the price point I was looking for , but you can get an idea of the style/idea???

I often wear maxi-type, fuller skirted sundresses on holiday in WDW, (that's what we call them in the UK, is it the same in the USA? That longer length is very fashionable here at the moment) as I find them comfortable. They give my legs some coverage if it's a bit chilly, and the floatiness is also comfy when it's warm. I haven't really found it a problem getting on and off the rides, I just sort of gather my skirt around me and get in - now if it was a short skirt that would be a problem! :)

Three of my friends share your conviction and all three have toured Disney successfully! One just last week! They favor more flowy skirts and have never reported tripping.
I navigate getting in and out of our full-sized van with my long church skirts and heels, so I bet doing the same on rides with less hazardous shoes won't be a problem. ♥

I'm not a skirt-only person, but I have one long stretch denim skirt with deep side slits (up to the knee on me, I'm short) and I can do *anything* in that skirt. Paired with tights, it would be at least as modest as a knee-length skirt (moreso, actually, because most of the time your legs would be covered) but it gives plenty of room for movement.

I think any flowy skirt with thick tights would do.

I hope this isn't rude - and you don't have to answer if you don't want to - but what religion are you?

I agree with the PP's regarding wearing a "flowing" style of skirt or leggings/stockings underneath the skirt if you are able to. I will say that I have seen a lot of people who do wear skirts on rides, and as long as you are careful to get on and off the ride just right, you will be fine. :thumbsup2

Greetings,

I wear skirts the vast majority of the time, and have done Disney, in skirts. No matter the length, you do not want pencil skirts. There are too many situations where you need to spread your legs and climb. Getting in and out of Space Mountain is a great example.

I wear loose flowing skirts. In the event of cold weather, I wear those footless leggings which are so popular now and then socks. I like the combination better than tights because tights are not as comfortable on my feet for long day excursions. I like to wear a pair of thin wicking socks topped by a warm pair of socks. The wicking socks take care of any foot moisture.

In the event of rain and my shoes/socks get soaked, I do not need to change my entire lower half's clothing. I can just slip into another pair of socks.

Oh, take at least two pair of shoes, so when one of them gets wet, you have a dry pair to wear.

Denim is my least favorite fabric to wear at Disney. If you get that stuff wet, then it stays wet for hours, if not all day. Between Splash Mountain, kids spilling stuff on me, and the River Rapids Ride, and Florida cloud bursts, I usually get wet at least once. I like fabric that dries quickly.

This type of skirt works well http://www.funkyfrum.com/product_p/e7b3-8em.htm It has plenty of volume for when your legs need to come apart.

During warm weather I wear golf skirts. These are shorter than I would wear in my every day life, but they are skort style and have built in shorts for full modesty. I usually pick mine up at the end of the summer at our local golf shop for a hefty discount. They skim the top of my knee and have a built in bike short. (No flashing problems at all). These work better than run of the mill skorts as they were built for athletic activity, wicking sweat, and being very comfortable. Some skorts are so bulky and uncomfortable, but the golf skorts are amazing.

Could you wear thick tights or leggings? That way your legs are warm and you don't have to worry about getting in and out of rides

My DD kept telling me that wearing a sundress was a lot cooler than shorts or capris. I finally tried it and have to admit - cooler, no issue getting on or off anything and I'd probably do it again. Of course, my sundress was down to knee and below level which also helped.

Wow. I am overwhelmed by the amount of wonderful replies on here! Thank you so much everyone. This is the reason I love the dis so much. I was thinking that full skirts with leggings was the best choice and I think that's what I am going to do now.

To the PP that asked my religion, I'm Pentecostal. :)

You girls are so awesome! Thank you so much again!!!! :grouphug:

I almost only wear skirts - in the winter I either wear knee-high socks or leggings, or, if it is very cold, both.

I am not a skirt-only person, but I have started wearing more skirts and dresses to WDW just because of comfort. I never go when it's not the temperature of the surface of the sun, but I never have any issues getting in or out of rides with skirts or sundresses (I also wear shorts underneath or wear skorts, just in case!)

I like to wear skirts just because they are comfy. As others have said, footless tights work great at WDW with skirts.

OP, I have nothing new to add that hasn't been said but I just want to say to have a great vacation! :)

Yea, in 4 days it's supposed to get cooler again, but not COLD like it has been in the past. High this weekend is only 64, not sure where you're coming from, some people may think that's warm and nice!! Good luck with whatever you decide, but long and flowing seems to be the way to go!!! Enjoy your trip!
